CAIR Calls 9/11 Coloring Book ‘Dangerous’

From an outraged Agence France-Presse:

9/11 coloring book criticized for depiction of Muslims

By Mira Oberman (AFP)
August 30, 2011

CHICAGO — A coloring book aimed at teaching children about the terrorist attacks of September 11, 2001 has generated controversy for its depiction of Muslims and interpretation of the events.

"It’s disgusting," said Dawud Walid, director of the Michigan branch of the Council on American-Islamic Relations, who has lead the charge against what he sees as an irresponsible and dangerous book.

Just out of curiosity, do you think CAIR has ever denounced any jihadist propaganda as "irresponsible and dangerous"? We would be interested in seeing some examples.

Every mention or depiction of Muslims or Islam in the book titled "We shall never forget 9/11", is accompanied by the word "terrorist" or "extremist"

From what we little we have seen, this is not true.

Obama’s Illegal Alien Uncle Has Nice House

From the UK’s Daily Mail:

Suburban life: Obama Oyango was living in a nice house in Framingham, Boston

Living the American dream… illegally! Revealed: The comfortable suburban life of Obama’s ‘drink-driving’ Uncle Omar

By John Stevens
31st August 2011

Passing the time relaxing on the front porch of his Massachusetts home, Obama Onyango looked to neighbours as if he was living the American dream.

But the 67-year-old long lost uncle of President Barack Obama was last week arrested for drunk-driving and found to be living in the U.S. illegally.

Now, MailOnline can reveal how the man the President called ‘Uncle Omar’ had been living in a nice house, hosted popular backyard barbecues and worked at a local liquor store.

Neighbours said that Onyango’s pale yellow house in leafy Framingham, a suburb of Boston, was always bustling with people.

Top Dem: Tea Party Wants To Lynch Blacks

From a not particularly outraged Politico:

Carson: Tea party wants blacks ‘hanging on a tree’

By: Jake Sherman
August 31, 2011

A top lawmaker in the Congressional Black Caucus says tea partiers on Capitol Hill would like to see African Americans hanging from trees and accuses the movement of wishing for a return to the Jim Crow era.

Rep. Andre Carson, a Democrat from Indiana who serves as the CBC’s chief vote counter, said at a CBC event in Miami that some in Congress would “love to see us as second-class citizens” and “some of them in Congress right now of this tea party movement would love to see you and me…hanging on a tree.”

Carson also said the tea party is stopping change in Congress, likening it to “the effort that we’re seeing of Jim Crow.”

The explosive comments, caught on tape, were uploaded on the internet Tuesday, and Carson’s office stood by the remarks.

Rick Perry Panic Fires Up The Usual Suspects

From the DNC’s Politico:

Perry panic fires up the left

By: Ben Smith and Maggie Haberman
August 30, 2011

In his two weeks as a presidential candidate, Rick Perry has done something that neither Barack Obama nor Mitt Romney could do: wake up the left.

Perry panic has spread from the conference rooms of Washington, D.C., to the coffee shops of Brooklyn, with the realization that the conservative Texan could conceivably become the 45th president of the United States, a wave of alarm centering around Perry’s drawling, small-town affect and stands on core cultural issues such as women’s rights, gun control, the death penalty, and the separation of church and state.

And not to mention that fact that, at least according to the Politico, he is as dumb as a box of Bidens.

Mayor Doomberg’s Spanish Inspires Parody

From a strangely amused Los Angeles Times:

New York mayor’s Spanish inspires parody, @ElBloombito

August 30, 2011

There’s English. There’s Spanish. There’s Spanglish. And there’s Mike Bloomberg’s version.

Since about one-third of all New Yorkers speak Spanish, the city’s mayor has regularly addressed them during his three terms in City Hall in their native language with an accent and grammar that can at best be described as earnest but painful.

Just out of curiosity, do you think the Los Angeles Times would make such comments about a non-native speaker’s heavily accented English?

During his many television appearances over the hurricane weekend, a Latino on his staff was standing nearby to translate Bloomberg’s warnings about preparing for Irene. But Bloomberg clearly felt that key admonitions about safety had to come from him in the city’s second language.

Buffett Company Owes Taxes Back To 2002

A news-filled editorial from the New York Post:

Warren Buffett, hypocrite

August 28, 2011

This one’s truly, uh … rich: Billionaire Warren Buffett says folks like him should have to pay more taxes — but it turns out his firm, Berkshire Hathaway, hasn’t paid what it’s already owed for years.

That’s right: As Americans for Limited Government President Bill Wilson notes, the company openly admits that it owes back taxes since as long ago as 2002.

“We anticipate that we will resolve all adjustments proposed by the US Internal Revenue Service (“IRS”) for the 2002 through 2004 tax years … within the next 12 months,” the firm’s annual report says.

It also cites outstanding tax issues for 2005 through 2009.

At some point you have to wonder if Mr.

$20M Taxpayer Dollars Nets 14 ‘Green’ Jobs

From Fox News:

Seattle Green Jobs Program Gets $20M, Creates 14 Posts

By Dan Springer
Published August 29, 2011 |

A green jobs program in one of America’s greenest cities is being called a bust 16 months after a $20 million federal grant to weatherize homes in Seattle ended up putting just 14 people to work in mostly administrative jobs and upgrading only three homes in the area.

"The jobs are not there," Todd Myers, who wrote the book "Eco Fads," told Fox News. "So we’re training people for jobs that don’t exist."

Seattle is not alone. The Department of Energy has allocated $508 million to 41 states for its Better Buildings Neighborhood Program and 600 jobs have been created or retained.

"While communities are advancing their programs at different rates, we are pleased with the progress," the agency wrote in a recent statement.

Obama Instructs Us How To Observe 9/11

From an approving New York Times:

White House Issues Guides on Sept. 11 Observances

August 29, 2011

WASHINGTON — The White House has issued detailed guidelines to government officials on how to commemorate the 10th anniversary of the Sept. 11 attacks, with instructions to honor the memory of those who died on American soil but also to recall that Al Qaeda and other extremist groups have since carried out attacks elsewhere in the world, from Mumbai to Manila.

And, of course, POCKEESTAHN. (And never mind that the ISI was probably behind the Mumbai attacks.)

The White House in recent days has quietly disseminated two sets of documents. One is framed for overseas allies and their citizens and was sent to American embassies and consulates around the globe.

Obama Must Up Spending To Get Re-Elected

From an already excuse-making Associated Press:

Obama faces tight restraints in crafting jobs plan

By JIM KUHNHENN – Associated Press
August 30, 2011

WASHINGTON (AP) — Hamstrung by budget cuts and a tight debt ceiling, President Barack Obama is preparing a September jobs package with limited tools at his disposal to prime the economy and crank up employment.

At a minimum, the president’s plan will call on Congress to extend current payroll tax cuts and jobless benefits, spend money for new construction projects and offer incentives to businesses to hire more workers.

In other words, Mr. Obama’s brave new plan is going to be comprised of exactly the same things he has been pushing since he took office.

In any case, entitlement spending must not be much of a problem, after all.

19% US Muslims Back Terrorism, Al Qaeda

From those tireless defenders of the faith at the Associated Press:

Most US Muslims feel targeted by terror policies

By HOPE YEN [sic] – Associated Press
August 30, 2011

WASHINGTON (AP) — More than half of Muslim-Americans in a new poll say government anti-terrorism policies single them out for increased surveillance and monitoring, and many report increased cases of name-calling, threats and harassment by airport security, law enforcement officers and others.

Still, most Muslim-Americans say they are satisfied with the way things are going in the U.S. and rate their communities highly as places to live.

The survey by the Pew Research Center, one of the most exhaustive ever of the country’s Muslims, finds no signs of rising alienation or anger among Muslim-Americans despite recent U.S.

No Republicans Allowed In Labor Day Parade

From the Wisconsin ABC affiliate, WAOW:

Labor Day parade organizers: No Republicans allowed in parade

Nate Barrett, Multimedia Journalist
Aug 27, 2011

WAUSAU (WAOW) –Labor Day parade organizers confirm that no Republicans will be allowed to participate in this year’s Labor Day Parade.

Council president Randy Radtke says they choose not to invite elected officials who have "openly attacked worker’s rights" or did nothing when state public workers lost most of their right to collectively bargain.

The parade is sponsored by the Marathon County Labor Council. A Wausau city spokeswoman said the city does not contribute any money to the parade.

Rep. Sean Duffy’s chief of staff, Brandon Moody, released a statement to Newsline 9:

"Having walked in this parade in past years, Congressman Duffy was hoping that for a moment, we could set our differences aside and simply have some fun in a family-friendly event."

And a few more details, via the Milwaukee Journal-Sentinel:

Second Quarter GDP ‘Revised’ Down To 1%

From CNN’s Money.Com:

Economy: ‘Slowdown is here to stay’

By Ben Rooney @CNNMoney August 26, 2011

NEW YORK (CNNMoney) — Economic growth in the second quarter was slightly weaker than previously estimated, according to revised U.S. government data released Friday.

Gross domestic product, the broadest measure of the nation’s economic health, rose at an annual rate of 1% in the second quarter, the Commerce Department said.

In July, the government estimated that GDP rose 1.3% in the second quarter.

Isn’t it funny how these numbers are always revised down under Mr. Obama. Under Mr. Bush they were usually revised up. Of course we seldom heard about that, either.

Economists were expecting the rate to be revised down to 1.1%, according to consensus estimates from…

Imagine, economists getting it wrong.

‘Rebels’ Won’t Extradite Lockerbie Bomber

From a tear soaked CNN:

Abdel Baset al-Megrahi,attends a pro-government rally in Tripoli in this still image from a July 26, 2011 video from Libyan state television.

Lockerbie bomber comatose, near death, family says

From Nic Robertson, CNN Senior International Correspondent
August 28, 2011

Tripoli, Libya (CNN) — Lockerbie bomber Abdel Basset al-Megrahi is comatose, near death and likely to take secrets of the attack on Pan Am Flight 103 to his grave.

CNN found al-Megrahi under the care of his family in his palatial Tripoli villa Sunday, surviving on oxygen and an intravenous drip.

CNN can find Mr. al-Megrahi when our intelligence agencies and even our supposed allies over there could not? For the record, that palatial villa was almost certainly paid for with his bonus money for taking down the Lockerbie flight.

Obama’s Illegal Alien Uncle Busted For DUI

From the Massachusetts’s based local news outlet, the MetroWest Daily News:

Cops: Illegal immigrant drove drunk in Framingham

By Norman Miller/Daily News staff
Posted Aug 26, 2011

FRAMINGHAM — A Framingham man illegally in the country from Kenya was drunk when he nearly ran his sport utility vehicle into a police car Wednesday night on Waverly Street, police said.

After the near crash, Onyango Obama, 67, told Officer Val Krishtal that Krishtal should have yielded to his Mitsubishi SUV, according to a report filed yesterday in Framingham District Court.

Krishtal said he and another driver had to slam on their brakes to avoid hitting the SUV, which rolled through a stop sign and took a quick left turn…

Obama failed several field sobriety tests and was arrested.

Reporter Gives Update Covered In ‘Sewage’

From the Fox News affiliate in Washington, DC, WTTG-TV:

Reporter Gives Update Covered In Sea Foam

Saturday, 27 Aug 2011

MYFOXNY.COM – A local news reporter from Washington, D.C. ended up getting covered in what is probably the remnants of raw sewage as he delivered live hurricane reports from Ocean City, Md.

WTTG-TV reporter Tucker Barnes was providing live updates for stations around the country as a wall of what he described as sea foam poured over him.

Barnes was on the boardwalk as Hurricane Irene hit the coast of Maryland

He noted that he had immersed himself in organic material. That "organic material" was most likely the effects of raw sewage pouring into the water during the storm.

"It doesn’t taste great," he said.
