2 Freed Gitmo Detainees In Al Qaeda Tape

From the Agence France-Pressee:

Two ex-Guantanamo inmates appear in Al-Qaeda video

WASHINGTON (AFP) — Two men released from the US "war on terror" prison at Guantanamo Bay, Cuba have appeared in a video posted on a jihadist website, the SITE monitoring service reported.

One of the two former inmates, a Saudi man identified as Abu Sufyan al-Azdi al-Shahri, or prisoner number 372, has been elevated to the senior ranks of Al-Qaeda in Yemen, a US counter-terrorism official told AFP.

Three other men appear in the video, including Abu al-Hareth Muhammad al-Oufi, identified as an Al-Qaeda field commander. SITE later said he was prisoner No. 333…

On the video, al-Shihri is seen sitting with three other men before a flag of the Islamic State of Iraq, the front for Al-Qaeda in Iraq.

"By Allah, imprisonment only increased our persistence in our principles for which we went out, did jihad for, and were imprisoned for," al-Shihri was quoted as saying

The other men in the video are identified as Commander Abu Baseer al-Wahayshi and Abu Hureira Qasm al-Rimi (also known as Abu Hureira al-Sana’ani).

The Defense Department has said as many as 61 former Guantanamo detainees — about 11 percent of 520 detainees transferred from the detention center and released — are believed to have returned to the fight.

The latest case highlights the risk the new US administration faces as it moves to empty Guantanamo of its remaining 245 prisoners and close the controversial detention camp within a year.

Once again, when did our one party media point out such dangers when they were demanding Mr. Bush close down Guantanamo and release everyone immediately?

All I see whenever one of these thugs’ picture is posted is a huge target.

Maybe before any more of these vermin is released, Obama has to hear their confession and grant them absolution after having them do their pennance.

The real criminal’s are now in charge of the assylum.

I agree these thugs are vermin, but have you noticed since their all expenses paid vacation at Club Gitmo they ALMOST look clean! And the first one looks like he has been lifting weights.

      Compare them with their countrymen.

Some torture chamber that Gitmo is..huh.

I’m thinking maybe they got used to being clean for a change.
Makes you kind of mad doesn’t it. Our guys in that stinking desert and these roaches get the country club routine. And now they are free again to create more havoc.

I say if any of them have to be transfered to US soil, give them to Sarah and put them up in NOME! No sun there! ha! She’ll know what to do with them.

I think Death Valley would be more to their liking. Imagine. Micro-chip each one, helo-drop them one at a time in the middle of Death Valley, 12 ounces of bottled water, a broken compass, no map, and a revolver loaded with one round of ammunition.

I know, I know. I’m being too easy on them, but I am a humanitarian, after all.

A man after my own heart!

I was picturing them trying to excape in Nome. I think a nice minimum security prison with rickity fences to temp them to excape….How many feet do you think it would take before they become and icecycle…or better yet…food for the “endangered” polar bears! ? (if there are any polar bears there…don’t believe there are many)

I have to stop this…its too exciting!

    • jobeth says:

I KNOW, I spelled Icicle wrong! See, told you this stuff excites me!

    • JohnMG says:

That’s the reason for the micro-chip. You’d have to go retrieve the carcass. One look at these guys would gag a buzzard off a gut-wagon, and polar bears likely wouldn’t touch ’em either. Even carrion-eaters have their standards.

    • Enthalpy says:

No doubt about the allegiance of two of these people, but what about the other two?

    • JohnMG says:

They weren’t photo-genic enough to put in the video, but they’re ok to model the latest in suicide vests.

My own preference would be that all further prisoners be summarily shot while thinking about maybe escaping.

      But that’s just me.

    • Liberals Demise says:

jobeth….see what alittle waterboarding and some soap can do? 3 squares and some recreation does a terrorist good!

  2. Colonel1961 says:

Other than agreeing with the above assessment of what these alleged human beings represent, I have to notice that they look very well-nourished and physically fit – far more so than their follow travelers. A result of that good food down at Guantanamo – they don’t look tortured or neglected to me. Their newly-found resolve is from being tanned, rested, (well-fed) and ready…

Also, only an organization as impotent as AF-P could describe our ‘war on terror’ in quotation marks. I’m sorry we wasted a single American life to save those cheese-eaters… I fart in your general direction.

  3. TickTock says:

Give them to Castro. From the photos I’d say they’re related.

Either that, or let ’em swim for home. But I do like the Alaska idea…

  4. 4USA says:

The first one (pinky ring) is making a huge mistake. He could make a killing as one of the cavemen on those Geico commercials. Think about it…no make-up necessary. Easy money!

  5. JP says:

Maybe we could let them fight for their lives amongst each other in front of a national audience, ala Mad Max or The Running man. “10 terrorists enter, none of them leave”! You see, I too am a humanitarian.

Seriously though, does Barry know that these guys can’t legally vote for him? Someone better bring him up to speed on that.

    • proreason says:

“does Barry know that these guys can’t legally vote for him”

Why would the Moron start worrying about the legality of his voters now?

    • JohnMG says:

2012 looms on the horizon. Why do you think the bulk of the “stimulus package” monies doesn’t kick in until 2011-12–just in time for the next presidential election cycle. CAUTION: Carrot and Stick at Work!

He might need their votes by then.
