Politico: Don’t Hate Lois Lerner, She Likes Animals & Cries

From the Politico:

Exclusive: Lois Lerner breaks silence

By RACHAEL BADE | September 22, 2014

Employers won’t hire her. She’s been berated with epithets like “dirty Jew.” Federal agents have guarded her house because of death threats. And she’s spent hundreds of thousands of dollars defending herself against accusations she orchestrated a coverup in a scandal that has come to represent everything Americans hate about the IRS.

In other words, Ms. Lerner is a victim. Who knew? (Also, who knew she was Jewish? Or cared?)

Lois Lerner is toxic — and she knows it. But she refuses to recede into anonymity or beg for forgiveness for her role in the IRS tea party-targeting scandal.

“I didn’t do anything wrong,” Lerner said in her first press interview since the scandal broke 16 months ago.

LA Times: ISIS Recruiting Women To ‘Have Kids And Cook’

From an outraged (at the sexism) Los Angeles Times:

Islamic State recruiting women to ‘have kids and cook’

By Raja Abdulrahim | September 22, 2014

Months after declaring an Islamic caliphate, Islamic State, which has seized large swaths of Syria and Iraq, is seeking to address a need of any viable nation: women. In Internet posts and social media messaging, the extremist Sunni militants are recruiting women to marry their fighters and have children, part of a larger strategy of state-building.

"They are treating the Islamic State as a country that needs women," said Rita Katz, director of the SITE Intelligence Group, which monitors online activity by militant organizations. "The message is: ‘You are coming to marry someone immediately and have kids and cook.’ They’re building a state." …

Boy, is ISIS asking for it now.

Dem Rep: 40 ‘American’ ISIS Fighters Are Back In The US

From the Washington Free Beacon:

Dem Rep: 40 American ISIL Fighters Have Already Returned to the United States

By Adam Kredo | September 19, 2014

Rep. Tim Bishop (D., N.Y.) warned during a recent speech that up to 40 radicalized U.S. citizens who have fought alongside the Islamic State of Iraq and Levant (ISIL or ISIS) have already returned to the United States, where they could pose a terrorist threat.

For the record, Mr. Bishops represents the 1st Congressional District of New York, which covers the eastern end of Long Island. Which means he represents the Hamptons.

Bishop claims that of the 100 or so Americans who have traveled to the Middle East to join ISIL’s ranks, some 40 have returned and are currently being surveilled by the FBI, according to his remarks, which were filmed and uploaded to YouTube last week.

Three Afghan Soldiers Missing From Cape Cod, MA Base

From an unfazed CNN:

Afghan Soldiers Go Missing in Massachusetts

By Allison Oskin | September 22, 2014

(CNN) — Three Afghan National Army soldiers, who were in Massachusetts for training, have gone missing after a trip to a shopping mall, authorities said. It’s the second time in week that Afghan security trainees in the United States have disappeared.

The three soldiers do not appear to pose any threat to the public, the Massachusetts National Guard said.

Really? Exactly how do they know that?

Earlier this month, two Afghan police officers training with the DEA wandered off during a sightseeing trip to Georgetown, CNN affiliate WJLA reported. They decided they wanted to stay in the United States, but authorities found them and sent them home.

How unfair!

Panetta: US Should Have Armed Rebels, Stayed In Iraq

From Fox News:

Panetta says US paying the price for not arming Syrian rebels

September 22, 2014

Former Secretary of Defense Leon Panetta… ho served in the Obama administration from July 2011 to February 2013, said in an interview on CBS News’ “60 Minutes” that he was in support of arming the moderate Syrian rebels in 2012, along with several other members of the administration.

“I think that would’ve helped,” Panetta said. “And I think in part, we pay the price for not doing that in what we see happening with ISIS.” …

However, Obama decided against it. “I think the president’s concern, and I understand it, was that he had a fear that if we started providing weapons, we wouldn’t know where those weapons would wind up,” Panetta said.

US Concerned About Continuing Syrian Chemical Attacks

From ABC News:

U.S. ‘Gravely Concerned’ About Syria Chemical Attacks

September 21, 2014

WASHINGTON — The U.S. is "gravely concerned" about the Organization for the Prohibition of Chemical Weapons’s findings last week of systematic and repeated chlorine attacks in northern Syria, Secretary of State John Kerry said in a written statement Sunday.

"The Assad regime must know that it will be held to account for such use in the international community," Kerry said, noting that the report raises "especially troubling concerns that continued chemical attacks on the Syrian people by the regime could occur."

What’s this?! We thought this problem was already solved when Obama declared his famous ‘red line.’ And then he got Syria to agree to turn over all of their chemical weapons to our trusted friends and allies the Russians.

Secret Service Holds Review As Fence-Jumper Enters WH

From the Washington Post:

Secret Service reviews White House security after fence-jumper enters mansion

By Carol D. Leonnig, Spencer Hsu and Annys Shin | September 20, 2014

The Secret Service on Saturday launched a security review to learn how a man carrying a knife was able to get inside the front door of the White House on Friday night after jumping a fence and sprinting more than 70 yards across the North Lawn — the first time that has ever happened.

The success Omar J. Gonzalez, 42, had in breaching White House security Friday night — roughly 10 minutes after the president and his daughters lifted off the south grounds in his helicopter for Camp David — exposed new, worrisome gaps in the Secret Service’s extensive efforts to keep the first family safe and make the White House a “hard target.” …

Why does the White House even have a fence?

Black Women’s Group Want Black Women On NFL Panel

From Breitbart:

‘Unacceptable': Black Woman’s Group Slams NFL For No Black Women on Domestic Violence Panel

By Warner Todd Huston | September 19, 2014

An African American women’s group labels it "unacceptable" that the NFL did not include any black women as consultants on its new domestic violence panel…

Funny, but that’s exactly what Jesse Jackson said.

[While] the Black Women’s Roundtable, a group that claims to represent black females of all ages, celebrated the National Football League’s decision to create the advisory panel on domestic violence, it noted the absence of black women for a panel that will examine cases in a majority-black league. African-American women constitute the alleged victims in several of the current cases against players.

The group said in a statement that the "lack of inclusion of women of color, especially black women who are disproportionately impacted by domestic violence and sexual assault; and the fact that over 66% of the NFL players are made up of African-Americans, is unacceptable."

The hell you say.

29% Want Goodell To Resign, 89% Won’t Watch NFL Less

From Breitbart:

Poll: Few Americans Think Roger Goodell Should Resign; 89% Won’t Watch NFL Less Because of Scandals

September 19, 2014

Few Americans agree with ESPN’s Keith Olbermann and the National Organization for Women that NFL Commissioner Roger Goodell should resign.

An NBC/Marist poll found that just 29 percent of Americans surveyed believe the commissioner should leave his post because of the alleged criminal behavior of several high-profile players…

Vast cultural differences exist among regions on corporal punishment. The poll found a third of Americans supporting parents’ rights to discipline children with a belt, switch, or paddle. A slight majority of Southerners supported the rights of parents to employ such discipline. Adrian Peterson allegedly used a switch to discipline his four-year-old son.

Just more than half of the respondents believe the NFL mishandled the recent domestic violence cases.

Scott Walker Accused Of OSHA Violation In Campaign Ad

From the Washington Examiner:

Scott Walker accused of violating OSHA when he climbs out of pit in ad

By Sean Higgins | September 17, 2014

Wisconsin Gov. Scott Walker’s opponents are accusing him of violating the Occupational Health and Safety Administrations regulations in a campaign re-election ad in which he is the only person who appears. That is, he is being accused of physically endangering himself.

In the 30-second ad, titled "Comeback," Walker appears arguing that the state has rebounded economically under his watch. The governor does this while climbing out a dirt pit about 10 feet deep, an effort to symbolize him getting the state out of the financial hole it had dug itself into.

Jeff Kaminiski, president of United Steelworkers Local 2006, which is based in Oak Creek, Wis., said the ad really symbolizes Walker’s disregard for Wisconsin workers because he does not observe proper OSHA regulations while he gets out of the pit…

The governor’s alleged violations include not wearing a hat or safety goggles, the pit not being properly reinforced, and using a ladder that is not regulation length.

Miley Cyrus Spanking With Mexican Flag Triggers Probe

From TMZ:

Miley Cyrus — Mexican Flag Ass Stunt Triggers Criminal Investigation

September 18, 2014

Miley Cyrus could go to jail for getting her ass whipped on stage … with a Mexican flag.

Miley was performing Tuesday night — on Mexican Independence Day, mind you — in Monterrey, Mexico when one of her dancers slapped her prosthetic butt with a Mexican flag.

Apparently Mexican officials are super sensitive about disrespecting national symbols so the congress of the state of Nuevo Leon wants her prosecuted. The crime of desecration carries a $1,200 fine and a 36 hour jail sentence.

It wouldn’t be the first time a singer crossed the line South of the border. Paulina Rubio was fined $4K for appearing naked in a mag … draped in a Mexican flag.

De Blasio Gives Incentives For Illegals To Get ID Cards

From Reuters:

New York offers illegal immigrants zoo trips, museum tours with ID cards

By Laila Kearney | September 18, 2014

NEW YORK (Reuters) – New York Mayor Bill de Blasio offered free access to some of his city’s famed cultural destinations on Thursday in a bid to coax illegal immigrants to join an identification card program aimed at helping them do ordinary things like sign a rental lease.

And, before you know it, vote.

Among the perks offered by the Democratic mayor were free or reduced-price admission to places like the Bronx Zoo, New York City Ballet, Metropolitan Museum of Art and Carnegie Hall for all of next year…

"The municipal ID is a powerful tool to bring more New Yorkers out of the shadows and into the mainstream," de Blasio said in a statement.

GOP Enters Midterms Without Conservative Manifesto

From the Washington Examiner:

GOP heads into midterms without detailed conservative manifesto

By Joseph Lawler | September 19, 2014

Republicans are hoping for another midterm election victory, but are going into November without the ambitious, detailed agenda that some on the Right would like to see.

It’s understandable the Republican Party isn’t offering a ‘conservative manifesto,’ given that their leadership is not conservative.

Unlike when the Tea Party-boosted GOP retook the House of Representatives in 2012, or in the 1994 Gingrich Revolution, Republicans are not offering a Pledge to America or Contract with America…

What would they pledge? Slightly slower amnesty? Slightly less intrusive Obama-Care?

House Speaker John Boehner released a five-point economic plan Thursday that outlined general areas of reform, including cutting spending and reforming taxes…

Even if these were exciting issues (and they’re not), why should we believe them?
