AOL To Buy Zsa Zsa’s Huffington Post

From the Wall Street Journal:

AOL to Acquire Huffington Post

February 7, 2011

AOL Inc. disclosed early Monday morning plans to acquire online news website Huffington Post for $315 million, as part of the Internet company’s attempt to turn its business around with a strategy of becoming a top producer of news, entertainment and other digital content…

"We are fusing a legendary and powerful new media brand with a vibrant, innovative news organization," Ms. Huffington said in a statement. "By uniting AOL and The Huffington Post, we are creating one of the largest destinations for smart content and community on the Internet."

"The acquisition of The Huffington Post will create a next-generation American media company with global reach that combines content, community, and social experiences for consumers," AOL CEO Tim Armstrong said in a statement

And by "next-generation American media company" means all Democrat propaganda, all the time. Not that we will be able to tell the difference.

The deal, $300 million of which is to be paid in cash, is expected to close in the first half of 2011. Huffington Post is privately owned by its co-founders, Ms. Huffington, Chairman Kenneth Lerer and a group of investors

How can Ms. Huffington sell for such a low price. We have been constantly told that it makes gazillions of dollars a month.

AOL’s business is struggling as it attempts to make its transition from its roots as a subscription-based service for connecting to the Internet to an ad- supported digital media company. The company faces declines in revenues and traffic to its sites. In the fourth quarter, AOL’s ad revenue, the focus of the company’s turnaround strategy, dropped 29%. Mr. Armstrong has said that he expects the company to achieve growth during the second half of the year.

The Huffington Post acquisition marks the largest deal the company has made since Mr. Armstrong started as chief executive in April 2009

Mr. Armstrong has warned investors and analysts that he would not make any "Hail Mary" acquisitions.

Too late.

Come to think of it, given AOL’s notorious nickname (Ass***** On Line), this seems remarkably appropriate.

Still, speaking of the Wall Street Journal, remember all the concern from the New York Times and other elite media types when Mr. Murdock bought the Journal?

    Oh! It’s all tho thuper!

So, the internet’s most gay agenda “provider” now has a newspaper. Can anyone tell me how that will work out and what kind of “newspaper” that will result in? I’m sure their initial circulation will be very high, then damp down to an undercurrent of minuscule numbers when the real agenda is unveiled. But that may take days…weeks even.

Isn’t there someplace she could get help?

Where’s Tammy Faye Baker when she’s
    really, really, needed?

So let me get this straight. AOL sucks. Huffpo sucks. So AOL buys Huffpo because… they want to suck even harder than usual? It’s a match made in heaven. Like the Titanic and the iceberg. Like the Hindenberg and a match. Like Tiger Woods and his wife.

We can only hope that they drag each other down even further than either could go on their own.

How long till Oblamer writes them a bailout check?

The real story is that “Arianna”is not female. Or, didn’t start out that way.

    Watch for the Adam’s apple.

BTW Huffy will give the commencement address to the 2011 graduating class of Sarah Lawrence College (tres liberal, as you know) May 20, 2011.

“Arianna Huffington is one of the most distinctive and influential voices shaping communications today. We are delighted that she will deliver the commencement address at Sarah Lawrence College, which has always nurtured individual voices and entrepreneurial spirits,” said Sarah Lawrence College President Karen Lawrence, who will preside at the commencement of approximately 300 graduating seniors and 130 students receiving their master’s degrees.
