5X More O-Care Cancellations Than Enrollments

From the Daily Caller:

It’s official: Obamacare debuts with more canceled plans than enrollments

By Sarah Hurtubise | January 1, 2014

Obamacare may have promised health insurance for the masses. But on its first day, it’s left more Americans without coverage than before the law was passed.

Which is exactly as we predicted back in October.

More than 4.7 million Americans had their health insurance canceled as a result of any of the thousand-plus-page law’s new rules, the Associated Press reports, but the Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) confirmed Tuesday that between federal and state exchanges, just 2 million Americans have signed up for Obamacare coverage…

And even that number is bogus, since the administration counts people who havejust selected a plan but actually not bought a policy. So the number of enrollees is probably closer to 1 million. (See article below.)

The overall effect on the first day is a net loss of several million Americans, who are now without health coverage.

Well, as Obama’s spiritual ancestor, Vladimir Lenin once observed: ‘You have to break some eggs to make an omelet.

Meanwhile, we have this from the Washington Examiner:

No, 2.1 million haven’t enrolled in Obamacare plans

By PHILIP KLEIN | DECEMBER 31, 2013

With President Obama’s health care law scheduled to begin in earnest when the new year kicks off, Secretary of Health and Human Services Kathleen Sebelius claimed on a Tuesday conference call that as of Dec. 28, "2.1 million people have enrolled in a private insurance plan" through the program.

Later in the call, Sebelius emphasized that enrollments wouldn’t be completed until individuals paid their first month’s premiums.

But HHS officials still won’t disclose how many of the 2.1 million they claim enrolled through the federal healthcare.gov website or one of the state-based exchanges actually paid for coverage…

Later in the call, CNN’s Jim Acosta asked Bataille if she could at least say with confidence that a "very high percentage" of those 2.1 million had paid…

The Wall Street Journal reported on Tuesday that: "As of Monday, however, only about half of enrollees billed for plans offered by more than 100 insurers in 17 states had paid their first month’s premium, said Mark Waterstraat, chief strategy officer at Benaissance, a third-party billing firm that works for those insurers." …

Meaning that only about 1 million people have actually bought health insurance via Obama-Care so far. Meanwhile, five times more people have lost their health insurance thanks to Obama-Care.

Also, lest we forget, 1 million is a long way from the 7 million that we were told would be needed to make Obama-Care economically viable.

  1. Wait a year and see what your insurance payment will be. This entire debacle is the inevitable climax of empowering others to cover your bills.
