AP Agit-Props With ‘Dora The Explorer’

From the shameless and relentless propagandists at the Associated Press:

Is Dora the Explorer an illegal immigrant?

By SOPHIA TAREEN (AP) – May 21, 2010

CHICAGO — In her police mug shot, the doe-eyed cartoon heroine with the bowl haircut has a black eye, battered lip and bloody nose.

Dora the Explorer’s alleged crime? "Illegal Border Crossing Resisting Arrest."

The doctored picture, one of several circulating widely in the aftermath of Arizona’s controversial new immigration law, may seem harmless, ridiculous or even tasteless.

But experts say the pictures and the rhetoric surrounding them online, in newspapers and at public rallies, reveal some Americans’ attitudes about race, immigrants and where the immigration reform debate may be headed.

No, this picture reveals the extent to which the media and the rest of the left will go to lie about a perfectly sensible law that mirrors our federal immigration laws.

"Dora is kind of like a blank screen onto which people can project their thoughts and feelings about Latinos," said Erynn Masi de Casanova, a sociology professor at the University of Cincinnati. "They feel like they can say negative things because she’s only a cartoon character."

Can anyone translate this gibberish? Is this “professor” actually claiming that this is an attack on Latinos? If he is that oblivious, should he be allowed to teach – even in Cincinnati?

In Dora’s case, she’s an easy target as discussion ramps up on how lawmakers should address the estimated 12 million illegal immigrants living in the United States.

Again, exactly how is Dora being targeted? And by whom? This is preposterous nonsense, even by the standards of the AP.

Of course the real “easy target” here has been the state of Arizona, which is being demonized by the AP and the rest of the establishment left for simply enforcing our nation’s laws. Laws enacted by our elected representatives in Washington.

For about a decade, the pint-sized Latina character has taught millions of children the English alphabet, colors and Spanish phrases on a Nickelodeon TV show and through a global empire. Her smiling cherub face is plastered on everything from backpacks to T-shirts to fruit snacks.

But since the passage of the Arizona law — which requires authorities to question people about their immigration status if there’s reason to suspect they’re in the country illegally — Dora’s life and immigration status have been scrutinized and mocked.

Several websites, including The Huffington Post, have narrated Dora’s mock capture by immigration authorities. One picture circulating on Facebook shows an ad for a TV show called "Dora the Illegal Immigrant." On the Facebook page "Dora the Explorer is soo an Illegal Immigrant," there are several images showing her sailing through the air over the U.S.-Mexican border…

Oh, so it’s the inanely leftist Huffington Post and just plain inane Facebook that are “targeting” and “mocking” Dora. So it is their “attitudes about race [and] immigrants” that are being “revealed.” What a shock.

As for the mug shot, it’s been around since late last year, when Debbie Groben of Sarasota, Fla. created it and entered it in a contest for the fake news site FreakingNews.com.

Oh, so it turns out that this mug shot was actually created late last year, long before Arizona’s new immigration law made the news.

Since debate over the Arizona law heated up the nation’s immigration debate, it’s been e-mailed and texted widely and used on signs at rallies.

That is, at pro-illegal aliens rallies.

"My intentions were to do something funny, something and irreverent," said Groben, who said she opposes Arizona’s law. "I actually like the little kid."

Meaning that this mug shot was created by someone who opposes the Arizona law – and therefore opposes US immigration laws. So it is not targeting or mocking Dora or her immigration status at all. It is targeting and mocking anyone who believes our immigration laws should be enforced.

How nice of the AP to bury this revelation near the bottom of their propaganda piece.

By the way, can anyone name any other country on the planet where Dora could go without any documents? How about China or Iran? How about the proletariat paradise of Cuba?

How about Mexico – where she would face anywhere from two to ten years in prison for being in the country illegally?

(Thanks to Confucius for the heads up.)

There are 22,798,012 illegal aliens in the country

There are 580,515 illegal aliens other than Mexicans in the country

Exactly, we don’t have a problem calling a spade a spade when it comes to other issues. Example: people in Thailand who wear red shirts are protesting for the same reason, we call them all “red shirts.” When we talk about illegal intruders in this country, we are talking about mexicans, because they comprise 22,217,497 of the 22,798,012 illegal intruders in the country.

Why is it unreasonable to spend a bit more time looking at the group that is responsible for 97.45% of the illegal immigration in our country? If I got robbed every week by a person wearing a blue hat, I would start getting very suspicious of every person wearing a blue hat, heck I might even take some action to defend myself. The US is being robbed everyday and the witnesses are afraid to pick the perp out of the line-up.

“Dora is kind of like a blank screen onto which people can project their thoughts and feelings about Latinos”

So even the kids watching the cartoons are little racists now?

What complete idiocy. This whole thing has gone complete bizarre, and I believe it’s gotten this way because the media is fanning the flames on this issue to give Barack cover on all the economic and international turmoil – but most importantly, to keep people from engaging in the financial reform or Kagan debate. Take your pick, really.

Nickelodean absolutely would run with the absurd idea too, so don’t be surprised if there is a future episode “softly” (subliminally) perverting the issue. Many “childrens” shows illustrate liberal political points and liberal values – without ever seeming to even make sense in reality. That’s kind of the point.

From the television nanny to the public screwel gulag; these are the mechanisms through which Liberals destroy families, manipulate the minds children – destroy lives and whole swaths of society.

Here’s some more Dora propaganda from the liberal bastion of Saturday Night Live: http://www.hulu.com/watch/1610.....v-funhouse.

By the way, does anyone know the meaning of “maraka”?

Where’s Bugs Bunny when we need him?

And thank you 64dodger for pointing out the more accurate population count. I have at least 30 illegals on my short street some 2,000 miles away from the border here on an island.

Was watching O’Rielly last night (guilty pleasure) and Megan Kelly claimed after researching the laws currently on the books, that the Federal Immigration Laws are FAR TOUGHER than the Arizona law. She pointed out that, according to the Supreme Court as of 2005, a federal agent can ask to see the immigration status of ANYONE THEY WANT TO, even if they’re just walking by that person on the street. No wonder it’s taking the Obama Administration so long to figure out how the Arizona Law is unconstitutional….IT ISN”T! (Megan Kelly also said it took her about an hour to read the law between commercial breaks during her afternoon show. Has ANYONE in the administration read it yet?)

“Has ANYONE in the administration read it yet?)”

why would they read it? Just asking the question assumes the administration is trying to represent the people, enact the peoples’ wishes for the country, and govern in a fair and objective manner, all of which are the absolute last items on the checklist.

How would knowing what the law says support their agenda to turn the country into a fascist state ruled by them?

The better question is “How can these criminals so blatantly ignore what 70% of the country favors?”

Like everything else, the marxists already have the answer to everything. Laws and other details like the peoples wishes, 230 year-old traditions and 5,000 years of histrory…….are just obstacles that get in the way of their devine right to power.

And conveniently, the answers to everything end up with the marxists living like royalty with god-like power over the plebes. Funny how that works out, isn’t it.

    • Right of the People

As far as the federal laws being tougher, they are but the administration won’t let us enforce them. That’s why states like Arizona have to take the matter into their own hands. The situation is already out of control with all the kidnappings and murders and getting worse.

  6. NoNeoCommies

Just circulate pictures of those beaten and killed by Mexicans for being in their country illegally.

I would never had known Dora was Mexican. I thought she represented a little girl that every little girl (or boy) could relate too. Her hair reminded me of a little China Doll. I’m so glad the unpolitical correct Associated Press straightened up my difficulty in recognizing races better.

Shouldn’t the company that manufactures “Brat Dolls” be chastised. I mean the audacity of labeling them “Brats” and making them with over-sized heads for their ghetto dressed bodies, and tons of make-up and bling a bad example for little girls.
And why aren’t wealthy afro-americans making dark skinned dolls in the name of equality. Isn’t the light skinned black dolls racist. How about some real equality to bring pride to U.S. children in this country.

  10. confucius

Why does AP assume Dora is Mexican and was arrested and beaten by American authorities?

As far as we know, Dora could be Peruvian or Cuban and was arrested and beaten by Mexican authorities.

    • JohnMG

She could be MEXICAN and have been beaten by Mexican authorities.

Remember, Calderone is of the do-as-I-say—-not-as-I-do persuasion.
