Seattle Mayor ‘Pardons’ Two Turkeys Made Out Of Tofu

From the Washington Post:

Seattle mayor pardons Tofurky, because it’s Seattle

By Reid Wilson | November 22, 2014

Seattle is a strange city. There’s a giant troll under one of the city’s main bridges, a giant statue of Vladimir Lenin on a random street corner and an annual Spam carving contest to take in. The neighborhood with the Lenin statue, Fremont, encourages visitors to set their watches 5 minutes ahead, because Fremont is the self-proclaimed center of the universe…

In short, all the stereotypes of politically correct, coffee-slurping, nature-loving, Birkenstock-wearing hippie-dom come to life in a single city are true…

So, perhaps in keeping with the city’s strange reputation, Mayor Ed Murray took a decidedly vegan spin on the Thanksgiving tradition of pardoning a turkey: He pardoned a Tofurky.

NYC Hired Con Artist To Clean Ebola Doctor’s Apartment

From BuzzFeed:

The Con Artist Hired To Clean Ebola

By Alex Campbell, Andrew Kaczynski | November 15, 2014

When New York City officials needed someone to disinfect the apartment of its first Ebola patient, they found someone who seemed to be made for the job. Sal Pane boasted decades of experience cleaning up extremely dangerous materials, including anthrax in 2001. Ebola was his time to shine. “This is our Michael Jordan moment. The fourth quarter,” he told USA Today. “When everyone else says no, we show up.”

But when Pane and his Bio-Recovery crew showed up at Dr. Craig Spencer’s home, they brought a truck bearing permit numbers that belonged to a dead man. Pane had duped the dead man’s grieving sister into selling that truck, she said, as well as the company name.

30,000 Of Lerner’s Missing Emails Are Recovered After All

From the Washington Examiner:

30,000 missing emails from IRS’ Lerner recovered

By Susan Ferrechio | November 22, 2014

Up to 30,000 missing emails sent by former Internal Revenue Service official Lois Lerner have been recovered by the IRS inspector general, five months after they were deemed lost forever.

The U.S. Treasury Inspector General for Tax Administration (TIGTA) informed congressional staffers from several committees on Friday that the emails were found among hundreds of “disaster recovery tapes” that were used to back up the IRS email system.

Gee, another late Friday news dump. But this is still more proof that the elections really are over.

“They just said it took them several weeks and some forensic effort to get these emails off these tapes,” a congressional aide told the Washington Examiner…

Lest we forget, these are the same emails we were told that could never be recovered.

Hagel: World Is Damn Dangerous, US Army Is Not Ready

Via Business Insider:

HAGEL: The World Is ‘Damn Dangerous’ And Our Army Is Not Ready

By Pierre Bienaimé | November 20, 2014

In an exclusive interview with Charlie Rose at the Pentagon yesterday, Secretary of Defense Chuck Hagel warned of the unprecedented challenges facing the United States military role on the global stage. "The world is dangerous. It is damn dangerous," Hagel said.

Earlier on, Hagel conceded to an array of US foreign policy failures read aloud by Rose from the op-ed pages of The New York Times, adding they came in response to an unprecedented and uniquely volatile global environment.

"We live in this imperfect, dynamic, changing, threatening, dangerous, interconnected world that we have never seen before, that we have never seen anything like this before," Hagel said.

NYT: Hagel Resigns As Defense Secretary Under Pressure

From the New York Times:

Hagel Said to Be Stepping Down as Defense Chief Under Pressure

By HELENE COOPER | NOV. 24, 2014

WASHINGTON — Defense Secretary Chuck Hagel is stepping down under pressure, the first cabinet-level casualty of the collapse of President Obama’s Democratic majority in the Senate and the struggles of his national security team to respond to an onslaught of global crises.

Yes, because in the elections the American public rose up and shouted with one voice, ‘Remove Chuck Hagel!’ In fact, that’s what the midterms were all about.

The president, who is expected to announce Mr. Hagel’s resignation in a Rose Garden appearance on Monday, made the decision to ask his defense secretary — the sole Republican on his national security team — to step down last Friday after a series of meetings over the past two weeks, senior administration officials said.

Obama Delays Pullout Of Afghanistan For Another Year

From a tight-lipped New York Times:

In a Shift, Obama Extends U.S. Role in Afghan Combat

By MARK MAZZETTI and ERIC SCHMITT | November 21, 2014

WASHINGTON — President Obama decided in recent weeks to authorize a more expansive mission for the military in Afghanistan in 2015 than originally planned, a move that ensures American troops will have a direct role in fighting in the war-ravaged country for at least another year.

Notice that this was decided in "recent weeks," and yet we only heard about it late on Friday evening, and two weeks after the elections. Of course, we agree with the decision. But Obama’s base never would.

Mr. Obama’s order allows American forces to carry out missions against the Taliban and other militant groups threatening American troops or the Afghan government, a broader mission than the president described to the public earlier this year…

You mean Obama misled the country?

Black Panthers Nabbed Buying Explosives Near Ferguson

Here is how this news was first reported by CBS News:

FBI arrests 2 men for buying explosives near Ferguson

November 21, 2014

The FBI arrested two men Thursday night accused of purchasing explosives they apparently planned to use during protests in Ferguson, Missouri, a law enforcement source told CBS News.

The men, who live in the St. Louis area, are allegedly members of the new Black Panthers. They were arrested as part of an FBI undercover operation near Ferguson and intended to use the explosives in pipe bombs, the source confirmed… FBI spokeswoman Rebecca Wu told CBS News the suspects were arrested on outstanding warrants…

CBS has subsequently edited the article to read this way:

FBI arrests 2 men on firearms charges near Ferguson

Nov 22, 2014

The FBI arrested two men earlier this week on firearms charges as part of increased law enforcement presence in Ferguson, Missouri, ahead of a grand jury decision in the shooting death of Michael Brown.

Obama: Police ‘Need Training,’ Holder Issues ‘Guidelines’

From Breitbart:

Obama: Police Need Training to Distinguish Gang Banger from Kid in a Hoodie

November 23, 2014

Sunday, while addressing the much awaited grand jury decision in the shooting of Michael Brown by Ferguson Police officer Darren Wilson, President Obama said, “In the end, what I have confidence in is that if we do a better job of training our law enforcement to be sensitive to the concerns of minority communities, then over time trust can be built in part because minority communities typically are subject to more crime."

Why is that, do you think?

"[In the end, what I have confidence in is that if we do a better job of training our law enforcement to be sensitive to the concerns of minority communities, then over time, trust can be built.] They need law enforcement more than anybody and there are a lot of communities in my hometown of Chicago, for example, who want to actually see more police in but they want to make sure the police are trained so they can distinguish between a gang banger and a kid who just happens to be wearing a hoodie, but otherwise is a good kid and not doing anything wrong," he added.

440,000 Illegal Aliens Now Eligible Medicaid In California

From Breitbart:

Executive Amnesty: 400,000 Illegal Immigrants Eligible for Free Health Services in California

By Robert Wilde |  21 Nov 2014

Roughly one million undocumented immigrants in California qualify for President Obama’s executive action of deferred deportation that he announced on Thursday. Of those 40% will be eligible for the states free Medi-Cal health services, while the remaining will be ineligible under the program’s income requirements…

For the record, Medi-Cal is the state’s name for Medicaid. And, actually, according to the Los Angeles Times, the number of illegals who will get amnesty in California is over 1.1 million. So the number of those getting ‘free’ healthcare in California will be over 4.4 million.

California extends Medicaid benefits to DACA immigrants while most states do not.

AP: Amnesty Is Good For Economy, More Amnesty Better

From a relentless Associated Press:

Obama immigration plan good, not great for economy

Economists say broader immigration overhaul would drive more growth than Obama’s actions

By Josh Boak | November 22, 2014

WASHINGTON (AP) — President Barack Obama’s expansive executive action on immigration is good for the U.S. economy — just not as good as partnering with Congress on broader reforms.

In other words, Obama’s executive amnesty for 5 million illegal aliens is good for the economy. But not as good as a blanket amnesty for 11 (to 30) million illegal aliens would be. So we need to keep pushing for that — in the best interests of America.

The executive order signed Friday would prevent the deportation of about 4 million parents and guardians who lack the same legal status as their children.

WH Is Disappointed GOP Hasn’t Shut Down Government

First there is this via The Hill:

Top GOP senator won’t dismiss talk of shutdown over immigration

By Molly K. Hooper | November 16, 2014

A high-ranking Senate GOP leader on Sunday left the door open to a government shutdown if President Obama moves forward with unilateral action on immigration reform.

Asked by “Fox News Sunday” host Chris Wallace if Republicans would “take the bait” and shut down the government, Sen. John Thune (R-S.D.) said “it doesn’t solve the problem, Chris, but look, we’re having those discussions.” …

Take the bait? Obama claims government shutdowns mean the end of the world as we know it. He wouldn’t try to bring one about just to score political points, would he?

Thune noted that House and Senate leaders “are having discussions” on how to react if Obama takes action on the lightning-rod issue as soon as this week…

Which was enough for The Hill to run with the headline: ‘Top GOP senator won’t dismiss talk of shutdown over immigration.’

Meanwhile, via Breitbart:

AP’s Pace: White House Disappointed GOP Hasn’t Shut Down Government

November 23, 2014

This week on "Fox News Sunday," Associated Press White House correspondent Julie Pace said so far the White House officials are disappointed the Republicans have not shut down the government in response to President Barack Obama using an executive order to grant amnesty to upwards of five million illegal immigrants living in the Untied States.

AP: How The Republicans Can Defuse Immigration Issue

From an ever helpful Associated Press:

A way for GOP to defuse immigration issue?

By NICHOLAS RICCARDI | November 24, 2014

DENVER (AP) — Republicans in search of a way to oppose President Barack Obama’s moves on immigration without alienating the nation’s fast-growing population of Hispanic voters can find a playbook in Colorado.

GOP Rep. Cory Gardner won election to the Senate in the midterms in a state where 14 percent of voters are Hispanic. His GOP colleague, Rep. Mike Coffman, won re-election in a district where 14 percent of residents were born in foreign countries.

Which, in a better world, would tell you that our country needs to secure its borders.

Both opposed last year’s failed bipartisan effort in the Senate to overhaul the nation’s immigration system… Both also spoke warmly of the contributions made by immigrants and shifted to the center on other immigration issues.

Obama: I’ve ‘Been Very Restrained (About) Immigration’

From Breitbart:

Obama: I’ve ‘Been Very Restrained with Respect to Immigration’

By Tony Lee | November 23, 2014

President Barack Obama claimed he has been "restrained" on immigration and that his position on executive actions has not changed after he unilaterally granted temporary amnesty and work permits to millions of illegal immigrants.

By the way, notice how his granting of work permits to millions of illegal aliens has been completely played down by the mainstream news media. When, in reality that is the only real news in his amnesty. (Since he was not allowing anyone to be deported anyway.)

On ABC’s This Week, Obama said that he has "been very restrained with respect to immigration" …

This is akin to a rapist saying it could have been worse.

Letter Indicates US Paid Ransom For Sgt. Bowe Bergdahl

From Bill Gertz over at the Washington Times:

Pentagon got duped, made ransom payment for Bowe Bergdahl to con man

By Bill Gertz | November 19, 2014

The Pentagon is under fire for making a ransom payment to an Afghan earlier this year as part of a failed bid to win the release of Army Sgt. Bowe Bergdahl, according to U.S. officials…

The ransom payment was first disclosed by Rep. Duncan Hunter in a Nov. 5 letter to Defense Secretary Chuck Hagel. Mr. Hunter stated in the letter that Joint Special Operations Command (JSOC) made the payment covertly as part of a release deal. But the money was stolen by the Afghan intermediary claiming to represent the Haqqani terrorist network.

Once again, this is news uncovered by House Republicans.
