African MPs Cheer The Lockerbie Bomber

From BBC News:

Africa MPs cheer Lockerbie bomber

September 9, 2009

Lockerbie bomber Abdelbaset Ali al-Megrahi has made his first public appearance since receiving a hero’s welcome on his return to Libya.

Megrahi, looking frail in a wheelchair, received a standing ovation from a group of African MPs in the hospital where he is receiving care for cancer.

But after five minutes he began to cough and signalled he wanted to leave

The BBC’s Rana Jawad, in Tripoli, says a nurse wheeled Megrahi to a small stage in the lecture hall at the city’s medical centre.

He appeared to be frail, wearing a surgeon’s mask that covered most of his face and a colourful, sequined traditional skullcap, she says.

He remained silent in his wheelchair as he was greeted by about 40 African MPs who are in the country to mark the 10th anniversary of the establishment of the African Union.

After he started coughing, he was immediately wheeled off the stage.

Our reporter says it seemed a carefully orchestrated event intended to send a signal to the Scottish, British and US governments.

Speaker of the African Union (AU) parliament Idriss Ndele Moussa, who is from Chad, said he and his colleagues had come to "express solidarity".

"He is the victim of international injustice and a policy of double standards," Mr Moussa said

Hey, let’s send a few more hundred billion taxpayer dollars to Africa.

Wouldn’t it be interesting to see the reception Mr. Megrahi would receive at a Koz convention.

Please note how the Associated Press reported this same event:

Lockerbie bomber weak, pale in public appearance

By Khaled El-deeb, Associated Press Writer

TRIPOLI, Libya – The ailing Lockerbie bomber looked weak and pale, sitting in a wheelchair, as he was visited by a group of African parliamentarians Wednesday in a rare appearance in the hospital where he is being treated for prostate cancer.

Abdel Baset al-Megrahi appeared for only five minutes and did not speak during the visit in the Tripoli Medical Center. Dressed in hospital scrubs, he wore a surgical mask over his mouth and nose and a traditional embroidered cap…

He was brought out Wednesday for a visit by 150 members of the South Africa-based Pan African Parliament, the largely symbolic body of the African Union. Some delivered speeches congratulating al-Megrahi on his release. Libyan leader Moammar Gadhafi later held a separate meeting with the parliamentarians.

“I can’t prove that he (al-Megrahi) is guilty or innocent, but I sympathize with his health condition,” said Idriss Ndele Moussa, chairperson of the Pan African Parliament…

Funny how the IV-drip, the wheelchair, the hospital scrubs and mask….are ALL things signatory of WESTERN medicine.

    How odd.

“He is the victim of international injustice and a policy of double standards,” Mr Moussa said…”

Actually it’s the opposite. If true justice and equal standards had been in place this mass murderer and terrorist would have been hung from the gallows long ago. The double standard is to allow him to live while his 200 + victims remain dead. But I guess most of the victims were white American Christians, so who cares?

Instead the terrorist is given an ovation by other anti-western thugs wrapped in a pretty international bow of preening anti-US propaganda. Wonder if any of them would even stand for a moment of silence for his victims.

Some days I wish these barbarians and their cohorts had no access to the technology created by the Western world and modern civilization; their excuses for violence and corruption keep their societies impoverished and continually loathing “the West.”

What a speedy turn for the worse. Maybe it’s props, and maybe a fake funeral, so he can go back underground and make more bombs.
