AP: ‘Lightning Rod For Critics,’ Sebelius Resigns

From the Associated Press:

Sebelius, a lightning rod for critics, resigns

By JULIE PACE and RICARDO ALONSO-ZALDIVAR | April 11, 2014

WASHINGTON (AP) — For five years, Health and Human Services Secretary Kathleen Sebelius has been a lightning rod for critics of President Barack Obama’s health care law.

So why has she’s been a lightning rod for critics? Because she’s a woman? She is just a victim of the Republican ‘War On Women’?

By the way, it isn’t the Republicans who are forcing her out, is it? This is a surprise to them. No, it’s Obama.

But with sign-ups exceeding expectations and a new face soon to be in charge at HHS, the White House is eager to see if the poisonous atmosphere might give way to more pragmatic efforts aimed at fixing problems with the nation’s newest social program.

The Obama administration had to get rid of Ms. Sebelius so they could proceed with "more pragmatic efforts" at fixing Obama-Care? How was she stopping them?

Obama will announce Sebelius’ resignation Friday and nominate his budget director, Sylvia Mathews Burwell, as her replacement. The moves come just over a week after sign-ups closed for the first year of insurance coverage under the so-called Obamacare law.

Shouldn’t that be "after so-called sign ups"? Since we still have no idea how many people have actually bought insurance.

The opening weeks of the enrollment period were marred by website woes, straining ties between Sebelius and officials in the West Wing.

Really? That’s not the way we remember it. We remember team Obama rallying around her.

Though the administration rebounded strongly and exceeded expectations by enrolling 7.1 million people by the March 31 deadline, the comeback wasn’t enough to tamp down Republican criticism of Sebelius or boost the public’s perception of the federal health care overhaul…

That is hard to believe. Even though we are spending $2 trillion dollars to insure maybe 1.5 million people who were the previously uninsured, and illegal aliens are still going to be using hospital ERs, some people still don’t realize what a success Obama-Care has been?

In nominating the 48-year-old Burwell, Obama is tapping a Washington veteran with a low profile and the respect of some Republicans on Capitol Hill. Though she only joined the Obama administration last year, Burwell held several White House and Treasury posts during President Bill Clinton’s administration.

Between her stints in the executive branch, Burwell served as president of Wal-Mart’s charitable arm and led the global development program at the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation.

Obama is replacing Sebelius with someone who worked for Wal-Mart? Oh, the irony.

    “who worked for Wal-Mart…”

this seems to be showing up on more and more job search resumes.

What? What’s this you say? Is it because he’s learned (unlikely) that putting people in positions of high authority who have a known socialist bent or background has gotten us into a lot of trouble and reflected poorly (ne’, catastrophically) on your administration/regime?

It is unlikely that Obama “learns” anything other than a small adaptation on how to do more and better “end-runs” to usurp our system and hide/obscure his real intentions….because he seems to be acutely aware that to destroy us from within, he has to be more subtle. But the guy is naturally about as subtle as a jackhammer on a quiet Sunday morning

He’s an in-your-face type, provided he has Bruno and Jimmy “the knife” Bruzzi behind him when he insults and berates you.

If the media didn’t vet him before the election, it’s all-too-clear why that is now; He’s an idiot, a loser, a very poor speaker, definitely not a thinker or intellectually astute individual. He is a collectivist prig in the classical sense. That is, “I’ve made it to the big-time, screw all you little people, though I will use certain pockets of you to further my own needs, while also reaching into your pockets to take your money (again, for my own needs)”.

His behavior is and always has been very obvious. His disgusting other half has ostracized decent society, instead opting for a blue-ghetto look to our inner-circle of highly paid power-brokers. But they have distanced themselves from her as well, because she is such a misanthrope, they despise her. They have nothing in common except their hatred of this nation, but they stab each other in the back anyway so…while they may be tied to our destruction in one sense, they all hate each other in another.

Yet they band together to destroy us. It’s actually the only thing that holds them together. Conservatives are mystified as to why that is. If they didn’t have us to hate, they would fall apart. Conservatives though have many wide and varied interests, along with a collective dislike for the leftwing ubermenschen. So we occasionally come together to fight them but we also want to go see friends and family and focus on the good and wholesome and fun things in our lives, rather than center around castigating our enemy(ies).

There’s so much more to life than what the left focuses on. While they’re busy whining about getting free money for sex-changes, conservatives are out being happy as they are. And THAT is what gets them the most angry of all. We’re actually happy, working, doing, playing, being.

They are perpetually UN-happy. Unhappy with their job (if they work), their family, their home, their property (if they have any) and thus, like the spoiled child, they DEMAND that OTHERS fix it because it can’t possibly be their own fault.

    *sigh*

I just stopped caring about the poor, the starving, the undereducated, the underprivileged, the needy, the left-outs, the unneeded, etc. Why? Because I’m way too busy living my life. I have many projects to work on, get done which go directly to my own center. I don’t feel a need to provide for the people who won’t do anything for themselves because it occupies way too much of my time that I reserve for me and mine.

As Willie Nelson (ironically) sang, “Why don’t you mid your own business and you won’t be minding mine.”

So Obama has a new kid on the block that we know nothing about. But I’ll bet ya this replacement is nothing different than yet another socialist in environmentally-friendly capitalist-like clothing.

“served as president of Wal-Mart’s charitable arm and led the global development program at the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation.”

so we know her most notable resume highlight is funneling someone else’s money away to good lib causes. apparently she is perfectly qualified for her new position
