16 Arrested At ‘Nonviolence Concert’

From those peaceniks at the Associated Press:

KRS-One Re-launched the Stop The Violence campaign in October 2007.

16 arrested in fight at nonviolence concert

Mon Mar 9

SILVER SPRING, Md. – Montgomery County police say 16 people were arrested after a fight broke out during a concert held to promote nonviolence and to remember a Silver Spring teen killed last year.

The free Stop the Violence youth concert was held Saturday night on Ellsworth Street in downtown Silver Spring in memory of 14-year-old Montgomery Blair High School student Tai Lam, who was shot to death in November.

Police say fighting broke out near the stage toward the end of the concert and at least one person resisted arrest. Police say 16 adults and juveniles were arrested for offenses such as assault and disorderly conduct.

Isn’t irony ironic?

I guess the medium is the message.

  2. Colonel1961 says:

    ‘Isn’t it ironic?’ That’d be a great theme for a song…

  3. Consilience says:

Silver Spring is hot-bed of leftists, commies, and tree-hugging abortionists…nice to see all the harmony among such peace-loving/pacifist folks…

  4. untrainable says:

So let me get this straight. A concert put on for the purpose of stopping violence was the site of violence. Was anybody in the audience listening? Maybe that was the problem. They didn’t know if they were supposed to listen to the message of the event, or the message of the music. Anybody know who entertained the crowd into their violent frenzy? From the photo above, I dare say they weren’t singing puff the magic dragon…

Well here on the local tv and talk radio stations they keep stressing that the violence was caused by hands, not knives and guns. Guess it’s the DC mindset where only criminals have guns and we must keep them from the regular folks.
My husband was born in Silver Spring. His mother is a lunatic who loves the dimocraptic party.

Suffice to say, the photo says it all.

I was bored and read KRS-One’s (the gentleman in the picture) wikipedia page. Interesting stuff.

I had forgotten he had made some idiotic statements about 9/11 (“we cheered when 9/11 happened”) but I didn’t realize he wrote a song called “Free Mumia”. I had heard of him before, primarily from a song he and REM collaborated on (“Radio Song”) and a “We Are The World” type hip-hop song from the early 90’s called “Self-destruction”.

If you are so stupid that you need to be told to stop violence, then you are too stupid to head the already intuitive message.

But Americans love do-nothing, feel-good garbage like this.

  7. 12 Gauge Rage says:

Words fail me. Why is it that the so called progressives are so prone to violence? You never hear of violence breaking out at shooting range where all us ‘violent’ second amendment supporters hang out.

    • Consilience says:

Because, as a rule, the so-called “progressives” have no moral center and live in morally relative world…making life precarious under their leaderhsip (abortion comes to mind)…

  8. 12 Gauge Rage says:

I agree. Almost without fail, every person I’ve ever met who was an environmentalist had no moral compass and were the biggest, militant pro-abortionists I ever had the displeasure of meeting.

    • Right of the People says:

I’m with you 12G Rage, how about the PETA perverts who put out poisoned dog food to kill hunting dogs so they would be accomplices in the hunting of birds? How come they never want to save the alligators or warthogs or some other non-cute and cuddly critter? I guess if it’s ugly it’s not worth saving.

  9. Gladius et Scutum says:

Walter Reed is located right on the city line with Silver Spring. When our wounded warriors sneak out for a smoke, guess what kind of neighborhood their in?

  10. Barbie says:

    Who’s surprised?
