AP: Mass Unemployment, Lower Wages Is ‘New Normal’

The AP’s subtle point here is we are supposed to accept Obama’s failed economy as the ‘new normal.’ There’s nothing that can be done about it. And certainly none of this is Obama’s fault.

From the whirling dervishes at the Associated Press:

AP: Mass Unemployment, Lowered Wages The New ‘Normal’ Economy

July 4, 2015

WASHINGTON (AP) — Even after another month of strong hiring in June and a sinking unemployment rate, the U.S. job market just isn’t what it used to be.

There wasn’t any ‘strong hiring’ in June. More people gave up looking for work than got a job.

Pay is sluggish. Many part-timers can’t find full-time work. And a diminished share of Americans either have a job or are looking for one. Yet in the face of global and demographic shifts, this may be what a nearly healthy U.S. job market now looks like.

Yep, this is just he way it is and we have to accept it. After all, the inability to find full-time work has nothing to do with Obama-Care. And the "demographic shifts have nothing to do with Obama flooding the country with illegal aliens and giving them work permits.

Many economists think these trends will persist for years despite steady job growth…

There has not been any job growth, let alone ‘steady job growth.’ And repeating this lie will not make it true.

Even so, the generally improving job market still bears traits that have long been regarded as weaknesses. Among them:

The AP goes on to list the culprits, which they do their best to explain without ever blaming Obama or his policies. (We’ve removed the AP’s explanations, but you’ve heard them a hundred times before.)

A shrunken labor force…

Because people have just given up hope. Because of increased competition, and also because there are so many welfare benefits that can be had in place of working.

The retirement of the vast baby boom generation…

Study after study has shown retirement to have less impact that the media would have us believe. Primarily because fewer and fewer people can afford to retire.

Younger workers are starting their careers later…

Could that be because there are very few ‘career’ jobs available?

The number of part-timers who would prefer full-time work remains high.

Which is directly attributable to Obama-Care. Even though we were assured this would never happen.

Weak pay growth…

Could that be due to the flood of illegal and legal (H-1B) workers who are not only increasing competition, but who are undercutting wages?

Anyway, the AP’s point here is that we are supposed to accept all of this as the ‘new normal.’ There’s nothing that can be done about it. And nobody can blame Obama.

What? No one at the AP wanted authorship credit on this fine story?

One may remember that Rush Limbaugh predicted this in 2008.

The “new Normal” was his phrase-of-the-day for many of his shows. It was accompanied by “I hope he fails” which got more press time but for thinking Americans, it was all accurate and spelled out by the great Maha Rushi years ago.

I nodded my head in great ditto-age and now here we are. Half the country doesn’t work or is collecting from the other half that does. It may not be the beginning of the end but it sure looks like it.

I often wonder how my New England former high-school self-proclaimed saviors of the world see things now. I’m sure they have rationalized it somehow but to hear them say it would probably make my head explode.

Annnnd—-there’s just one last thing for president Idiot to accomplish to make it all “perfect” for him which is to seize everyone’s retirement accounts.
