2nd City To Do ‘Limbaugh The Musical’

Why should the Germans have all the fun?

From Chicago’s Second City website:

Rush Limbaugh! The Musical

Second City Theatricals is proud to present the world premiere of Rush Limbaugh! The Musical at The Second City e.t.c. (1608 North Wells in Piper’s Alley, Chicago, IL). The show will preview Sunday, January 31, 2010 at 2:00pm, open on Wednesday, February 3, 2010 at 8:30pm and will run Tuesdays and Wednesdays at 8:30pm and Sundays at 2:00pm until March 24, 2010 at The Second City e.t.c.

Brought to you by the same team that made Rod Blagojevich Superstar! an instant hit, Rush Limbaugh! The Musical takes us back to Rush’s humble beginnings and follows his ascent to conservative dominance buoyed by characters like Ann Coulter, Karl Rove, and Donald Rumsfeld despite confrontations with Hillary Clinton and Barney Frank. The score for the show will feature a pastiche of Broadway musicals such as Spring Awakening, Wicked, and Rent.  You can call it “Dispirit of the Radio.” …

Read "Rush’s" blog!  Mark Sutton will be writing about his experiences playing as the title character throughout the performance’s run.

From the aforementioned blog:

Being Rush Limbaugh

Thursday, January 7, 2010

Okay…so I’m about to become Rush Limbaugh. It’s a daunting task to say the least. Needless to say, I have not portrayed a character with this much of a loyal following since I had the lead in "Manson: The Musical"…

You get the point.

There won’t be any accusations of ‘rose-colored glasses,’ like with the German Obama musical.

From their beginning, Second City has pretended to be great iconoclasts of the establishment.

But of course all they have ever done if toe the establishment’s line as devoutly as any lickspittle slaveys could.
