84 Yr OWS Martyr Was At Seattle WTO Riots

From the Seattle Times:

Dorli Rainey, 84, talks with fellow demonstrators Caleb Walez, left, Shaine (no last name given) and Thomas Patton, all from Seattle, after police pepper-sprayed them Tuesday evening during an Occupy Seattle protest downtown that blocked rush-hour traffic.

84-year-old: subdued with pepper spray, overwhelmed by attention

It’s been a hectic two days for Dorli Rainey, the 84-year-old Seattle activist whose pepper-sprayed face suddenly made her one of the most sought-after interviews in America.

It’s been a hectic few days for Dorli Rainey, the 84-year-old Seattle activist whose pepper-sprayed face suddenly made her one of the most sought-after interviews in America.

"I haven’t gotten any sleep. I’ve gotten to the point where I’m getting confused," she said Thursday afternoon. "My computer’s up to 2,000 messages, and I can’t answer them all. The phone doesn’t stop ringing."

She certainly sounds overjoyed at all the attention. Which, after all, is what most of this is all about.

The burning sensation in her face has subsided, but she said, "My lungs still feel a little pressure, and I’ve got a strange cough."

Maybe with the right lawyer she can work this into a whopping lawsuit.

She appeared on the Keith Olbermann show Wednesday night and then Thursday morning on "Democracy Now!" She also spoke with Q-13 Fox News.

Thursday afternoon appearances were arranged by MSNBC and the Canadian Broadcasting Corp. The Atlantic published a story about how Rainey emigrated from Austria to the Northwest, taught school, served on the Issaquah School Board and ran for Metropolitan King County Council.

Rainey hung up on KIRO Radio’s Dori Monson, who asked her to elaborate on her wish for "regime change" and questioned why it was OK to keep one of his listeners from getting to a daughter’s piano recital as protesters blocked the street.

So much for her tolerance.

"I don’t want to be the ‘hero’ of this thing. I want to be able to be a person that speaks to the issues," Rainey said to the Times. "It’s easy for people to see the picture and say, ‘Cops stink.’ There’s a reason why we are where we are right now, and that needs to be discussed."

Which is why she hangs up on people when they question her.

Former Seattle Police Chief Norm Stamper [sic] was also a guest on "Democracy Now!" the progressive radio-TV show.

And by "progressive" they mean Stalinist/Communist.

Rainey thanked Stamper, tongue-in-cheek, for the cloud of pepper gas she breathed in the WTO protests of 1999, at Third and Pike. Stamper repeated his deep regrets about that.

"We took a military response to a situation that was fundamentally nonviolent," Stamper said

The Seattle WTO protests were "fundamentally non violent"? According to Canada’s CBC News, the WTO riots cost the city of Seattle $3 million dollars in cleanup costs and police overtime. The damage to downtown commercial businesses from vandalism and lost sales has been estimated to exceed $20 million dollars.

Still, it’s nice to see that Ms. Rainey has a hardcore revolutionary for years.

Rainey said she intends to rejoin Occupy protests in a few days and likely will find herself in the street.

What else does she have to do? What a hero she is!

On Tuesday night, she said, she was part of a group who stayed a few minutes after police told them to disperse. Protesters were talking aloud about leaving when police converged, holding their bicycles and spraying pepper, she said.

"You only get real attention when you block a few streets," she said.

So she knew what she was doing. Still, why wasn’t she arrested? You try blocking traffic – and for hours, not a few minutes – and see where it gets you.

Rainey worries that coordinated government crackdowns may wear down the Occupy movement.

"I don’t know how long we can stay outside the way we do now. I hope eventually we can form a group that is more coherent and powerful. I don’t want to take it underground."

What a dangerous and deluded old fool.

11/06/11, Gateway Pundit: “78-year-old Dolores Broderson is helped up after she was pushed down the stairs by Obama-endorsed Occupy DC protesters outside the Americans for Prosperity Dinner in Washington DC on Friday night.”

Anyone from the MBM care to remember this? Anyone? Bueller?

Ah, screw it. If the double-standard isn’t blaringly obvious at this point with the media’s shielding of all the other Occupy violence, you’re just a blind drone.

I am sick and tired of “activists” telling me that I am a bad person because I want to keep what I earn. I have achieved my level of success through hard work and diligent exercise of mental agility, not by pillaging from those less fortunate than I am. I am fortunate because I make it so from the moment I wake up in the morning to the time I fall asleep. I work long days to provide for myself and my family and I work hard at home to ensure that my child understands the things that make life successful and meaningful. I set forth a personal set of goals for myself and I have decided to put myself in charge of reaching them. I refuse to allow external circumstances to dictate my position in life and the level to which I can achieve. I live by a Christian ethical and moral code and I am proud of it. I endeavor to make the best possible decisions, bearing in mind the lives of those around me and the impacts/consequences of my decisions, knowing that the impact may be years or decades in the future. Along with my conservative brothers and sisters, we are the REAL 99%. We make our great nation great. We make our great nation function. We are tired of being told we are the problem.

These filthy, disease-spreading, malcontents can love it or leave it. There are plenty of “egalitarian” socialist states throughout the world. I suggest Cuba, North Korea, or Russia, where everybody is equally poor and miserable (except the political elite, of course). There are no “evil” corporations, no profits, no private banks, no student debt (no choice of occupation), no credit cards, no credit, no mortgages, no mansions (except for the political elite), no stock traders, and no chance of ever elevating one’s position in life. It should be utopia for these parasites.

A professional agitator got sprayed with some pepper spray, I say good. Maybe she’ll learn something from the experience. Maybe taunting the police and blocking public streets is a bad idea. If she wants to “start a dialogue,” take out an ad in the paper, rent some public access time on PBS, start calling congressmen, run for office, do something other than break the law. She ought to be ashamed and the “news” programs rewarding her bad actions with attention should be ashamed, too. She is a child acting out for attention and they are enabling it.

These people are basically parasites – whether they know it or not. They are the Flea Party, “Fleabaggers”.

The essential goal of “occupying” public or private property is theft. Marxism preaches theft, the destruction of personal property rights, and individuality; the heart of the Western Tradition. Without private property rights we are but cogs in the machinery of an all-powerful State.

Alright crew, give her the sympathy write ups and make sure the 5-0 looks like brutal old lady beaters. Too many people think that the cops have been showing incredible restraint.”

Funny, I didn’t hear anything about the oppressive police tactics and supression of free speech when the liberals, i.e. Biden, Pelosi, Reid, where saying there would dire consquences if budgets were cut and police and teachers were let go. Talk about useful idoits. Keep paying those police union dues morons.

I predict a urine sample would show concentrated amounts of both Tetrahydrocannabinol and prescription level mood altering pharmaceuticals.

Plus a medical history report would almost surely demonstrate at least two abortions and numerous STDs over the years.

    Just saying.
