Obama ’08 Primary Campaign Ad: ‘Trust Obama On Coal’

Mr. Obama was singing a very different tune about coal during the primaries before the 2008 elections. At least he was singing a different tune in states that had coal mining. In fact, Obama even made a campaign ad called, ‘Trust Obama On Coal,’  which ran in those coal states.

Here is the transcript of the ad:

Trust Obama On Coal

Obama: “I’m Barack Obama and I approve this message.”

Coal worker: “Barack originates from Chicago. But he came to southern Illinois and he seen the devastation and the loss of the jobs in the coal industry. Washington, DC is not listening to us. Barack understands.”

Graphic: “The Obama Record: $200 million for clean coal.”

Announcer: “In Illinois and in the USA Barack Obama helped lead the fight for clean coal.

Flashback: Obama Supported Coal Plants – Before 2008

But that was when he was running for office. He’s been elected and re-elected now.

From the July 2008 archives of USA Today:

Obama shifts stance on environmental issues

By Ken Dilanian | July 18, 2008

WASHINGTON — In May 1998, at the urging of the state’s coal industry, the Illinois Legislature passed a bill condemning the Kyoto global warming treaty and forbidding state efforts to regulate greenhouse gases. Barack Obama voted "aye."

The presumptive Democratic presidential nominee now calls climate change "one of the greatest moral challenges of our generation," and proposes cutting carbon emissions 80% by 2050. But as a state senator, from 1997 to 2004, he usually supported bills sought by coal interests, according to legislative records and interviews…

Obama, who touts his independence from special interests, made a point of embracing the coal industry as part of his quest for statewide office.

Jeb Bush Unveils His Amnesty Plan (‘Gang Of 8′ Redux?)

Isn’t this ‘The Gang Of Eight’s’ bill all over again? Though, Jeb is talking a little tougher about securing the border first.

From an unquestioning Associated Press:

Jeb Bush unveils border security, immigration reform plan

MIAMI (AP) — Jeb Bush outlined plans Monday to improve security of the nation’s borders and enforcement of its existing immigration laws, calling both a requirement before any president could begin to address the status of the estimated 11 million people living in the country illegally.

"Finding a practical solution to the status of the people who are here illegally today is a nonstarter if our borders are not secure against future illegal immigration," the former Republican governor of Florida said in a statement, released ahead of Monday night’s GOP candidate forum in New Hampshire…

That is a slight improvement from Mr.

NYT Mocks First GOP Forum As ‘Awkward, Unflattering’

This is what passes for journalism at the ‘newspaper of record.’ Where its editors constantly complain about the lack of substance from candidate.

From a sniffing New York Times:

Uneven Performances in Trump-less Republican Forum

Jeb Bush stumbled through a familiar question about his brother and father, struggling for the right words as he cracked a joke about duking it out with anyone who questioned the legacy of his aging dad. Gov. Chris Christie of New Jersey awkwardly said aloud what many have been wondering about his candidacy: “Am I washed up?”

And Senator Lindsey Graham of South Carolina reached back to the 1990s to attack Hillary Rodham Clinton’s credibility by dredging up her husband’s dishonesty about a sexual affair.

NBC/WSJ Poll: Hillary’s Popularity Down 15% Since June

Things appear to be trending the wrong way. The media had better get to work to turn that around. It’s never too early.

From a white-knuckled NBC News:

Hillary Clinton’s Popularity Drops Sharply in NBC/WSJ Poll

By Mark Murray | August 3, 2015

The bad news for Hillary Clinton in the new NBC News/Wall Street Journal poll: More Americans view her negatively than they did a month ago, revealing potential vulnerabilities for a general-election presidential contest more than a year away. The good news for her in the poll: Clinton continues to lead the Democratic field by more than 30 points, and the favorability numbers for two of the top Republicans are even worse than hers.

Every MSM article always tries to put a silver lining for the Democrats in their lead, no matter how bad the news.

Bill Clinton Got $16 Million From One ‘For-Profit’ College

This must have been ‘for the children.’ Besides, we know how much the Clintons support education. And now we know why.

From the Daily Caller:

Bill Clinton Was Paid More Than $16 MILLION By A For-Profit College Company

By Blake Neff | August 3, 2015

Bill Clinton was paid a whopping $16.5 million from 2010 through 2014 by a for-profit education company, recently released Clinton tax returns show. Clinton signed on as the honorary chancellor of Laureate International Universities, a subsidiary of Laureate Education, in 2010. Despite the honorary nature of his position, that didn’t stop the company from paying him on average approximately $3 million a year.

That just an ‘honorarium’ by Clinton standards. But, then again, think of all of the coeds he could get.

IG Probe Suggests Hillary’s Huma Did Favors For Friends

Huma seems to have spent much of her of time doing Teneo’s bidding while she was ’employed’ at the State Department.

From the Washington Examiner:

Clinton aide may have ‘delivered favors’ for friends, IG finds

By Sarah Westwood | August 3, 2015

… In a letter to Secretary of State John Kerry Thursday, Sen. Chuck Grassley, chairman of the Senate Judiciary Committee, said an inspector general probe suggested Huma Abedin leveraged her State Department job to benefit her two other employers at the time: the Clinton Foundation and a consulting firm called Teneo Strategies.

Teneo Strategies was founded by a longtime aide to Bill Clinton, Douglas Band, and boasted the former president as a paid board member when it first launched in 2011. Abedin allegedly sent or received more than 7,000 emails on her government account that involved Band, the letter said.

Hillary Defends Planned Parenthood In Campaign Video

In reality we know that Hillary has always seen children as political tools.

From the Daily Caller:

Hillary Defends Planned Parenthood In New Campaign Video

By Chuck Ross | August 3, 2015

Hillary Clinton is defending Planned Parenthood from what she says is a “full-on” Republican assault on women’s health in a campaign ad released Monday. “Republicans like Scott Walker and Jeb Bush are calling to defund Planned Parenthood, the country’s leading provider of reproductive health care,” Clinton says in the new ad.

Except the last thing Planned Parenthood wants is ‘reproduction.’ (In fact, they should actually call themselves Planned Un-Parenthood.)

“And they are joined by Republicans in Congress who will not waste a minute in voting to make that happen.”

Why didn’t Hillary say taxpayers need to continue funding ‘for the children’?

Democrats Block Effort To Defund Planned Parenthood

So much for the videos exposing Planned Parenthood’s ‘chop shops’ being a tipping point. But if not now, when will Planned Parenthood ever be defunded?

From the Washington Free Beacon:

Democrats Block Effort to Defund Planned Parenthood

By Bill McMorris | August 3, 2015

The Senate failed to defund Planned Parenthood on Monday… [T]he upper chamber voted on legislation introduced by freshman Sen. Joni Ernst (R., Iowa) that would have cut off the taxpayer spigot for the embattled organization and distributed the funds to local community healthcare centers. “Before you now is legislation that will protect the most vulnerable in society and fund women’s health,” Ernst said on the Senate floor before the 53-46 vote.

The measure needed 60 votes to advance.

Why? Why doesn’t Mitch McConnell simply declare defunding Planned Parenthood to be ‘budget reconciliation’ so that it can pass with a simple majority?

Iran Deal Hemorrhaging Support; GOP Says It Has Votes

The Republicans claim they have enough votes to stop the Iran deal. (Though they probably don’t have enough to overcome an Obama veto.)

But first from the Washington Post:

The Iran deal is hemorrhaging support

By Scott Clement | August 3, 2015

A new poll shows even worse numbers for the Iran deal. The Quinnipiac University poll shows 57 percent against and just 28 percent in support. The two-to-one negative split is by far the worst poll yet for the deal… A new NBC/Wall Street Journal poll, meanwhile, also shows support slipping…

A CNN-ORC poll released Tuesday finds 52 percent of Americans say Congress should reject the deal, while 44 percent want them to approve it. The findings mirror a Pew Research poll released last week and mark the first public polls this year to find majority or plurality opposition to a deal with Iran.

Kerry: Iran Deal Not A Treaty ‘Cause Can’t Pass Treaties

During questioning by the Republican Wisconsin Congressman, Reid Ribble, last this week at the hearing on the Iran nuclear deal, John Kerry made a telling admission that has gotten zero attention from the news media.

From Real Clear Politics:

John Kerry Explains Why Iran Deal Is Not Legally A Treaty: "You Can’t Pass A Treaty Anymore"

July 29, 2015

… REP. REID RIBBLE: For 228 years, the Constitution allowed treaties to [pass] with the advice and consent of 67 U.S. Senators. Why is this not considered a treaty?

SECRETARY OF STATE JOHN KERRY: Well Congressman, I spent quite a few years trying to get a lot of treaties through the United States Senate, and it has become physically impossible. That’s why. Because you can’t pass a treaty anymore.

WH May Intervene In PLO Lawsuit – On Side Of The PLO

The White House is considering intervening to keep the PLO from having to put up a bond while they appeal a federal court’s award to the victims of their attacks. It must be part of their ongoing ‘outreach’ to terrorists.

From Fox News:

White House mulling intervention in massive judgment against Palestinians in terror case

By Brooke Singman | August 03, 2015

The Obama administration has signaled it may intervene next week in a civil lawsuit in which 11 American families won a potential billion-dollar judgment from the Palestinian leadership over a series of bombings and shootings that killed or wounded dozens of U.S. citizens, a move that critics say would find the government siding with terrorists over its own citizens.

The families won a $218.5 million judgment in February after a seven-week trial in Manhattan Federal Court in which a jury found the Palestine Liberation Organization and Palestinian Authority were responsible for a string of attacks from 2001 to 2004 that killed 33 and injured hundreds.

CEO Suffers Backlash After Raising All Salaries To $70K

Remember how everyone praised this courageous CEO at the time? It doesn’t seem to have worked out quite as planned.

From the New York Times:

A Company Copes With Backlash Against the Raise That Roared

By PATRICIA COHEN | July 31, 2015

… Three months ago, Mr. Price, 31, announced he was setting a new minimum salary of $70,000 at his Seattle credit card processing firm, Gravity Payments, and slashing his own million-dollar pay package to do it… [A]lmost overnight, a decision by one small-business man in the northwestern corner of the country became a swashbuckling blow against income inequality.

The move drew attention from around the world — including from some outspoken skeptics and conservatives like Rush Limbaugh, who smelled a socialist agenda — but most were enthusiastic.

Obama Bundler Blocked PP Videos; Richards Visited WH

It seems like only yesterday we had a gay judge from San Francisco rule against California’s Proposition 8 which won by an overwhelming margin. And now we have another activist ‘judge’ trying to quash the release of these videos.

From the Federalist:

Obama Appointee And Bundler Blocks More Video Releases By Group Behind Planned Parenthood Sting

By Mollie Hemingway | July 31, 2015

A federal judge late Friday granted a temporary restraining order against the release of recordings made at an annual meeting of abortion providers. The injunction is against the Center for Medical Progress, the group that has unveiled Planned Parenthood’s participation in the sale of organs harvested from aborted children. Judge William H. Orrick, III, granted the injunction just hours after the order was requested by the National Abortion Federation.

Did An Obama ‘DREAMER’ Kill 2 Good Samaritans In MT?

It sure sounds like this young illegal alien was given legal status as a DREAMer. But that’s okay. He can be deported if he is found to have committed murder.

From the Washington Times:

Jesus Deniz Mendoza, Mexican accused of double murder, was legal immigrant

By Stephen Dinan | July 31, 2015

The man accused of killing two Good Samaritans who tried to help him on a Montana roadside was encountered by immigration authorities earlier this year after a burglary arrest, but was unable to be deported because he had already gotten legal status, federal authorities said this week…

We have checked other articles, but have yet to find out how he got legal status — reportedly back in 2013. Was the then 16-year-old given legal status as a DREAMer?
