Just curious...
When a person turns 50 years of age they automatically receive an application to join AARP. AARP claims to be a "nonprofit, nonpartisan membership organization". How is AARP obtaining our private information, i.e., name, address, gender, age, etc.? Sounds like a political money machine for whom...does anyone know any details? If so, we all need to know now!

I never joined AARP because of their pro gun control stance. I live in the South and we grow up teething on guns for sporting purposes; and we believe in the right to protect oneself if need be.

I have never trusted them because they involve themselves in political issues unrelated to senior's benefit.

Perhaps AARP is detroying itself with its health reform position. But, Chairman Barak will take care of them like he does his other supporters. I wonder what all these blind followers will do once the Marxists lose power.

AARP is a predatory insurance company, and although I usually defend Business, they are one deserving of the guillotine.

It preys on senior citizens. A better word might be "cheat".

The cuddly, we're-just-looking-out-for-your-interests sham is the wavy fingers they use to trick their marks.

See my prior post in this thread. It says how despicable that company is.

In a nutshell, they got the Chicago Mob to axe the best program in Medicare so they can sell their own crap. Thousands of seniors will die every year because of it if they get their way.

From the NU Online News Service, Nov. 5, 10:39 a.m
Bailout fund recipient The Hartford Financial Services Group reported it had reduced its net loss in the third quarter………Written premiums in the company’s agency business rose ...... with AARP written premiums up 2 percent over the prior period

Then we have this from the Huffington post date unknown but with in the last year;
Senate Finance Committee drafting health care legislation, members, including Chairman Max Baucus have received campaign contributions from the health care industry.
Baucus a leading recipient with nearly $1.5 million from 2007 and 2008.

Now when the left says the Republicans are against it because there getting money from the insurance industry I wonder about that in a big way!
Also knowing that AARP threw there Parent company have taken Bail out TARP funds it is no wonder they are backing this healthcare plan. I bet they were not given a choice Chicago style. Just my personal opinion. It dose make a thinking person wonder what is going on.

I did belong to AARP that is tell today. Now on there own sight it is over whelming against them with the majority saying they are also leaving AARP over this endorsement! AARP it seams is going against the majority of there membership. It is just like this health care bill they did what they wanted with out asking any of us and now they will reap the just rewards of it be it at the ballot box or in lost membership!

I know what I would do if I belonged to AARP. Now what you do is your call but you can join a lot of folks like me and we will welcome you to do just that!

The sad thing is, my Dad vehemently disagrees with everything they do, yet refuses to "quit" because he likes the discounts.

I suspect there are many, many older Americans who feel the same. :(

gee, who saw that one coming?

Only about 70% of seniors are opposed to ObamaScare, but AARP must be using its wisdom to see long-term.

Certainly, killing the Medicare Aadvantage program hasn't influenced a public service business like AARP.

It's true that AARP does not offer Medicare Aadvantage. Fortunately, for charitable AARP, the inferior product they do offer is much more profitable, and a cash cow, even though the Aadvantage program is wildly more popular. But I know it can't be an influence, because AARP would never do anything that steals money from it's valued customers. And it would never be corrupt enough to enact death sentences on thousands of seniors my making obscene profits with politically favored inferior services.

It would be beyond cynicism to even hint at something like that.

AARP can't be trusted. They said this in the beginning, and denied it when people dropped them. They are too expensive. Will they get a bail-out?

I refuse to join AARP for this very reason. Doesn't matter about all of the "great" travel deals or other discounts the "organization" offers. Its stance on health care "reform" is plenty enough to turn me off ...
