Yippee! California Becomes 1st State To Ban Plastic Bags

From a cheering Associated Press:

California becomes first state to ban plastic bags

By FENIT NIRAPPIL | September 30, 2014

SACRAMENTO, Calif. (AP) — Gov. Jerry Brown on Tuesday signed the nation’s first statewide ban on single-use plastic bags at grocery and convenience stores, driven to action by pollution in streets and waterways.

A national coalition of plastic bag manufacturers immediately said it would seek a voter referendum to repeal the law, which is scheduled to take effect in July 2015.

Under SB270, plastic bags will be phased out of checkout counters at large grocery stores and supermarkets such as Wal-Mart and Target starting next summer, and convenience stores and pharmacies in 2016…

The rats are going to love this. After all, most people now use plastic grocery bags as their trash bags.

FCC Considering Banning Redskins Name As ‘Obscenity’

From Reuters:

FCC considering move to ban NFL Redskins team name

September 30, 2014

The Federal Communications Commission is considering whether to punish broadcasters for using the moniker of the Washington NFL team, the Redskins, a word many consider a slur to Native Americans, the agency’s chairman indicated on Tuesday.

"Many"? Where are they? They never show up in any polls? We have never met such a person.

The FCC, which enforces broadcast indecency violations, has received a petition from legal activist John Banzhaf III, asking that regulators strip local radio station WWXX-FM of its broadcasting license when it comes up for renewal for using the name "Redskins."

Banzhaf says the word is racist, derogatory, profane and hateful, making its use "akin to broadcasting obscenity."

Which is pretty hilarious given all of the real obscenity on broadcast television.

Obama Is Spending $4M On Lawyers For Illegal Aliens

From a cheering Associated Press:

U.S. government funds lawyers for immigrant children

By AMY TAXIN [sic] | September 30, 2014

The Obama administration is spending $4 million on lawyers for unaccompanied immigrant children in deportation proceedings, a move an influential Republican lawmaker says is illegal and will fuel an increase in illegal immigration.

How can it be illegal to spend millions of taxpayer dollars to help illegal aliens stay in this country so they can get welfare and vote Democrat? The Republicans are just racist bigots.

Kenneth Wolfe, a spokesman for the Department of Health and Human Services’ Administration for Children and Families, said on Tuesday that it is the first time the office that oversees programs for unaccompanied immigrant children will provide money for direct legal representation…

One more gift to the taxpayer from Eric Holder as he goes out the door and beyond all accountability.

Obama Will Open ‘Refugee Centers’ In Central America

From Reuters:

White House moves to deal with child migrant issue

By Steve Holland and Roberta Rampton | September 30, 2014

WASHINGTON (Reuters) – The White House announced its intention on Tuesday to establish refugee processing in Honduras, El Salvador and Guatemala to try to deter unaccompanied children from resorting to crossing the U.S.-Mexico border on their own.

In other words, Mr. Obama is going "to deal with the ‘child migrant’ issue" by importing more of them. And by importing them directly from their home countries, thereby cutting out the middle men (the coyotes).

The announcement was made in a memorandum to U.S. Secretary of State John Kerry that also said the admission of up to 70,000 refugees to the United States in fiscal year 2015 is justified by humanitarian concerns.

Holder’s Justice Department To Ban Mosque Monitoring

From the Los Angeles Times:

Justice Department to ban profiling by federal law enforcement

By Timothy M. Phelps | September 26, 2014

WASHINGTON – The Justice Department is expected to issue a broad new policy in the coming two to three weeks banning religious and other forms of profiling by federal law enforcement officers, department sources said Friday.

The long-awaited policy will not include an exemption for national security investigations, sources said. National security officials and others in the administration concerned about terrorism lobbied hard for such an exemption, according to congressional sources.

We would say that our country has a death wish. But it is only a few who want to see our destruction. Unfortunately, they are in positions of power. Like Eric Holder and Mr.

OK Beheading Suspect Charged With Murder, Not Terror

From those relentless defenders of the faith at the Associated Press:

Oklahoma man charged with murder in beheading

By SEAN MURPHY | September 30, 2014

NORMAN, Okla. (AP) — An Oklahoma man apparently uttered Arabic words during an attack in which he allegedly severed a co-worker’s head, and had "some sort of infatuation with beheadings," but the killing appeared to have more to do with the man’s suspension from his job than his recent conversion to Islam, a prosecutor said Tuesday.

What a preposterous lead even by AP standards. But they are trying to make lemonade out of lemons.

Alton Nolen, 30, could face the death penalty after being charged with first-degree murder in the attack Thursday that authorities say appears to have been an act of revenge for a co-worker’s complaint that got him suspended.

SS Let Obama Ride On Elevator With An Armed Ex-Con

From an apoplectic Washington Post:

Armed contractor with criminal record was on elevator with Obama in Atlanta

By Carol D. Leonnig | September 30, 2014

A security contractor with a gun and three convictions for assault and battery was allowed on an elevator with President Obama during a Sept. 16 trip to Atlanta, violating Secret Service protocols, according to three people familiar with the incident.

Was he trying to pass himself off as an interpreter for the deaf? If so, then it’s only natural he got a pass.

Obama was not told about the lapse in his security, these people said. The Secret Service director, Julia Pierson, asked a top agency manager to look into the matter but did not refer it to an investigative unit that was created to review violations of protocol and standards, according to two people familiar with the handling of the case who spoke on the condition of anonymity.

DOD Official: Obama Was Warned Iraqi Army Not Ready

From the Daily Caller:

Pentagon Official: The President Is Lying To America — About Us, And About ISIS

By Joseph Miller | September 30, 2014

(Joseph Miller is the pen name for a ranking Department of Defense official with a background in U.S. special operations and combat experience in Iraq and Afghanistan. He has worked in strategic planning.)

… On Sunday, Obama said the intelligence community had underestimated the rise of ISIS, saying in an interview with CBS, “Our head of the intelligence community, Jim Clapper, has acknowledged that, I think, they underestimated what had been taking place in Syria.”

But we know that isn’t true, as nearly a dozen administration officials have testified to the threat posed by ISIS publicly over the last year…

To mitigate the fallout, Earnest’s office issued a statement stating that, “…A lot of that [decision-making] was predicated on the will of the Iraqi security forces to fight for their country.” But this was also not true.

WH Exempts Syria Strikes From Rules Re Civilian Deaths

From Michael Isikoff over at Yahoo News:

White House exempts Syria airstrikes from tight standards on civilian deaths

By Michael Isikoff | September 30, 2014

The White House has acknowledged for the first time that strict standards President Obama imposed last year to prevent civilian deaths from U.S. drone strikes will not apply to U.S. military operations in Syria and Iraq.

Where is the outrage?

A White House statement to Yahoo News confirming the looser policy came in response to questions about reports that as many as a dozen civilians, including women and young children, were killed when a Tomahawk missile struck the village of Kafr Daryan in Syria’s Idlib province on the morning of Sept. 23.

The village has been described by Syrian rebel commanders as a reported stronghold of the al-Qaida-linked Nusra Front where U.S officials believed members of the so-called Khorasan group were plotting attacks against international aircraft.

Iraq Pilots Mistakenly Drop Food, Ammo On ISIS Forces

From NBC News:

Iraq Pilots Mistakenly Gave Food, Ammunition to ISIS Militants

September 30, 2014

Iraqi military pilots mistakenly gave food, water and ammunition to enemy ISIS militants instead of their own soldiers, a senior security official and a brigadier-general told NBC News.

The supplies were supposed to help besieged Iraqi army officers and soldiers who had been fighting Islamist extremists for a week in Saglawyah and the village of Al-Sijar in the country’s western province of Anbar.

“Some pilots, instead of dropping these supplies over the area of the Iraqi army, threw it over the area that is controlled by ISIS fighters,” said Hakim Al-Zamili, a lawmaker in the Iraqi parliament..

“Those soldiers were in deadly need of these supplies, but because of the wrong plans of the commanders in the Iraqi army and lack of experience of the pilots, we in a way or another helped ISIS fighters to kill our soldiers.” …

And never mind that the US has been arming ISIS, if only indirectly, since the summer of 2013.

CBS Links ‘Climate Change’ To Ebola And Child Paralysis

First there is this from the Denver Post:

Tenth Colorado child showing paralysis, muscle weakening

By Elizabeth Hernandez and Kevin Simpson | September 29, 2014

State health authorities have confirmed a 10th case of paralysis-like symptoms in a Colorado child, an outbreak state and federal officials say might be linked to concurrent viral outbreaks…

At a news conference at the hospital Monday… doctors said it is too soon to know whether the afflicted kids will recover from the paralysis or how long that recovery might take…

Dr. Chris Nyquist, medical director of infection prevention and control at Children’s, said the affected group — kids averaging 8 years old — provides fertile ground for the spread of viruses, especially at this time of year…

You mean at the start of the school year?

1st Case Of Ebola In US First Sent Home With Antibiotics

From the UK’s Telegraph:

First Ebola victim in America was sent home with antibiotics

By Nick Allen | October 1, 2014

Dallas — The first person to be diagnosed with Ebola in America was initially sent home with antibiotics after doctors failed to recognise the symptoms of the deadly disease.

Notice how the rest of the mainstream media have not been reporting this minor detail. After all, we have been told we have nothing to worry with Ebola because the symptoms are so easy to recognize. All you have to do is stay away from people who have it. And yet American doctors didn’t recognize this man’s symptoms, and they sent him home with antibiotics.

A desperate search has now been launched to find other people in Dallas, Texas who the man could have infected.

IRS Couldn’t Find Taxpayers Who Owed $6.7B In Taxes

From an irony proof Associated Press:

Fed Report: IRS Bungles Hunt for Unpaid Taxes

By ALAN FRAM | September 29, 2014

WASHINGTON — The IRS failed to take all required steps for collecting unpaid taxes from people it can’t locate in over half the cases that investigators studied, potentially costing the government a pile of lost revenue, according to a federal report released Monday.

Maybe if they spent a little less time targeting Tea Party supporters and other conservatives and more time tracking down people who owe them taxes, they would have a better record.

The study does not estimate exactly how much money the IRS might collect if its workers were conducting all the research they are supposed to perform to find the taxpayers.

Fudge To Black Constituents: ‘Stop Your Complaining’

Via the Rebel Pundit blog:

Congresswoman To Black Constituents: “Contain Your Complaining”

September 29, 2014

Washinton [sic], D.C.- During a town hall meeting at the Congressional Black Caucus Legislative Conference (CBC), apparently fed up with complaints, Congresswoman Marcia Fudge (D-OH) had some choice words for constituents.

While touting the CBC as a group who fights for constituents, Fudge spoke bluntly, accusing them of not spending enough time with their local elected officials, and said, “you need to contain your complaining.”

I hope you will spend this much time with your local elected officials. I guarantee you most people in this room have not done that. With your school board, with your city council, and so then you won’t be calling me talking about somebody didn’t come and pick up your trash.

MD Obama-Phones Up 100X In 3 Yrs, Number Eligible

From the Washington Examiner:

Obamaphone use grew 100-fold in 3 years in Md. to twice the number eligible

By Luke Rosiak | September 29, 2014

Six-hundred-and-forty-five thousand Maryland residents had so-called Obamaphones in 2012 — one hundred times as many people as there were in 2009, and double the number in that state who are supposed to be eligible for the program based on their income…

Officials admitted Maryland’s 10,000 percent increase over three years in a little-noticed hearing before the House’s Subcommittee on Communications and Technology in April last year.

"By the third quarter of 2012, the number of Lifeline subscribers in Maryland had risen almost 100 fold to 645,000" compared to three years prior, industry consultant Billy Jack Gregg told Congress.

"Moreover, the current number of Lifeline subscribers in Maryland is almost double the number of low income households in the state" who are eligible.
