Sweetness & Light

Sweetness & Light was begun in August 2005 by Steve Gilbert (left), raconteur, boulevardier and preux chevalier.

After graduating from St. John’s College, and a stint in an unnamed intelligence agency, Mr. Gilbert has labored in various vineyards loosely related to the show business.

A lifelong news maven, Mr. Gilbert has been chronicling our nation’s political life since the advent of the internet. Notably, much of his original research on the post-Vietnam shenanigans of John Kerry found its way into the second half of the Swiftboat Veterans’ book, "Unfit For Command."

Since starting Sweetness & Light Mr. Gilbert has broken many important stories on everything from Cindy Sheehan to Hurricane Katrina, the anti-war movement, Haditha, and of course the recent Presidential campaign.

Indeed, S&L was the first to report on Reverend Wright’s racist church and his anti-US diatribes.

In February, the vaunted Conservative Political Action Conference (CPAC) awarded Sweetness & Light its "Blogger Of The Year" award for 2009.

Mr. Gilbert resides in the belly-est of the beast, on the Upper Westside of Manhattan. He is attended there by his lovely and talented wife (right) and their lovely and talented cat (not pictured).
