16 Yr Old Charged With ‘Bias Intimidation’

From an outraged (at the hate crime) Associated Press:

Gloucester County, New Jersey prosecutor Sean Dalton, right, and Washington Township Police chief Rafael Muniz, left, announce police have arrested a 16-year-old Atlantic County boy on charges of harassment and bias intimidation.

Police: Boy, 16, made racial comment at NJ Walmart

By Bruce Shipkowski, Associated Press Writer

March 20, 2010

WASHINGTON TOWNSHIP, N.J. – A 16-year-old boy who police said made an announcement at Walmart ordering all black people in the southern New Jersey store to leave was charged with harassment and bias intimidation, authorities said Saturday.

The boy, whose name is not being released because he is a juvenile, went on the intercom at Walmart’s Washington Township store Sunday evening and calmly announced: "Attention, Walmart customers: All black people, leave the store now," police said.

The teen was arrested Friday and released to the custody of his parents; police did not know whether he had a lawyer.

"This was an extremely disturbing event on many levels," Gloucester County Prosecutor Sean Dalton said at a news conference. "Any statements like these that can cause harm or grave concern must be addressed as quickly we possibly can."

Dalton said the case would be handled in juvenile court in neighboring Atlantic County, where the boy lives. He would not say whether the boy has a criminal record, citing the teen’s age, and would not disclose the teen’s race, saying that did not factor into the investigation.

The 16-year-old has been charged with harassment and bias intimidation.

Authorities would not say whether the announcement was planned or made impulsively. Police said they were also investigating a teenage boy who accompanied the suspect to the store, but the other boy has not been charged.

Although a manager quickly went on the intercom system and apologized for the remark, many customers expressed their anger to store management. Some community members said Saturday that they’ve heard reports of similar incidents happening at the store in recent months that were not reported to police.

"We are concerned about that, and we’re looking into these incidents. We want to work with the community to make sure these types of incidents don’t happen," said Loretta Winters, president of the Gloucester County chapter of the NAACP.

Exactly how will the NAACP make sure such juvenile pranks “extremely disturbing events” don’t happen?

Winters said she hopes the boy will get counseling and be educated about sensitivity so he can understand the consequences of his actions.

"I’m assuming this person didn’t realize how hurtful his comments were," she said…

Off to the re-education camp – that is, after he has served his hard time.

However, the National Association for the Advancement of Colored People has said [WalMart] has worked hard in recent years to show it cares about diversity.

Translation: WalMart has contributed a lot of money to the NAACP lately.

    “Lawyer up” young man.

People of color want yo ash!

  2. murphys_law says:

They arrested the kid for a comment, and that is a hate crime?
Black folks are very funny yet they have no sense of humor.

    • Mithrandir says:

The liberals have trained them for decades to be victims and demand money. It should come as no surprise that fascism is alive and well, not to mention the inevitable shakedown that Wal*Mart will have to endure for something they didn’t do.

  3. Rusty Shackleford says:

    “Bias intimidation”????

Gotta say. That’s a new one on me. I guess it must come from the “magic buzzwords of legalese generator”.

    Dass rite….you be BY-issed. You in-TIM-i-datin’ me.

Perhaps the teen should’ve used his bess “negro dialect”.

Kids do dumb things. The Walmart manager should send him home for a few days, then explain how retail works and how to not offend customers. No need to say much more than that.

Next thing you know, the NAACP will want to charge the kid’s parents with “Bias raisin’ ”

And, interestingly enough, the more I hear of these types of things, the more I intentionally avoid black people. So far, it’s worked out pretty good.

    • JohnMG says:

I think if the blacks want to boycott Wal-Mart, that’s OK. As soon as they begin to wander back from their self-imposed exile, Wal-Mart should impose a reverse-boycott on blacks and refuse to sell to them.

I know they would suffer in the short-term, but think how much money they’d save by not paying out exhorbitant settlements when the animal element tramples people on ‘black Friday’. And I’m almost sure they would realize a drop in pilfered merchandise and other sundry shoplifted items if stores in some of the urban areas were closed–perhaps enough savings that the revenue would balance out.

I seldom shop at Wal-Mart, but I’d gladly start frequenting them more if they just showed some balls and stood on principle. Instead, they’ll cave and donate additional million$ to the shakedown elite.

      I know, I know. I’m a racist!! (doing a not-so-slow burn) :-{{

P.S. If the kid had ordered all white people to leave the store, nothing would have been said. How much effect would a ‘white botcott’ have had on the bottom line for Wal-Mart? Is the whole world populated with idiots? Yeah, yeah, I know. Stupid question.

  5. BigOil says:

“Bias intimidation”. Translation – bein dissed.

Just goes to show you that there are way too many laws in this country.

  6. proreason says:

“Winters said she hopes the boy will get counseling and be educated about sensitivity so he can understand the consequences of his actions.”

    What consequences?

I would think that the savings from the temporary elimination of shoplifting would more than outweigh the soiled underwear of the thieves.

    • JohnMG says:

Personally, I’m hoping he gets his own stand-up comedy routine.

It was a PRANK for cryin’ out loud!

Eric Holder has been wrong on so many topics, but one of the most glaring errors was when he said we’re a nation of cowards when it comes to discussing race. We’re not a nation of cowards–we’re a nation of cry babies!

    • Mithrandir says:

It doesn’t pay to have thick skin, it pays to be a frail, overly sensitive minority whose great great grandparents (may or may not) have been slaves.

If I was that 16 year old, I would not plea bargain down ANYTHING. I would make the state pay for my attorney, pay for a trial, and pay for my incarceration, and perhaps pay for counseling and probation. At 18, the record is erased anyway, so why worry about it?

I wouldn’t let them shake me down to pay for a system that is corrupt. You want punishment, you PAY for everything, and then the state gets punished in return.

    • biteme says:

Holder also said that “…this nation has proudly thought of itself as an ethnic melting pot…” but we are NOT a melting pot anymore. These &^%#$’s come to our country and TAKE IT OVER. They do whatever they want, take whatever they want, dont’ speak English and IGNORE everyone else who was already here – unless they can use them for something. They are looking for a handout and sucking the life out of hard-working Americans. And we are not allowed to speak our anger about it. I am 52 years old – my parents and their parents belonged to a melting pot. We were and ARE pround to be Americans. OUR COUNTRY is America, not where we CAME from!!!!!

  7. jrmcdonald says:

But he can stand outside a voting station with a club – right Mr. Holder???

  8. Mithrandir says:

(slapping hands together) This end a long and storied chapter in American history. –Well done indeed!

This is just further evidence that we are living in a near total police state. That they would use their time and effort to investigate a silly prank, and then charge someone, throw them in jail, and keep the probation system humming along is sickening.

I am more outraged that our system would bother with such a thing, than the thing itself.

Now, how are black folks going to profit from this? There HAS to be some sort of kick back…..just like the noose-stories on college campuses, there must be some money changing hands to make it alllllll better.

  9. jimreport says:

Bias intimidation is kind of like being a self appointed poll worker, but without the stick.

  10. biteme says:

(Freedom of speech – for all the morons who don’t know what it is)

It wont be long before we cant comment on line here either!

The only (stupid) thing Walmart did was have a P.A. system available to the public.

And they wonder why there are hate crimes.

  11. mr_bill says:

“Bias Intimidation” is a complete fabrication of a “crime.” But lets play devil’s advocate and say that it is a legitimate “crime.” A black person cannot be charged with a crime for saying the same words a white person would be charged for using. The transient and indefinite nature of the offense for which one would be charged does not apply equally to all people. Equal and predictable application of the law is a requisite for constitutionality. Beyond that, it relies upon a subjective interpretation of the “victim” to determine whether a “crime” has been committed. Those with a higher tolerance cease to be victims because of their perception of the event. The U.S. system of law does not operate in this manner for any other crime. Murder, for example, does not cease to be murder because of the victim’s perception of the event. Welcome to the new era of “progressive” law and the thought police.

  12. canary says:

“Bias Intimidation” should get Obama jailed for life. Don’t worry, Obama wrote soon whites will be a minority. They will have to change all the laws.

    • Mithrandir says:

Whites are already segregated and minorities.

Census: Whites = 100 million (50 million are women who are ‘minorities)

      Non-Whites = 200 million

So,…50 million ‘majorities’ vs. 250 million ‘minorities’

  13. MinnesotaRush says:

How ’bout him saying, “okay .. everybody in the store stop by aisle 7 for your required drug test and aisle 9 for your required warrant checks”.

Kinda delivering the same message in a more “politically correct” manner.

    Just sayin’, ya’ know.

  14. jobeth says:

I don’t have to wonder how much bigger this “horror” would have been if it had happened in the deep south. Every southern white person would have been smeared with the racist brush…yet again. The south and white men are the only ‘unprotected’ against bias.

This, however happened in New Jersey….in the enlightened north. So while the kid will be over penalized for a youthful and stupid remark, if it had been in the south I’m sure every NAACP dodo head would be locking arms and storming the whole south.

Listening today to the health care situation the high profile blacks marched across the bridge right through the anti health care protesters. Surprise!!! These same blacks are now claiming the tea partyers called them the “N” word. And spit on them. Who couldn’t see that coming?

Strange that has NEVER been the MO of the teapartiers in the past. I suspect a few plants in that group…just so these idiots could claim racism.

  15. sheehanjihad says:

Watch carefully as one of the next teaparty protests breaks out into riots….of course the SEIU thugs and the cheaply purchased professional protesters from the anarchy ilk will start it, and then run for cover as old people who are trying to protect themselves are arrested and jailed with the media covering every nano second of it.

This is going to happen….count on it. That name calling and spitting incident was manufactured by the racists marching across the street and hoping against hope something would happen. It didnt happen, so they say it did, and being black, their word is taken as Gospel by the press.

There were hundreds of cameras filming that walk…and NO WHERE is there any record of anything of the sort. Dont think for a minute that if one of those racists were spit on that they wouldnt milk it for everything they could…and any names called out would be on tape somewhere….and there isnt any. I am sorely disappointed in Fox News reporting it like it happened…..even they are intimidated by the black caucus.

The race card still works. And expect it to be used a lot more as the momentum to repo our country takes a huge leap after today. This isnt going away….and the congress will have things a lot greater than imagined and hoped for insults to worry about come November. They have no idea how serious the majority is…they are out of a job. This is just the beginning, and words are not going to count as much as actions. Take action this fall. VOTE THEM OUT!!!!!!!!!

    just in——
Capitol PD spokesperson Kimberly Schneider told MSNBC by email that no arrests were made concerning a spitter… so the racial slurs were lies by the race baiting CBC….and the “spitter” was non existent. Another race baiting lie by race baiting CBC members. Bullshit is bullshit. Vote them out. All of them.

    • jobeth says:

I’m with you on this. And I agree that if it had really happened, someone would have insisted on that person’s arrest. Instead, the person who was supposedly spit on decided to not press charges. Right. Sure he did. If he had pressed charges it would have been on his plant and that wasn’t part of the agreement.

You said it right…if someone had spit on them or called out the “N” word…the hay that would made would be a boon to them. Lots of coverage against the tea partiers.

They couldn’t do it because no one else chimed in. It’s not what tea partiers are about. It’s not what tea partiers do….ever. These are law abiding, responsible people who are using their constitutional rights to protest a travesty against this country and it’s people.

I am so heartsick about this whole health care issue. And we aren’t through with it yet.
Not only that but O’Balmy isn’t through yet. He has more packages in the pipeline to dismantal these United States.

Man, we better all turn up at the polls in November. There is a lot to do to even TRY to undo some of this stuff.

    • Mithrandir says:

      McCain rally hatchet-job part 2:

Making claims of “kill him” and “nigger” sound familiar?

Besides, as Obama attended a racist church for 20 years, Republicans get a free pass on anything for life!

  16. Perdido says:

It won’t be repealed. Try to think of a single big ticket item that has EVER been repealed. They’ll start in immediately extolling the virtues and the bravery and the leadership.

All the hell raised will get some trimming around the edges because the savants you send to replace the idiots you dismissed are just a different flavor of Statists.

The reason we have all this intrusion and stupidity is because we have so many people on the government check. If we reduced the size of the gov’t drastically the few remaining wouldn’t have time for this petty nonsense. This hyper-sensitivity is a form of luxury.

We need to quit paying the bills for these jackasses.

    • sheehanjihad says:

If enough people stop paying their bills, which by the way is OUR TAXES, they wont have much choice but to downsize or face an out and out civil war. I was taught to fight for this country and defend it against all enemies, both foreign and domestic. I dont see where there is any distinction left between “us” and “them”. And I am going to act accordingly. We had one revolution to free us from tyranny….and now we face an evil that no one could have ever imagined. So either you sit back and take it, or you stand up to it, and defeat it. The time has come to choose.

  17. Mithrandir says:

Sorry guys, but he’s right. Once you are a slave to the gov’t, you are a slave forever. Our system is engineered to be very slow, and repealing anything is nearly impossible.

You have to get a super-majority to have a revolution, and right now, America is divided sharply about 50%-50%. And even if you had 80% that wanted a revolution, you would have to be organized, and the government has too many spies out there infiltrating organizations. They would try to throw all 80% in prison before they were able to enact a revolution.

The only thing they can’t stop, are lone wolfs. And they are working on mind reading devices to root them out too.

    Welcome to George Orwell’s 1984!
