If the average Joe threw two shoes at a person with the force this jack off did, the legal repercussions would be significant – this would be aggravated assault at the very least (not that I know for sure but I looked it up). But I don’t believe Al Jazeera. I also don’t know all of Iraq’a laws – One thing I do know, it wasn’t a very smart move by the Iraqi as* journalist. Common sense should have prevailed.

By the way, there have been many cases in the US where shoes have been considered deadly weapons — and they did not involve the President.

The ‘Jena Six’ case, being one of them, IIRC.

You know Brad I have to agree that there are waaaaaaay too many laws in this country. Like if I want to build a screen porch for someone (which is what I used to do) and I don’t have all the proper State papers I can be convicted of a felony (I’m in Florida by the way) The problem is that I don’t think that you would agree with the same laws I think are ridiculous. If you want to make a statement stand up and holler but keep your shoes on. I just hope the O doesn’t get to implement his vision for America because then I think you would really see something akin to Hitler’s Germany.

I don’t look at things in terms of whether I despise the person or not, I look at in terms of the rights of the citizens, even dumb ones throwing shoes. I am tired of the police state overkilling and overcharging our citizens based on who they hurt or who they offend. The law is supposed to be enforced equally. You punch a jerk playing pool at some dive, nothing happens. They bartender says, “Hey, take it outside!” What if it was an off-duty cop? Or a judge? Or some scummy lawyer, or crazy activist, or (gulp!) a black guy! Law equally applied? —Ah no….

Get out of your mind traps. I like this site, it is conservative, but some of you are just as blind and dogmatic as the liberals.

Have you ANY idea how many laws there are in this country? International, Federal, State, Local. It is not possible to be in compliance with the law at all time. I get drunk, emotional, maybe even drive home over the limit, I don’t know. Is it 2 beers that put me over the limit or 3? I have work tomorrow, I feel fine, I will risk it. Some jerk throws his drink on me, I punch him out—OPPS, he was a state judge—there goes 6 years of my life.

I go to get my stolen stuff back, OPPS, some dumb*ss friend brings a gun, sh*t, there goes 10 years of my life in prison. I call the police, and if they ever get out of their hammocks, they may have assisted me.

Our fantastic police state gives us great options: 1. Scour the books and charge you with 100 crimes. 2. Plead guilty and they will lower it to 3 for ya!
That used to be called blackmail, but not when the police state does it. And you get the great bonus of paying a probation officer and court fees in excess of $1000s of overkill dollars.

There are all kinds of scenarios in which our police state/lawyer state/ nanny state can come crashing down on our heads.

It is not our government anymore, it is the government’s government, we are just the slaves paying taxes to it. Conservatives are to blame as much as liberals for our slavery to they lawyer system.

Think about—- oh never mind. . .

Get out of your emotional mind-trap. It doesn’t matter how little sympathy you have for the person that gets over-kill by the law. The statement was simply to make you all think: “If they can do it to them, they can do it to you.” Not many Germans cared if the jews were killed, until Hitler went after: the old, mentally ill, terminally ill, socialists, communists, capitalists, Catholics, the S.A., smokers, and everyone else that didn’t agree with him.

Whatever is done to the least popular and vilified among us, is what is waiting for you someday as well. Punishment is fine, overkill is not fine–it is a police state tactic.
