er, so the US can't make those big, nasty gas-guzzling GLOBAL warmers ... but it's okay for China to make 'em? Is China on a different globe?

If Obama has his way, we'll all be driving those little clown cars. But, ladies, don't worry about looking ridiculous behind the wheel. If Obama has his way, nobody will recognize us -- in our burkas...

Just to clarify, AM General, which makes the military HMMWVs and made the H1 and H2 under contract for GM, is not a part of GM and so the sale of the Hummer brand does not involve the sale of AM General:

Due in part to the military HMMWV's success in Desert Storm, AM General introduced a civilian version of the vehicle called the HUMMER in 1992. Known as “the world’s most serious 4x4,” the revolutionary vehicle has found favor with commercial users who appreciated the value of HUMMER’s long life and amazing performance, and individuals who seek the ultimate in toughness and mobility. In 1999, General Motors acquired the HUMMER brand worldwide and rebadged the original vehicle H1. In 2002, AM General began assembling the HUMMER H2 for GM in its new factory in Mishawaka, Ind. This vehicle was designed by and is marketed by General Motors. In 2006, production of the H1 ceased. Although GM acquired the HUMMER brand, they do not own any part of AM General.

My guess the secrecy is Obama may be giving them to China to reduce our debt. Since Fed Govt owns GM at the moment, we should be allowed to know. So much for transparency, and waste of Hillary's trip apologizing to China that America caused their global warming, and lecture for them to clean their air.
Those GM hummer/humvees, new and old, are stockpiled, when gas prices and greenies, they couldn't give them away.
hmm. Maybe that's where the fighter jets Obama did away with are going too.

I have been hearing all day that Hummer isn't the same as the HumVee.

Is AM General part of Gov Motors?

I thought it was a separate company.

The same reason Clinton was being shy selling U.S. missile gyros to the Chinks. You didn't hear of this in the media except for Rushs' show back in the mid 90's.
The Moron can't and won't protect us .....He's just feathering Micheles' nest!

Also Hummer was the iconic planet killing SUV line that was attacked by the greenies. Questions would arise as to why they would dump hummer, as apposed to a division like Saturn that makes fuel efficient rolling coffins. That is if we really did have a watch-dog media.

Remember the campaign? All of the talk about sending jobs overseas? Well, Obama has taken over two of the largest companies in America and has sold whole or part of each to a foreign entity.

Don't worry though; Sichuan Tengzhong is a privately owned company. Like GM.

Hilariously, the AP has finally been shamed into updating their article:

AP source: GM to sell Hummer to Chinese company

By TOM KRISHER and BREE FOWLER, AP Auto Writers

DETROIT – General Motors Corp. took a key step toward its downsizing on Tuesday, striking a tentative deal to sell its Hummer brand to a Chinese manufacturer, while also revealing that it has potential buyers for its Saturn and Saab brands.

GM has an agreement to sell its Hummer brand to Sichuan Tengzhong Heavy Industrial Machinery Co. of China, said a person briefed on the deal...

Assuming they will attempt to build Hummers here still, means the Chinese will now have to deal with the UAW. Perhaps a new era of "empathy" might arise.

"Why is Mr. Obama being so shy about selling to the Chinese?"

Because Hummers have military value.

Americans might not be too thrilled with reducing our ability to manufacture a key military vehicle, not to speak of the disclosure of trade secrets.

What rational observor could possibly say that The Moron is trying to protect us?

" the sale of its Hummer brand of large sport utility vehicles and pickup trucks to a machinery company in western China"

Is this what all American car companies are going to have to do in order to keep vans, trucks, SUVs, and Hummers on the road after the 2016 emissions kick in? Or are international companies bound by the same limits on autos sold within the U.S.?

Way to make it impossible to build good cars here...
