AP: Palin Mistakes Fans For Protesters

Notice that despite the nearly endless supply of gaffes from Democrat VP candidate Joe Biden, this single line mistake (if it even was a mistake) warranted a headline and full article from the Associated Press:

Palin mistakes fans for protesters at Va. rally

By BOB LEWIS, Associated Press Writer Tue Oct 14

RICHMOND, Va. – Republican vice presidential candidate Sarah Palin mistook some of her own fans for hecklers Monday at a rally that drew thousands.

A massive crowd of at least 20,000 spread across the parking lot of Richmond International Raceway, and scores of people on the outer periphery more than 100 yards from the stage could not hear.

“Louder! Louder!” they began chanting, and the cry spread across the crowd to Palin’s left. Some pointed skyward, urging that the volume be increased.

Palin stopped her remarks briefly and looked toward the commotion.

“I hope those protesters have the courage and honor to give veterans thanks for their right to protest,” she said.

Some in the crowd tried to shout toward her what was really being said, but she couldn’t hear them.

On a sunny day in which many had stood in place for more than three hours without shade, at least 25 people collapsed from heat-related illnesses and three were hospitalized, according to the Henrico County fire department…

Also note that according to the Associated Press, the 25 people in the crowd who fainted did so due to “heat-related illnesses.”

You see, unlike at Obama rallies, these people did no swoon over the candidate.

The media is scared to death of this woman. They know she is going to be the next Ronald Reagan. They are going to attack and slander this woman mercilessly. But the good news is that the Country is seeing the media for what they are and are counterattacking! Sarah Palin is going to be the best thing to come from this sorry election cycle.

All this carrying on about our Sarah – not a whisper about ACORN though.

    I was at the rally…

First, what the press weasels don’t mention is the original venue was a few of miles away and was moved (probably because they needed more space, though that is speculation).

Second – there were a heck of a lot more people there than 20k. What I heard was the main area cordoned off was for about 20k, but that area filled shortly after the 1100hrs gate opening. People continued to flow in non-stop past the 1400hr start time. A guy who works the parking during Speedway events said his crew estimated the numbers easily above 32k based on the number of cars they parked using an average of 2 passengers per car…and there were a lot more than 2 in at least half the cars I saw come in.

The over flow of people was huge and whoever was running the sound system was doing a lousy job. My wife was near some of the people yelling for more volume. She said it was clear that the Gov. couldn’t hear them and they didn’t take offense to her comments because they realized she couldn’t hear them (well they are adults not liberals!), and Lord knows she has had to deal with some real nut-job protesters at past events.

Sarah Palin has made BIGGER mistakes than this! She once mistook Charles Gibson and Katie Couric for Journalists! I’m still laughing about THAT one!

Thanks for the true perspective of the Rally, cerberus6. :-)

I am so sick of the MSM’s twisted propaganda. I’m so sick of liars! Sigh.

It’s time to turn off my television until Nov. 4th.

The way things have often happened for Gov. Palin, is that when protesters have started their chants, Palin supporters begin a chant to drown them out. It is difficult to clearly hear many shouted remarks from the stage, and to just hear a chant (not necessarily the words) where the situation was consistant with a noise rise to drown out protestors – hence her reaction, is perfectly acceptable to me. At least she didn’t blurt out her IQ was higher than their’s, and go on to embellish her educational accomplishments, challenge them, and denounce them in a mental prowess confrontation – like Sen Joe Biden (D).
