Americans 12X More Interested In Miley Than Syria

From New York Magazine:

Final Tally: Americans Were 12 Times More Interested in Miley Cyrus Than Syria

By Maureen O’Connor | September 9, 2013

That Miley Cyrus captures more attention than escalating war in Syria is, by now, conventional wisdom. But an exhaustive survey of news sources now reveals exactly how much attention Miley steals: Americans viewed twelve times as many pages about Miley Cyrus as they did about Syria — even though the news sources published 2.4 Syria articles for every one about Miley.

Thank goodness, the Miley Cyrus versus the merely Syria statistics are finally in. Still, we find them a little hard to believe. Certainly, you’d never know that there were 2.4 Syria articles published for every one about Miley if you just watched CNN during that period.

Outbrain supplies "related links" modules to a network of 100,000 publishers, including major news sources like CNN, Fox News, and ESPN. On any given day, 87 percent of Americans who browse the web will view a page with an Outbrain module, explains the company’s vice-president of global marketing. They collect traffic data from every site in their network, which they use in a variety of algorithms to generate recommendations.

In the three days surrounding Miley’s VMA performance and the Obama administration signaling its willingness to bomb Syria, Outbrain’s network generated 8,104 stories about the former and 19,568 about the latter. The day after the VMAs, Miley Cyrus stories accounted for 12 percent of total U.S. page views, while Syria stories accounted for 1 percent.

Interest in the starlet significantly outpaced Syria in England, Australia, France, Germany, and every other nation in Outbrain’s analysis — except Israel and Russia. Globally, Miley Cyrus stories generated eight times as many page views as Syria did in the days surrounding the VMAs…

Well, ‘twerking’ is a universal language.

But this is what we are up against. And it’s pretty hard to promote the fundamental principles of conservatism via ‘twerking.’ But, if we are to believe the party strategists, the GOP had better learn to ‘twerk’ and like it.

  1. Well, a train wreck will always get more clicks than a slow moving train wreck.

I’m convinced, LIKE OCCUPY WALL STREET, that events happen because democrats ask, convince, reward, people who make distractions. Obama needed the public to look the other way, here comes GaGa, or Miley to put on a show.

Obamacare? Jobless rates? IRS scandals? “Well, look over here at Syria, what are they up to?” –Syria is an embarrassing disaster, “Ladies and Gentlemen, my I direct your attention to this sick woman shaking her arse and making a fool of herself!”

When you saw the war protesters during the Bush administration pop up, march around screaming and yelling, and all of a sudden they disappear when Obama continues the wars, you gotta know these are political SHOCK TROOPS sent in by the democrats.

All those SHOCK TROOPS that show up for a union protest, but are never around when a democrat governor cuts their funding? Democrat puppeteering going on.

FLASH MOB of ‘Occupy Wall-Street’ protests? Democrat SHOCK TROOPS. The financial crisis was CAUSED by democrats, started by Bill Clinton, the occupy mob was needed to keep the focus on someone other than democrats, so the public doesn’t know any better.

Hand it to the dems, they are just better at politics than Republicans are. Admit it.

    • I’ll be the first to admit you’re right. Their willingness to openly lie and the media willing to cover for them make them an almost phenomenally indestructible opponent.

I believe, and the facts speak for themselves, because of the lowering of many of our standards and morals, and the influence of the ever more despicable culture in the US over the last 50 years, the progressive wing of both parties that best represent that immorality has grown in influence and power. Hence, we have the demoncraps and establishment GOP and RINO’s. All immoral, unethical and in it for themselves.
