And bless her, she has been around long enough to have seen a few bad administrations, so that's saying something! Let your mom know we are proud of her. I hope my own kids say such a great thing about me someday! :- )

I'm on medicare with Aetna "supplemental/medicare/advantage" coverage. No social security increase, but extra premium went up $41 for 2010. Of course the policy coverage changes and without a microscope and a computer I don't know if I will be ahead or behind but it seems like a benefit cut if I pay more.

AARP life-insurance savings. Senator Tom Coburn (R) OK who is a Medical Doctor was on FOX's Greta, following his speech on the floor that he stands behind the elderly will die sooner. He says there are 800 places the approx 2000 page bill showing that services and medical treatment will be reduced, and a different way to reduce costs. ( He is getting blasted for insisting the entire bill be read before the Senate, as the Democrats stay up at night changing the wording after something is settled.

I don't have a copy of AARP life-insurance policies in front of me. But, in reading another top life insurer policy, there was loose wording of depending on a living or 'partial' living will, with no explanation following.

Obama & Democrats health plan is going to increase the elderly dying as his grandmother died, staged in her home, by hospice (let's hope at least she got the 3 day hospice policy, no fluids, pain meds given through the shut down of organs by family).

Is it possible that by the elderly dying the method of hospice (other examples that can affect your life insurance, is if you have an accident and don't want to be put on life support, or no matter what you want to be hooked up to a machine as to partial or full living will)

that AARP's life-insurance policy payouts significantly reduced by choosing hospice death, will mean AARP will have many more reduced life-insurance payouts, or possibly they won't have to pay anything to an elderly person who goes the hospice route.

Not only is AARP a Medicare insurance company, the insurance they sell is Medi-gap insurance, the old-style insurance that seniors are abandoning for Medicare Advantage, a newer form that acts more like private insurance and covers more medical procedures.

In a totally unrelated coincidence, Medicare Advantage (the one AARP doesn't carry) is effectively driven out of the market by Obamy's Health Scare bill.

Like most of Obamy's supporters, AARP is very vey lucky to be on the right side of government action.

My mom, 77 years old, canceled her membership with AARP earlier this year. She is a die-hard staunch conservative who worked her whole life, spent her childhood in The Great Depression, through WWII and never took a handout from anyone. Tough as nails, proud and smart. Says this is the worst administration she's ever seen.
