I should remind you that China has so-called debates and elections of their preselected communist party representatives...so does North Korea. Even Saddam Hussein gloated at receiving 98% of the votes in a mock election. It gives the people a way to bear their tyranny under the perception that they can alter their government. Are / were any of these places that allow citizens to freely choose their representatives republics? I would say no. And not in Iran either, where the mullahs have unmitigated power no matter regardless of who takes the president's seat. Green is used in (most) all of the Arab/Islamic countries' flags. We are all told how much US [diplomatic] agression towards Iran is misplaced by the typical Left. "Give their young people time to overthrow the government in Iran, we shouldn't be nation-building", they say. That's right after they give George Clooney the Humanitarian Award for urging a military solution to Darfur, of course. If the people of Iran are truly able to overthrow their ruling clerics and Ayatollah, now is the time to do it.
