2 Illegal Aliens Charged With Murder Of Off Duty BP Agent

From the CBS affiliate in the Rio Grand Valley, Texas, KRVG:

2 Charged in Off-Duty Agent’s Death

Aug 4, 2014

WILLACY COUNTY – Authorities charged two Mexican nationals in the murder of an off-duty Border Patrol agent. The suspects are expected to be arraigned Tuesday.

Willacy County Sheriff Larry Spence identified the agent as Javier Vega Jr.

This sounds like a hate crime.

The sheriff said deputies got a call around 8 p.m. Sunday about a shooting off FM 1420, near Santa Monica. Investigators said the shooting stemmed from an attempted robbery. Vega, his parents, wife and possibly children were fishing on the levee when a vehicle drove by the site. The vehicle later returned and the men inside tried to rob the family.

At some point, shots were fired. Officials said Vega had his weapon and exchanged gunfire with the suspects. He was shot at least once in the chest. His father was shot in the hip. The sheriff said Vega’s mother called authorities about the shooting.

Sigh. Just think, all of this might have been avoided with stricter gun control laws. The off-duty officer would not have had a gun and would not have tried to fight back.

Vega’s family members gave authorities a description of the suspects’ vehicle. Border Patrol agents and DPS troopers assisted in the investigation.

Overnight, authorities found the suspects’ vehicle on FM 2629, close to the floodway. The vehicle was empty, but authorities found the suspects walking nearby.

Notice we aren’t told any details about the suspects. They are probably some of Obama’s ‘Dreamers.’ And they were probably on their way to turn themselves over to the BP for shelter and food and transportation to the American destination of their choice.
