‘Anti-Muslim’ Film Maker Jailed, Denied Bond

From a cheering Associated Press:

Calif. man behind anti-Muslim film ordered jailed

By GREG RISLING | Fri September 28, 2012

LOS ANGELES (AP) — The surrounding mystery of the man behind the crudely produced anti-Islamic video that sparked violence in the Middle East took a strange turn after he appeared in court and gave yet another name in a string of aliases.

Notice that its his use of aliases that is the lead sentence. Not that he was arrested on what is practically a technicality.

Arrested on Thursday after authorities said he violated his probation from a 2010 check fraud conviction, Nakoula Basseley Nakoula told a judge his real name was Mark Basseley Youseff. He said he’d been using that name since 2002, even though he went by Nakoula in his fraud case.

And yet the AP said that they and the federal authorities had confirmed him to be Nakoula Nakoula.

The full story about Nakoula and the video "Innocence of Muslims" still isn’t known more than two weeks after violence erupted in Egypt and Libya, where Ambassador Christopher Stevens and three others were killed in Benghazi. Violence related to the film has since spread, killing dozens more.

Well, we do know that the film had absolutely nothing to do with the attack on the consulate in Benghazi. But the AP just can’t let go of that lie.

Citing a lengthy pattern of deception and the potential to flee, U.S. Central District Chief Magistrate Judge Suzanne Segal ordered Nakoula to remain in prison without bond until another judge can hold a hearing to determine if he broke the terms of his probation.

"The court has a lack of trust in this defendant at this time," Segal said.

And never mind that he has not be determined to have broken his probation or any other laws. And never mind everyone but the most dangerous criminals has the right to bail.

Prosecutors noted Nakoula had eight probation violations, including lying to his probation officers and using aliases. He could face new charges that carry a maximum two-year prison term.

After his 2010 conviction, Nakoula was sentenced to 21 months in prison and was barred from using computers or the Internet for five years without approval from his probation officer, though prosecutors said none of the violations involved the Internet.

Which is a little weird.

He also wasn’t supposed to use any name other than his true legal name without the prior written approval of his probation officer…

Burn him!

Nakoula’s attorney Steven Seiden sought to have the hearing closed and his client released on $10,000 bail. He argued Nakoula has checked in with his probation officer frequently and made no attempts to leave Southern California.

Seiden was concerned that Nakoula would be in danger in federal prison because of Muslim inmates, but prosecutors said he likely would be placed in protective custody.

But maybe not.

Lawrence Rosenthal, a constitutional and criminal law professor at Chapman University School of Law in Orange, said it was "highly unusual" for a judge to order immediate detention on a probation violation for a nonviolent crime, but if there were questions about Nakoula’s identity it was more likely…

It’s highly unusual. Period.

Enraged Muslims have demanded punishment for Nakoula, and a Pakistani cabinet minister has offered a $100,000 bounty to anyone who kills him.

And even the President of our erstwhile ally Egypt has demanded that Nakoula be arrested. And so he has been arrested.

By the way, where is the ACLU? — We are joking, of course. The ACLU does not believe Christians have rights.

So much for freedom of speech.

So much for freedom of religion.

So much for freedom, full stop.

I don’t recognize this America anymore.

By the way: I might change my name, and think about running away, too, if I were being hunted by Islamic jihadis seeking to collect the $100,000 bounty that Pakistan had placed on my head.

The appeasement of islamofascists by this administration continues.

If his names were Barry Barack Hussein Soetoro Soebarkah Obama and he were running for office as a democrat, everybody would pretend it wasn’t an issue to use a few different names…or passports….or lie…

  4. This is political theater done to placate the islamo-barbarians, and the ones in Egypt are reciprocating in this farce with the arrest of a Bible burning cleric.

In a related matter: I don’t anyone arrested, but when will Mr. ‘smart power’ Obama condemn the paid-for-with- tax-dollars ‘Piss Christ,’ now on display again in NY??.

  5. Gil says:

How long would tax-dollars remain available for “Piss Christ” if Romney were in the Whitehouse?
Looking for that change in values which respect religious rights and freedoms.. aren’t you?
    Just sayin’

Mr. Bill, you nailed it. Unbelievable no back-ground checks on a president with so many aliases.

    Flee? He wasn’t going anywhere.

I did not write the following but the liberal snopes confirms it.

Who in America, or their right mind, would vote for Obama after they read this?
Obama must really want to be a one term president! The soldiers who wake up inWalter Reed Medical Center are in Maryland, not communist China. But,under the Navy’s new rules, they may not know the difference!
After months of peeling away the military’s core values, Obama’s army is on the move. And this time, it has a high-value target: the Bible.
In a memo obtained by FRC, Navy officials have announced that “no religious items (including Bibles, reading material, and/or artifacts) are allowed to be given away or used during a visit.” The new orders are buried in a four-page document about patient care, which an Army officer forwarded to us in disbelief!
Effective immediately, families, friends, and even pastors will have to check their beliefs at the door to visit one of the largest military hospitals in the United States Last night, after we circulated the memo to leaders on the Hill, an outraged Rep. Steve King (R-Iowa) took to the House floor and blasted the policy!
“Mr. Speaker, these military men and women who are recovering at Walter Reed and Bethesda have given their all for America! They’ve defended and taken an oath to the Constitution, and here they are. The people who come to visit them can’t bring a religious artifact? They can’t bring a Bible? … A priest can’t walk in with the Eucharist and offer communion to a patient who might be on their deathbed because it’s prohibited in this memo from the Department of the Navy?”
This is Obama’s military, where homosexuality is celebrated and Christianity is censored; where witches are financed and crosses are scorned; where bestiality is embracedand Bibles are banned; where same-sex “weddings” are encouraged but international charity is not! After three years of ideological warfare, the Obama administration’s intent is clear: to disarm the military of its biggest weapon…..FAITH!
Regardless of Obama’s agenda, there is absolutely nothing in the Constitution that empowers the government to stop family members from giving Bibles or crosses to their loved ones! And from a PR standpoint, I’m not sure the best way to boost approval ratings is by denying comfort to wounded warriors! Unfortunately for our troops, who have endured so much turmoil under the Obama administration, this is another blow!
Hopefully, with the help of Congressman King and others, it’s only a temporary one.
Even liberal Snopes says it’s true: http://www.snopes.com/politics/religion/walterreed.asp

Reuters: Muslim protesters torch Buddhist temples, homes in Bangladesh

    Sept 30 2012

COX’S BAZAR, Bangladesh (Reuters) – Hundreds of Muslims in Bangladesh burned at least four Buddhist temples and 15 homes of Buddhists on Sunday after complaining that a Buddhist man had insulted Islam, police and residents said.

Members of the Buddhist minority in the Cox’s Bazar area in the southeast of the country said unidentified people were bent on upsetting peaceful relations between Muslims and Buddhists.

Muslims took to the streets in the area late on Saturday to protest against what they said was a photograph posted on Facebook that insulted Islam.

The protesters said the picture had been posted by a Buddhist, and they marched to Buddhist villages and set fire to temples and houses.

Home Minister Mohiuddin Khan Alamgir described the attacks on temples as a “premeditated and deliberate attempt” to disrupt harmony.

Muslims in Bangladesh and beyond have also been outraged by violence over the border in Myanmar where members of the majority Buddhist community clashed with minority Muslims this year.

Police had escorted the man accused of posting the insulting photograph and his mother to safety, police superintendent Jahangir said.

Over 100 Buddhists staged a silent protest in the capital Dhaka on Sunday afternoon against the attacks on their temples, witnesses said.

Note “premeditated” and the film mentioned as to start the violence.

If we could just get Obama’s “peaceful religion of Islam” to protest in silence instead of burning everything in site.

Hey World, believe Obama’s Muslim religion or burn.

First they came for the Christians and Jews
Then they came for the Buddhists
Then they came for the Native Indians

They have come for Gore and his global warming tree huggers who are too busy looking for different species of worms.
