Afghans Protest A ‘Koran-Burning Protest’

From an equally outraged Associated Press:

Afghans protest US church’s plans to burn Quran

September 6, 2010

KABUL, Afghanistan — Hundreds of Afghans railed against the United States and called for President Barack Obama’s death at a rally in the capital Monday to denounce an American church’s plans to burn the Islamic holy book on Sept. 11.

The crowd in Kabul, numbering as many as 500, chanted "Long live Islam" and "Death to America" as they listened to fiery speeches from members of parliament, provincial council deputies, and Islamic clerics who criticized the U.S. and demanded the withdrawal of foreign troops from the country…

"We know this is not just the decision of a church. It is the decision of the president and the entire United States," said Abdul Shakoor, an 18-year-old high school student who said he joined the protest after hearing neighborhood gossip about the Quran burning.

The U.S. Embassy in Kabul issued a statement condemning Dove World Outreach Center’s plans, saying Washington was "deeply concerned about deliberate attempts to offend members of religious or ethnic groups." …

Mind you, this is the same US State Department that is currently sponsoring Mr. Rauf’s tour of the Middle East, where he is undoubtedly raising money for his ‘Ground Zero Mosque.’

Meanwhile, this demonstration is yet another feather in the cap of the New York Times and the rest of our tireless media.

Since these pious Muslims would probably have never heard about this crackpot pastor and his crackpot church without their tireless reporting.

Thousands of Indonesian Muslims protest US church’s plan to burn Koran on 9/11

    Published September 04, 2010

JAKARTA, Indonesia – JAKARTA, Indonesia (AP) — Thousands of Indonesian Muslims rallied outside the U.S. Embassy in Jakarta on Saturday to denounce an American church’s plan to mark the anniversary of the 9/11 terrorist attacks by burning copies of the Koran.

The Dove World Outreach Center in Gainesville, Florida, said it will burn the Islamic holy book Wednesday, the ninth anniversary of the terror attacks. Local officials have denied a permit for the bonfire on the church’s grounds, but the center — which made headlines last year by distributing T-shirts that said “Islam is of the Devil” — insists it will go ahead with the plan.

About 3,000 members of a hard-line Islamic group marched to the U.S. Embassy in downtown Jakarta waving banners and posters condemning the plan. The group organized similar rallies in five other cities across Indonesia, the world’ largest Muslim nation.

Religious leaders in Indonesia have condemned the plan and called on the U.S. government to use its influence to get the fire canceled.

Truly, they will need the U.S. government’s “influence” because at least 70% of the citizenry are for the freedom of expression. Mr Holder, are you listening? Time to sue that church in Florida.

Frankly, I enjoy the in-your-face approach to muslims. All we ever hear is them whining when there is an alleged unfairness. But they are not about anything fair. They are about them and their way of thinking. Their own intolerance has led to ours. Sure, we’re intolerant. Intolerant of a so-called “religion” that uses draconian methods and middle-age mentalities to get what it wants. The 21st century got here without any of their help.

Yes, they are quick to use our own system against us, and disregard or forget that we also have choices and freedoms to do what we want.

As it is with all viruses, it uses the host’s system to trick it into not defending itself.

I saw an article on Fox News.

Gen. Petraeus Warns against Church’s Koran-Burning

“Florida church’s plan to burn Korans on Sept. 11 isn’t doing the troops in Afghanistan any favors, Gen. David Petraeus said Monday.”

“Petraeus said he’s concerned that the protests could spread across the country.”

“It could endanger troops and it could endanger the overall effort in Afghanistan. It is precisely the kind of action the Taliban uses and could cause significant problems. Not just here, but everywhere in the world we are engaged with the Islamic community,” Petraeus said in a statement provided to Fox News.”

The way I see it is everything will inflame, bother, vex, annoy, irritate and otherwise piss off Muslims. So you may as well aim at the Dome of the Rock with the nice golden bull’s eye as well as that idiotic black cube and bomb them into oblivion…

…but then again what do I know? I’m just another blogger in cyberspace and not a general…

However I still maintain the koran has one purpose – bathroom tissue.

      Tell me hush,

What, exactly doesn’t enrage a muslim?

I would say that they are spring-loaded to jihad. Their system is so intentionally confining that the only place they can squirt out is through violence directed at…well…pretty much anything. Just as the mullahs intend. They are so manipulated that they cannot see reason.

When they walk all over the US flag, burn it, desecrate it, do Americans start gathering in the streets and scream at the top of their lungs? When they rip up a bible and urinate on it, do Christians call all 15 to 45 year old men to war? Or do they shake their heads in a solemn expression of contempt?

No, I think it’s time the muslims actually face something to really be angry about. Themselves. Their oppressive system. They are about 500 years behind us in most things, in spite of the boy telling us how adept they are at science. Women’s rights, slavery, human rights, etc. Nope, they don’t hold a candle to the efforts the West has made, let alone the United States in acknowledging our flaws and working to correct them through sensible debate and sometimes painful change.

islam has a long way to go but I doubt they will ever make it. It took Christian-based societies many hundreds of years to get to where we are now. By islam’s standards, they would’ve beheaded Newton and I take a certain pleasure in the fact that iran now embraces nuclear power…a concept that would not have come to the fore where it not for the work of Einstein and many other powerful Jewish minds. That, is just the cherry on top. They need the thing that was discovered and worked out by Jews! I want to hear Ach-I-need-a-job ‘splain that one. E=MC squared. A Jew thought that up. Yup. He did. The very basis for nuclear power.

Oh let me hear it muslims….give it to me straight.

The left has spent the decade since 9/11 extolling the virtues of the religion of peace while castigating evil American hate mongers and Islamophobes for DARING to tell the truth about this sub-human practice of barbarism. The reason–leftists have FAR more in common with those who strap bombs on 8 year olds, than with actual Americans.

Would that be the same president who pretty much endorses a moosque to be built near ground zero?
And—Yes, clearly the people of the US are doing as we are told. Isn’t that how allcountries run?

This kid really has his radio finely tuned to reality, doesn’t he?

  4. Mithrandir says:

For gosh sakes! Don’t let a crisis go to waste! Link the burning to a negotiation. For instance, close down the Victory Mosque in New York, OR we will burn the Koran. THEN you put choice in their hands, and they are responsible for the outcome. Don’t just burn it willy-nilly, –heck, you could probably clear out all the Palestinians, and free Lebanon with this tactic.

–Never let a crisis go to waste.

  5. Mae says:

Though, of course, burning books is a really stupid idea, but remind me again how a 50-member church got world-wide publicity for planning to burn the Moslem screed!! Why, as Steve points out, it’s all those loving, caring, media members who don’t want to inflame anyone so they publish stuff which will inflame the mindless. What happens if a house burns down with a Koran in it? Do they blame the U. S. government? Do they cut the heads off the owners…or is that just reserved for infidels and Moslem women?

    • proreason says:

Don’t forget the thousands of stories about Koran destruction at Gitmo.

And of course the classic case of the Civil Rights heroes marching with Speaker Pelosi and her cartoon gavel through the crowd of Teabaggers on the Mall. Rember all of those racist remarks?

It’s one thing to be partisan, but quite another to shamelessly make stuff up and blow other stuff thousands of times out of proportion.

If it wasn’t for the community agitators organizers, I would say that the msm is the most contemptable of all of the enemies of this country.

  6. tranquil.night says:

While I don’t agree with this specific statement at this specific time, what about everyone draw Mohammed day? Wasn’t that also a spite to Islamic beliefs and potentially dangerous to everyone? Doesn’t free speech include the right to disagree with another’s public beliefs through the public expression of one’s own?

Oh, oh, I see the narrative the LSM wants us to acknowledge. This is the morally relative reverse of the GZM situation. The Muslims just wanted a worship center and what do those hateful Christian wingnuts do – they go and burn the Quran. No compassion or tolerance whatsoever.

Pfft, I sense another attempt at legally crowding the 1st Ammendment. Mae your suspicions I think are dead on.

“We know this is not just the decision of a church. It is the decision of the president…”

It’s uncomfortable agreeing at least in theory with someone effectively living in the 9th century, but the international media is ALL OVER this which for me adds to the stench that it has been made to order somehow.

And look who he marched out to force the issue: the one man in the regime using the one argument (protect/support the troops) that the wingnuts might take a moment to consider when he’s telling them to shut up – General Petraeus.

So before we analyze how we’re endangering ourselves by having the world media focus on a small group of frustrated folks, will someone tell me how many civilian and troops’ lives are endangered because we have no coherent Foreign or Domestic Security Policy?

How many civilian, border patrol, and migrants lives are lost here and in Mexico because our Immigration Laws are broken?
