Outrage! ISIS Might Blow-up An Ancient Minaret In Mosul

From a suddenly concerned Associated Press:

In Iraq’s Mosul, radicals unleash their vision

By VIVIAN SALAMA | July 28, 2014

BAGHDAD (AP) — Residents of Mosul have watched helplessly as extremists ruling the northern Iraqi city blew up some of their most beloved landmarks and shrines to impose a stark vision of Islam. Next up for destruction, they feared: the Crooked Minaret, a more than 840-year-old tower that leans like Italy’s Tower of Pisa.

Notice how nobody in our watchdog media seems to care when Muslims destroy Christian churches and shrines. But when they go after Muslim Mosques or shrines, look out!

But over the weekend, residents pushed back. When fighters from the Islamic State group loaded with heavy explosives converged on the site, Mosulis living nearby rushed to the courtyard below the minaret, sat on the ground and linked arms to form a human chain to protect it, two residents who witnessed the event told The Associated Press on Monday.

Boko Haram Has Kidnapped Wife Of Cameroon’s Vice PM

From the Atlantic:

Boko Haram Abducts the Wife of Cameroon’s Vice Prime Minister

By Adam Chandler | July 27, 2014

In what’s being described as "a savage attack," the wife of Cameroon Vice Prime Minister Ahmadou Ali was kidnapped along with the mayor of Kolofata in a series of attacks on Sunday by Boko Haram.

So where is the #hashtag campaign? ‘BringBackOurVicePrimeMinister’sWife’? This problem is not going to solve itself. The Obama administration needs to become pro-active.

"I can confirm that the home of Vice Prime Minister Amadou Ali in Kolofata came under a savage attack from Boko Haram militants," Issa Tchiroma told Reuters by telephone.

Those would be Muslim militants.

The attack also killed three people. Elsewhere in the country, the group attacked a church, killing five people in wounding eight.

Administration ‘Pushes Back’ At Israeli Criticism Of Kerry

From the Associated Press:

US fuming over Israeli criticism of Kerry

By MATTHEW LEE and JULIE PACE | July 28, 2014

WASHINGTON (AP) — The Obama administration pushed back strongly Monday at a torrent of Israeli criticism over Secretary of State John Kerry’s latest bid to secure a cease-fire with Hamas, accusing some in Israel of launching a "misinformation campaign" against the top American diplomat.

Notice how, as usual, our one party news media never reports the actual criticism of the Obama administration. They only ever report the ‘push back.’

"It’s simply not the way partners and allies treat each other," State Department spokeswoman Jen Psaki said.

Is Ms. Psaki irony-proof? The whole problem is the shabby way in which Obama and Kerry have treated our ally Israel (among others).

Shocker: US Says That Russia Is Violating Nuclear Treaty

From Reuters:

U.S. says Russia violated nuclear treaty, urges immediate talks

By Roberta Rampton | July 29, 2014

WASHINGTON (Reuters) – In another sign of deteriorating relations between the United States and Russia, the U.S. government said on Monday that Moscow had violated the Intermediate Range Nuclear Forces treaty, and urged immediate bilateral talks on the issue.

What a shock, huh? It’s not like the Russians (Soviets) have not violated each and every weapons treaty we have ever made with them. After all, Lenin once proudly pronounced that: "Treaties are made to be broken."

"This is a very serious matter which we have attempted to address with Russia for some time now," an administration official said in a statement…

Which is to say that up until now, the Obama administration has pretended otherwise.

The Border Patrol Is Handcuffed By Environmental Rules

From The Hill:

GOP: Border patrol agents handcuffed by wildlife rules

By Timothy Cama | July 28, 2014

Federal land protections are hampering efforts to stop the flow of illegal immigrants across the border, Republicans say. The Interior Department controls about 800 miles along the dividing line with Mexico, or about 40 percent of the total, with other land in the region owned by the Forest Service.

GOP lawmakers argue federal regulations intended to protect land and wildlife have become an obstacle for Customs and Borders Protection officers because they restrict their ability to drive near the border, build infrastructure or install surveillance technology.

“There is no doubt that the restrictions on accessing land along the border have made it more difficult for the Border Patrol to do their job,” said Sen.

Poll: The American Public Rejects Obama’s Amnesty Plans

From the Daily Caller:

The Public Rejects Obama’s Immigration Policies

By Neil Munro | July 28, 2014

President Barack Obama is pushing for a huge amnesty in the weeks before Americans go to the polls, but a new poll shows that the swing-voters are deeply hostile to his immigration policies and to illegal immigration, and are growing very worried about legal immigration.

Only seven percent of swing-voting independents say the 50,000-plus Central American youths who have crossed the Texas border under Obama’s oversight (since October) should be allowed to stay, according to the poll released on July 28 by YouGov and The Economist.

Eighty percent of independents say the youths should be returned now, or once conditions are safe in their home country, the survey said.

Obama To Expand DACA, Give Amnesty To ‘Caretakers’

From the Associated Press:

Obama mulls large-scale move on immigration

By ERICA WERNER | July 28, 2014

WASHINGTON (AP) — Even as they grapple with an immigration crisis at the border, White House officials are making plans to act before November’s mid-term elections to grant work permits to potentially millions of immigrants who are in this country illegally, allowing them to stay in the United States without threat of deportation, according to advocates and lawmakers in touch with the administration.

So Obama is going to ‘grapple’ with the crisis at the border by giving work permits (really amnesty) to more of the millions of illegals already here. Yes, that will be sure to slow down the flood across the border.

Such a large-scale move on immigration could scramble election-year politics and lead some conservative Republicans to push for impeachment proceedings against President Barack Obama, a prospect White House officials have openly discussed…

Only because it is a distraction and fundraising tool.

No Mention Of Amnesty In GOP List Of Obama Overreach

From Breitbart:

John Boehner Does Not Mention Immigration in Op-Ed on Obama Lawsuit

By Matthew Boyle | July 28, 2014

President Obama is practically shouting from the rooftops that he’s about to grant a new unilateral amnesty to as many as six million illegal aliens, but the topic of immigration does not come up in a new op-ed from Speaker John Boehner explaining his lawsuit against Obama for lawlessness.

In the op-ed, Boehner explains why he chose to focus the lawsuit only on Obamacare. “On the advice of legal experts, the House action will focus on his decision to extend–twice–the deadline to institute the employer mandate in his healthcare law,” Boehner wrote. “We believe this targeted lawsuit offers the best chance of success.”

In the op-ed, Boehner mentioned other issues in which he thinks Obama has acted outside the bounds of the law–but he ignored immigration, and specifically the Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals (DACA) program.

Congress Phone Lines Jammed In Response To Sessions

From Breitbart:

Fearing Obama Unilateral Amnesty Threats, Tea Party Jams Congress’s Phone Lines

By Matthew Boyle | July 28, 2014

The phone lines are jammed. The American people have risen up in response to a rallying cry from Sens. Jeff Sessions (R-AL) and Ted Cruz (R-TX), overloading the phone lines on Capitol Hill to pressure their members of Congress to fight against President Obama’s planned executive amnesty for millions of illegal aliens…

“This shows the American people are going to resist,” a Sessions aide told Breitbart News. “The crescendo will grow. They are only beginning to be heard. They will get louder in the coming days.”

Let’s hope so. But this is the reason Obama is pulling this stunt on Friday is because Congress will already be on its five week vacation.

Jeff Sessions Calls On US To Stop Obama’s Lawlessness

From Breitbart:

Jeff Sessions on Obama’s Executive Amnesty: Congress Faces ‘Time of Choosing’ at ‘Perilous Hour’

By Tony Lee | July 28, 2014

It’s now or never for opponents of President Barack Obama’s lawlessness on illegal immigration. Saying America faces a "perilous hour," and members of Congress are entering a "momentous week" when it comes to the future of the separation of powers, Sen. Jeff Sessions (R-AL) urged his colleagues on Monday to "be counted" and "stand up" to Obama’s "lawless actions, and sponsor legislation that will block him" from granting amnesty to millions more illegal immigrants.

It’s astonishing and appalling that it has come to this. A Senator has to beg his fellow Congressmen and countrymen to do something to stop Obama’s upcoming executive orders, which will overturn what’s left of our immigration laws.

Obama Wants To Close Border – To Companies Leaving US

From Reuters:

Obama could curb corporate ‘inversions’ on his own: ex-U.S. official

By Kevin Drawbaugh | July 27, 2014

WASHINGTON (Reuters) – President Barack Obama could act without congressional approval to limit a key incentive for U.S. corporations to move their tax domiciles abroad in so-called "inversion" deals, a former senior U.S. Treasury Department official said on Monday.

By invoking a 1969 tax law, Obama could bypass congressional gridlock and restrict foreign tax-domiciled U.S companies from using inter-company loans and interest deductions to cut their U.S. tax bills, said Stephen Shay, former deputy assistant Treasury secretary for international tax affairs in the Obama administration.

In other words, US corporations are cutting their US taxes by buying companies overseas and making them the official tax residence for the company.

NYT Editorial Demands Repeal Of Marijuana ‘Prohibition’

From a cheering Reuters:

New York Times backs sending federal marijuana ban up in smoke

By Alex Dobuzinskis | July 26, 2014

(Reuters) – The New York Times editorial board on Saturday endorsed a repeal of the federal ban on marijuana, becoming the largest paper in the nation to back the idea as it compared the U.S. government’s stance on America’s most widely used illicit drug to the prohibition on alcohol from 1920 to 1933.

How creative of them! And never mind that this is the same NYT that has published more than 226,000 articles over the years attacking cigarettes. And the same NYT that has recently launched a relentless jihad against E-Cigarettes.

But marijuana cigarettes are ‘the bomb.’

The post on the newspaper’s website is part of an editorial series that in the coming days will explore different aspects of marijuana use, from health effects to how the criminal justice system treats it…

Does the NYT think they have advanced the gay agenda as far as it can go, and they are now picking up another George Soros/Obama cause?

Judge Declares Open Carry Ban In DC Unconstitutional

From the Washington Post:

Federal judge declares D.C. ban on carrying handguns in public unconstitutional

By Martin Weil, Clarence Williams and Julie Zauzmer | July 27, 2014

A federal judge has declared that one of the District’s principal gun control laws is unconstitutional and ordered that its enforcement be halted. The ruling by Judge Frederick J. Scullin Jr., made public Saturday, orders the city to end its prohibition against carrying a pistol in public.

(For the record, Judge Scullin was originally appointed to the federal bench by President GHW Bush. He is also a judge on the FISA court.)

It was not clear what immediate effect the order would have…

There wouldn’t be a any lack of clarity from the WP if this had gone the other way.

If Elections Were Today Romney Would Win (Yet Again)

From CNN:

CNN Poll: Romney tops Obama but loses to Clinton

July 27, 2014

Washington (CNN) – If a rematch of the 2012 presidential election were held today, GOP nominee Mitt Romney would top President Barack Obama in the popular vote, according to a new national survey.

Remember how Obama let it be known during the campaign he couldn’t stand the idea of losing to Romney, because then Romney would get all of the credit for turning the country around, when it would all be due to Obama’s doing? Good times.

But a CNN/ORC International poll also indicates that if Romney changes his mind and runs again for the White House, Hillary Clinton would best him by double digits in a hypothetical showdown.

Thank Allah, CNN added that about Hillary.

Rahm Emanuel Wants To Shelter ‘Kids’ Fleeing Violence

From the Chicago Tribune:

Mayor wants Chicago to shelter young immigrants

By Juan Perez Jr. [sic] | July 26, 2014

Mayor Rahm Emanuel’s administration is set to aggressively expand the amount of shelter available to children apprehended at the southern U.S. border, with plans to house as many as 1,000 additional young immigrants in Chicago by the end of this year.

"The influx of unaccompanied child migrants is a growing humanitarian crisis that we can no longer ignore," Emanuel said in a statement.

"While we have our own challenges at home, we cannot turn our backs on children that are fleeing dangerous conditions," the mayor said.

There were at least 23 shootings in Chicago over the weekend. And, according US government statistics back in January of this year the number of people murdered in Chicago (4,265) surpassed the number of US soldiers killed in Afghanistan (2,166) over the same time frame.
