AP: Palin Is A Stupid Machiavellian Genius

From the endlessly despicable Associated Press:

On shootings and politics, Palin has her own rules

January 13, 2011

WASHINGTON (AP) — With her video accusing critics of "blood libel," Sarah Palin again showed an unprecedented and daring political command of social networking to maintain a high profile in speculation about the Republican Party and the 2012 presidential race.

Note how the AP leads with the "blood libel" line. As if this is a scandal. They are trying to imply that it demonstrates some kind of anti-Semitism, when, in fact it does no such thing at all.

The only real scandal here is our news media’s either feigned or real ignorance of the history and usage of that well-worn phrase.

The former Alaska governor regularly gets nationwide attention with her selective use of Facebook and Twitter, choosing provocative words when others testing the presidential waters prefer a lighter touch.

Some political pros say her tactics, which protect her from mainstream reporters and neutral audiences, are savvy and effective.

Others say she will have to change if she hopes to win the crucial Iowa caucus or New Hampshire primary, let alone the 2012 general election. Many agree she’s a master at exploiting the campaign possibilities of fast-changing social media.

Apparently, on even days Sarah Palin is an ignorant hick from the hinterlands who has no business in politics. On odd days, she is a Machiavellian political wunderkind with a positive genius for manipulating the ‘new media’ to get attention and advance her (bizarre) agenda.

Palin was bound to be drawn into the national debate that followed Saturday’s shooting rampage in Arizona, which killed six people and gravely wounded Democratic Rep. Gabrielle Giffords.

What a disingenuous way to put this, even by the AP’s standards. Ms. Palin "was bound to be drawn in" when the news media like the AP and the rest of the Democrat party proclaimed she more or less pulled the trigger.

Last March, Giffords noted in a TV interview that Palin’s political committee had targeted her district, among others, with crosshairs. "There are consequences to that action," Giffords warned.

There is no evidence that the shooting suspect, Jared Loughner, knew of Palin’s actions. But Giffords’ remarks seemed eerily prophetic, and her husband and friends complained bitterly of the criticisms Republicans had heaped on her in the fall campaign

This is how low the Associated Press has fallen. Rep. Giffords’ remarks were not prophetic. Palin’s PAC website had no consequences whatsoever insofar as these shooting are concerned.

And it is a despicable, loathsome ‘blood libel’ to continue to pretend that they did, as the AP is doing here in their oh so artful fashion.

On Wednesday, Palin posted a video on her Facebook page in which she defended her actions and rebuked the news media and her critics.

"Especially within hours of a tragedy unfolding," she said, "journalists and pundits should not manufacture a blood libel that serves only to incite the very hatred and violence they purport to condemn."

A statement that is irrefutably true.

The term "blood libel" raised eyebrows. While the phrase "has become part of the English parlance to refer to someone being falsely accused," said Abraham Foxman of the Anti-Defamation League, it is "fraught with pain in Jewish history."

The term is associated with centuries-old claims that Jews killed Christian children for rituals. Some Jewish lawmakers felt Palin’s comments were especially ill-advised because Giffords is Jewish.

What ignorant nonsense. The phrase ‘blood libel’ is no more limited to the Jews than is the phrase ‘well poisoner.’ They have both been common accusations against the Jews throughout history. But that doesn’t mean that they are used exclusively in reference to them.

Educated people have used ‘blood libel’ and ‘well poisoner’ for years in political discussions. A Google search for "blood libel" returns 415,000 hits.

While bloggers speculated on whether Palin knew the term’s history, political pros marveled at her continued ability to dive into national debates when, where and how she chooses

Palin clearly understands the term’s history better than these "bloggers" and the Solons at the Associated Press do.

Some Republicans doubt that Palin and her small group of confidants spend a lot of time in deep, strategic thinking. She seems to follow her instincts, they say, which have helped propel her to remarkable amounts of fame and wealth — starting, of course, when Republican presidential nominee John McCain made her his running mate in 2008…

Notice how the AP can always find such hand anonymous Republicans to say exactly what they want said.

Even so, we wish the reporters at the AP would make up their minds. Is Palin a master strategist or just an airhead out for fame and wealth?

Many Democrats think Palin is much better at making money and gossipy headlines than in assembling the kind of political operation that can carry her to the White House.

"Every time she pops off, she excites her narrowing band of partisans and probably makes herself more money, but she further alienates everyone else," said Democratic consultant Jim Jordan, a veteran of presidential campaigns…

Ever notice how Democrats and their lickspittle minions in the news media always portray conservatives as being venal and only saying and doing what they do for filthy lucre?

They simply cannot comprehend that anyone could possibly disagree with their agenda without having a base motive. Or at least they pretend not to be able to comprehend that.

Meanwhile, look at how rich Democrat politicians tend to get doing their public service. How does that happen? And why does no one ever question their motives?

Still, isn’t it telling how much character assassination is being done by our news media? All under the cover of outrage at the Tucson shootings.

The AP: laziness at its best, yellow journalism at its worst.

  2. Melly says:

You can’t blame Palin moments after a mass shooting and expect her not to respond.
I forgot that Bristol Palin will be attending college in Arizona.
When will Palin be freed from the liberal pillory?
I found it distasteful that Obama threw politics into the memorial service by controlling the theme of it via t-shirts. He needs to orchestrate the grieving process too? Ah yes…I remember Reagan’s people giving out T-shirts at the Space Shuttle Challenger memorial service. (not)

  3. untrainable says:

I can’t get past the first sentence of this one. “With her video accusing critics of “blood libel,” Sarah Palin again showed …”
She didn’t accuse her critics of blood libel. She pointed out that her critics are accusing HER of blood libel. “journalists and pundits should not manufacture a blood libel that serves only to incite the very hatred and violence they purport to condemn.” Geeze, if you’re going to mischaracterize a quote, don’t put the actual quote in the article.

Once AP heard the phrase, nothing else mattered. Dateline today…… Palin hates Jews….. fantastically fabricated details at 11:00….

  4. River says:

This is a classic ‘progressive’/crypto-Marxist tactic: Attack someone, and when they defend themselves accuse them of being “defensive” (a non-politically correct attitude for Leftists). Chris Matthews, for example, has been violently abusing Sarah for years, and said yesterday that he hopes “she will be erased from the political scene”. This is exactly the same term used by the Nazis when describing ‘The Final Solution’ on “the Jewish problem”.

Alan Dershowitz, one of America’s best legal minds – particularly in relation to Israel’s right to exist – is defending Sarah’s use of the blood libel term:

“The term “blood libel” has taken on a broad metaphorical meaning in public discourse. Although its historical origins were in theologically based false accusations against the Jews and the Jewish People, its current usage is far broader. I myself have used it to describe false accusations against the State of Israel by the Goldstone Report.”

  5. tranquil.night says:

If Giffords’ mentioning the crosshair map is ‘prophetic’ to the Liberal’s media, then how is Mark Pence wishing for the president’s benefit for this very type of thing to happen months ago not?

    Rhetorical question.

  6. proreason says:

Be aware that this is an orchestrated program, planned out months or years in advance.

    Every organization has its role.
    – Do you think it was a coincidence that little Paulie Krugman was first out of the box?
    – Do you think it is a coincidence that Lincoln Chaffee in Rhode Island is the first to ban talk radio in his state?
    – Do you think it is a conincidence that the congresswoman opened her eyes the “first time” immediately after little lenin’s visit.
    – Do you think the memorial service, the one with t-shirts, arose spontaneously and was held on a college campus because no other venue was available. Note that there was no religious inocation.
    – Do you think it was just chance that the real facts of the situation were withheld from the public for 4 days while the sheriff made the rounds of the leftist talk shows.
    – Do you think it’s random that Sarah Palin and Rush Limbaugh have somehow been portrayed as the villains, rather that the deranged gunman?

This took a tremendous amount of foresight and planning. The plans have been on hard drives for a long time. So far, everybody has played his or her role perfectly.

    • TerryAnne says:

You hit it on the head, proreason! I’ve been wondering the same thing; as how the entire leftist sphere seemed to turn as one as soon as word of the assassination attempt hit. It seems to me that they had a contingency plan in place (though not with the specific target (i.e. Giffords) in place).

    • tranquil.night says:

It’s shockingly sick even when you know that’s who these people are. If they’ll do it with a tragedy like this, they’ll do it with practically anything and everything. And they do.

    • proreason says:

      You ain’t seen nothin yet.

I’ve said many times they will stop at nothing. Of course, everyone thinks saying so is hyperbole. It can’t happen in America.

The thing that people don’t understand is that the Krugman layer of leftists can self-justify ANYTHING. His class enthusiasticlly supported Stalin during the purges of the 1930’s.

Krugman hasn’t apoligized for his 100% falacious attack on conservatives within 2 hours of the murders because he isn’t sorry about it. He isn’t sitting around wringing his hands worried if he went to far. They guy doesn’t have a single ethic. He doesn’t even have a concept of morality. People like him are total relativists. He long ago convinced himself that he should be ruling the world, because if he did, the world would be much better. Anything he does to move that along is totally justified. ANYTHING. There isn’t an iota of difference between a person like him and Josef Stalin.

Just because they haven’t murdered 50 million people yet doesn’t mean that they wouldn’t do it.

My husband and I thought the same thing last night when we were watching the spectacle. My hubby commented on how The One has healed her.

I thought most of last night was in poor taste. To me it was more of a speechifying pre 2012 platform from which to stump and the part that irked me to no end was The One’s cheerleaders strategically placed around the auditorium – all wearing red golf shirts over white shirts – cheerleading the masses when to applaud when The One spoke. There were even two of them in the section where some of the injured were seated (including the parents of the little girl who was killed!) If this wasn’t in bad taste then I don’t know what was. If it’s on Youtube, it’s worth a watch to see what I mean.

The other part of King Obama’s behavior was standing there soaking up the rapturous applause, of him looking down upon his adoring audience and all that damn glad handing and behaving as if he was a freaking rockstar and some 20,000 groupies were after his autograph. Nope. He was out stumping and victims be damned – they’re just an inconvenience to him.

And of course the Bamster had to get in the term ‘life partners’ right after describing husbands and wives!

Frist off there was that feathery dolt who babbled bullship for 15 minutes about pagan gods and blah etc all done with much theatrical arm-waving and featherholding. I hit the ‘mute’ button right after him saying he had the permission of his elders to say the prayer. I much prefer the True God of heaven and earth because we can all of us can pray to Him at any time and without the need of a long-haired goof.

How about the Christian God who was behind America’s greatness? Well it seems He has been disfellowshipped by the Courts.

I wonder whose idea it was for Napolitano, Holder et al to quote Scripture. Astounding. The selection from Isaiah very a propos. Someone at the WH is very familiar with Handel’s Messiah….

The only speaker who had any class was Mr. Hernandez (Gabby’s aide) who spoke from his heart, without any notes – and who clearly resonated with everyone there.

    • wardmama4 says:

Sadly – I thought the same thing – which I do believe given how this entire ‘memorial’ turned out – was the intentional reason that the msm inserted – ‘after President Obama visited her’ into the meme.

Disgusting, juvenile, vile, evil and just plain wrong. But don’t worry – Obamabots can’t remember 2 years down the road.

Next week the 112th Congress sets about to undo the ‘111th Congress – never forget the most ethical Congress ever’ un-Constitutional, economy destroying work – And the real Obama will come back quickly.

BTW – at Heritage.org – They are saying that the states filing against Obamacare is now at 50% due to the Medicaid machinations – I don’t read nor listen to the msm – is that fact out there?

No, I didn’t think so – a week before they vote on REPEAL of Obamacare – the WH and it’s propaganda arm (the msm) don’t want the stupid masses to know that 71% of Americans want Obamacare repealed and that 50% of the state governments are filing suits against it.

    • Liberals Demise says:

I, personally, am waiting for an ‘Oswald’ event to happen.
You know, like how the shooter gets offed by some despondent
follower of “Hope and Change” or just some one who’s out to be an avenger.

  7. David says:

Yes, ‘Blood-libel’ is very offensive for Sarah Palin to use. However, every time the MSN does a story about ‘polar bear holocaust’ because of global warming, that is not offensive at all.

  8. River says:

This is from ‘Rules for Radicals’ by Saul Alinsky, a Marxist dedicated to overthrowing the U.S.:

    8. “Keep the pressure on, with different tactics and actions, and utilize all events of the period for your purpose.”

    9. “The threat is usually more terrifying than the thing itself.”

    10. “The major premise for tactics is the development of operations that will maintain a constant pressure upon the opposition. It is this unceasing pressure that results in the reactions from the opposition that are essential for the success of the campaign.”

    11. “If you push a negative hard and deep enough, it will break through into its counter-side… every positive has its negative.”

    12. “The price of a successful attack is a constructive alternative.”

    13. Pick the target, freeze it, personalize it, and polarize it. In conflict tactics there are certain rules that [should be regarded] as universalities. One is that the opposition must be singled out as the target and ‘frozen.’…

“…any target can always say, ‘Why do you center on me when there are others to blame as well?’ When your ‘freeze the target,’ you disregard these [rational but distracting] arguments…. Then, as you zero in and freeze your target and carry out your attack, all the ‘others’ come out of the woodwork very soon. They become visible by their support of the target…’

“One acts decisively only in the conviction that all the angels are on one side and all the devils on the other.”

Alinsky’s book is dedicated to Lucuifer, “The first radical, who won himself a kingdom”.

Chris Matthews had him on his show last summer, and called him, “A hero of the ’60’s” .

  9. tranquil.night says:

Oh, and meanwhile, Barry’s got his mojo back, “the finest moment of his presidency” (Morrisey) because he delivers a speech that doesn’t completely shat on the truth – not because he was being genuine (you haven’t seen the WH admonishing the Left for the shameless political capitalism, have you?) but because there was absolutely no evidence to pin this on us (damn!)

So it’s come to this: Barack goes the moderately civil route (while nevertheless still tastefully making the completely irrelevant rhetoric issue the mainstay of his memorial lecture) and it’s the finest moment of his presidency.

Good grief, tingles everywhere. Why yes, we’re all in need of some healing feelings. How about some frickin’ jobs already. How about laying off all the blatant cronyism, power grabs, and flat out lies? That might help.

  10. hushpuppy says:

I have been trying for years now to figure out if libs/Dems/socialists/progressives – whatever you want to call them – actually believe the malarkey and outright lies they spout.

I’ve come to the conclusion that people like Nancy Pelosi are divorced from reality like Cheech and Chong: too many mind-altering drugs in the 60s; her reality is perma-stoned.

Then there are those like the Kennedys: the know it’s all bull crap, every lie artfully crafted to sway the stupid into trading their votes for some contrived Camelot, where the Government hands out soma with the welfare checks, and singing the siren-song ‘Sleep now, sleep now sheep…I’ll take care of you.’

Deceiving and being deceived: that’s the lunatic left – indulging in decades of social engineering replacing God, country and family with artificial and unstable constructs: Government is your new parent as well as Big Brother and Big Sister!

I’ll bet they envy how things are done in Cuba and North Korea – the government takes care of everything keeping the best for themselves of course – and in North Korea everyone has a radio in their homes that is literally hardwired into the electrical panel. It has one channel: the government propaganda channel. It has no knobs for volume control: it is always on. Some people have hung their coats and blankets around the speaker to muffle The Voice that is omnipresent. And it is illegal to disable it in any way, punishable with prison.

That’s their ‘fairness doctrine’ at play.

What in hell happened to the ‘live and let live’ the left was famous for back in the 60’s?

It seems 1968 was the watershed year when it all began to change…

    • proreason says:

      Allow me to help.

They beleive the malarkey and they don’t.

Ah, you say, it can’t be proreason, it must be prononsense. But no, it’s still me, the reasoned one.

The gordian knot is this…..they don’t believe that truth exists. Hence, their contempt for the Bible and the Constitution, both of which lay out the truth quite clearly. But a true leftist simply doesn’t accept that any truth can possibly exist. Everything is relative.

This allows intellectual gymnastics that are genuinely astonishing. Paul Krugman can say something that is plainly wrong, yet feel no need to retract it. He wasn’t trying to tell the truth. He was forwading the agenda. There is no truth anyway, so what does it matter.

Example 2, Queen Nancy with a straight face says that Obamyscare will reduce the deficit. She probably is insane, but it doesn’t matter for this analysis. Of course she knows that in the “accounting universe”, what she insists is not true. But there are many universes, you see, and in the “whatever Nancy says is good for the world universe”, what she says is true. So why should she confine herself to the universe that doesn’t suit her purpose. In her mind, THAT would be insane. Hence, she can say words clowns couldn’t say in character, without any self doubt whatsoever. “We have to pass the bill so you can know what’s in it.”. It may sound dumb to you, but that’s you. She is more important than you, and it doesn’t sound dumb to her, so whay should your stupid opinion matter? See how it works.

Now I’ve gone off into the relativism weeds here so I want to pull back and remind you of an even more basic truth than relativism.

Turds like Little Paulie may be so immersed in the mental gymnastics that they really believe them and yes there are many like Piglosi who should be in an institution…….but 99% of liberals are simply criminals. They know they are lying, but it’s so lucrative, why would they stop?

    • tranquil.night says:

Man is such a powerful creation it has the power to make its fantasies a reality. Those whose realities are fantasies fancy themselves gods. It’s the only scientific explanation to them after all: the only truth to life is the game of getting ahead, survival of the fittest. You’re either the biggest carnivore on the block, the big guy’s buddy or his prey. The hilarious thing is how they profess to be anti-competition, anti-capitalist, when pure selfish greed is basically their soul. They preach that meme because they’re actually trying to elevate themselves further above the ants, by not allowing the ants and sheep the opportunity to enjoy the power and luxuries they have. They firmly believe they are nature’s intended pack leaders. Moreover, that their ideas of how to control people are philanthropic and in the people’s interest.

Edit: To answer your question about whether they believe it or not, yes a lot of them really do. Here’s Huffing and Puffington oogling over the latest in Chinese urban eco-Central Planning: http://www.huffingtonpost.com/2011/01/13/tianjin-eco-city_n_806972.html#s221861

    President Palin.

Has a nice sound to it, wouldn’t y’all agree?

If y’all start practicing now, think how smart you’ll look by 1/20/2013.

Gawd, I just love that woman!

    • For a time, I was actually considering that even though I do so love Sarah Palin, perhaps placing her as the candidate might not be a good idea.

Frankly screw those earlier thoughts. At the very least she is earning it. She is as presidential as anyone we have, and is truly a person who carries the spirit of this country.

Even in their twisted/deranged/progressive state, the left knows this. They fear her like no other.

    • wardmama4 says:

Yes Jason – just to see what the Left/Liberals do as she progresses upward – will be reward enough for me – It will be worth it for the humor alone.

The thing is – that Sarah Palin puts to Lie everything that the Left has been spewing for decades – and her popularity and the rising of other people holding to similar views throughout America (and our new Congress) show that Palin is not alone.

And that is what the Left/Liberals fear the most: (to use their own words against them – which is what Palin, Limbaugh et al do) Speaking Truth to Power!

President Palin – yes – by golly gee – It does sound nice.

  14. Reality Bytes says:

“Leave us alone. We’ll take care of ourselves.”

“We’re here to help you live with less.”

Which one is the conservative & which one is the liberal?

SP will crush the Washington establishment & they know it. Obama’s looking to raise a billion dollars. I think Sarah could probably do that standing on her head at this point.

They along with BM (Big Media – funny they share the same acronym with bowel movement isn’t it) are afraid of her. Both have a long history of personal destruction.

Sarah is at the forefront of a new American movement; a leader in a way. As we should for all of our leaders, the governor needs our prayers.

And remember, I saw her first.*

*my 08 post replying to speculation about McCain’s VP pick. I recall how the site lit up with other posts affirming her as a great pick. She still is. Keep the faith!
