An update from Fox News:

Arrest Made in Home Foreclosure Civil Disobedience Program

Monday, February 23, 2009
By Joshua Rhett Miller

Police in Baltimore today made what is believed to be the first arrest in a civil disobedience program aimed at supporting homeowners who refuse to vacate their foreclosed homes.

An activist with ACORN — the Association of Community Organization for Reform Now — faces criminal charges after breaking into a home in southeast Baltimore on Thursday to protest the foreclosure crisis sweeping the country.

"This is our house now," ACORN member Louis Beverly reportedly said after cutting a lock with bolt cutters at the home.

Beverly will be charged with fourth-degree burglary, according to Anthony Guglielmi, a spokesman for the Baltimore Police. Attempts to reach his attorney, Justin Brown, were not immediately successful.

Donna Hanks, who owned the home since 2001, lost it in September when she couldn't make her $1,995 mortgage payments. It was not immediately clear whether Hanks re-entered her home last week, but she was not expected to be arrested, Guglielmi said.

Other police departments contacted by FOXNews.com said arrests would be made if an individual is determined to be residing at a foreclosed home illegally.

"If they're trespassing and it's not their property, absolutely, there'd by an arrest," a police source in Boston said. "If they were told to leave the property and they didn't, they'd be charged with disorderly conduct." ...

http://tinyurl.com/bkadhl

Maybe we are cynical. But we suspect this is just being done because of all of the current attention.

Once the heat is off, the authorities will continue to turn a blind eye.

Good point Bill. How many other agencies are going to be held hostage by steal-from-us money? And at some point is there going to be full blown anarchy due to The One's inability to control the monsters he's helped create?

Why would the Police go after these people?

Not when that might possibly endanger their funding coming from "stimulus" packages.

Well this should reassure us that Obama will resolve the mortgage crises. How are the people holding these bad assets going to deal with them when Obama’s street thugs are stealing the property? The stimulus money is supposed to help bailout those who have fallen behind on their mortgages but this woman doesn’t own the mortgage any longer. So we’re subsidizing those that couldn’t afford their houses (not allowing the real estate market to adjust itself) and Obama’s street thugs are stealing property that someone else holds the debt on.

But IMO, it wasn’t meant to work. It was meant to cripple our economy and spread the disease of Marxism. I live in Baltimore and know this woman’s kind a thousand times over. There’s a host of government programs that will support her throughout her life and she needn’t make any effort to improve herself. It’s when you want to make an honest living that the government starts putting demands on you. Is there any doubt that this is a recipe for failure?

BTW, where are the police and will anyone bring charges against ACORN? Scary point SG.

they allready did this in 6 other states? Probably they all didn't have the Make My Day Law. When the previous owner smiled and said it's been totally stripped, they should take fingerprints and show it was her. It's been in the news that people are stripping their homes before leaving, to include taking airconditioners, ruining pipes. She could have gone on a badly needed diet, part time job, rented to someone else who's lost their home, until Acorn helped them remortgage. But, I've noticed some decide they can't pay the mortgage and don't mind losing their homes, but stay as long as they can, or done something to get the extra cash until she could get a new mortgage. And Acorn Bevery called it "our home".
Neighbors were probably to afraid to call police?

Oh for the days of Janet Reno.....when federal troops with CS tanks and a whole host of swat teams would descend on the "compound" and render it a pile of smoldering ash.

Guess we won't be seeing any of that any time soon, huh?

I guess ACORN is just preparing for the nationalization of the banking industry, whereas, they will consider all foreclosed homes to be in the federal housing program.

It makes me sick what these POS are doing to this country.

I may be rushing to judgement here, but isn't this one of those "The whole country's watching" moments? Where's law enforcement? Isn't being incarcerated for your beliefs a big part of "civil disobedience"? This isn't even Illinois!

When you sign the papers for your house or even an apartment it clearly states the terms of late payments and the consequences related for failure to pay. This is insane. Obama and Brownshirts are clearly breaking the law but don't really care. Now all that remains is to see just how far this will go. Will Obama one day think that his Brownshirts aren't tough enough and form his own ShutzStaffel (SS Protection Staff). And then have his own version of the Night of Long Knives to liquidate the Brownshirts after they've served their purpose? Our tax/extorted dollars hard at work for you.

Nice to know our tax dollars are financing these kind of behaviors.

I really do think liberalism is a mental disorder, the house does not belong to ACORN or the former occupant - it belongs to the bank now.

wardmama...sounds like the same rules the illegals follow too, with the same result. No, the only people subject to laws and arrest will be people like us. The rest will be free to do as they please, because they worship the messiah. It is fast becoming time to act in the defense of this nation.

This is illegal and these ACORN people should be arrested and in jail. It is the start of anarchy if they are not arrested and put in jail - as it is government acceptance/tolerance of crime to justify a government program. Take a look just about all of these definitions apply:
* “No rulership or enforced authority.”
* “Absence of government; a state of lawlessness due to the absence or inefficiency of the supreme power; political disorder.”
* “A social state in which there is no governing person or group of persons, but each individual has absolute liberty (without the implication of disorder).”
* “Absence or non-recognition of authority and order in any given sphere.”
* A society free from coercive authority of any kind is the goal of proponents of the political philosophy of anarchism (anarchists).
* Independent from rule or authority.
