More lies from Mr. A-Whack-Mini-Job. I long for the day when some 850 lb. gorilla of a man smacks him so far down on the head that the sumb*tch is talking through his zipper.

But how is it a true republic if they disqualify most candidates from running and virtually all political power rests in the hands of unelected mullahs whose authority is never put to a vote? The elections are just a front - a mock republic, I'd say. I should remind you that China has so-called debates and elections of their preselected communist party representatives...so does North Korea. Even Saddam Hussein gloated at receiving 98% of the votes in a mock election. It gives the people a way to bear their tyranny under the perception that they can alter their government. Are / were any of these places that allow citizens to freely choose their representatives republics? I would say no. And not in Iran either, where the mullahs have unmitigated power no matter regardless of who takes the president's seat.

I beg to differ - it is a republic. It's just not a secular republic.

No matter who becomes president there will be no change in Iran pushing for nukes or threatening Israel. Mr. A just put all of that insanity out in the open, but the mullahs have no problem with it.

A day after Obama's Cairo speech the Ayatollah Khomeini said "Muslims hate America." So there you go. Nothing will be enough to placate the madmen, because the election doesn't actually switch power away from the mullahs who run the show. In fact, the crazy Mr. A might even be less conservative than Khomeini. A couple years back the president tried to let women attend sports games but the Ayatollah prohibited it.

So regardless of who wins, the only thing that changes is the name on paper.

Also note that Obama always refers to the country as "The Islamic republic of Iran," even though it is not a true republic and disqualifies candidates suspected of being too "reformist."

The election is staged, potatoes buy votes, and both candidates are chosen by the "fascist <b>conservative</b>" mullah illuminati. It's all smoke, all distractions and delaying pressure on their nuclear activity long enough. How long enough? I don't know, I think today is a good guess personally. "We are glad to see a robust debate going on in Iran." O'blah-blah. <i>facetodesk</i> It's probably going to take violent revolution, sadly and in my opinion, it's too oppressive and corrupt for democratic channels to achieve success. That goes for most of the Middle East, but people there don't seem to want it enough. Most would just rather hate us, so what do we do? Hrm? <b>How about supporting real democracies like Israel and Iraq O'blah-blah?</b>

When I was finishing my political science degree in the early 90's, the folks in the Foreign Relations intelligentsia of our country had named the Islamic terrorist movement (already decades old at that point), "the green peril".

Green is used in (most) all of the Arab/Islamic countries' flags.

We are all told how much US [diplomatic] agression towards Iran is misplaced by the typical Left. "Give their young people time to overthrow the government in Iran, we shouldn't be nation-building", they say. That's right after they give George Clooney the Humanitarian Award for urging a military solution to Darfur, of course.

If the people of Iran are truly able to overthrow their ruling clerics and Ayatollah, now is the time to do it.
