AP: Pvt. Chelsea Manning Says She Is Doing Well

From a relieved Associated Press:

Convicted Wikileaks soldier doing well in prison

BALTIMORE (AP) — A lawyer for Army Pvt. Chelsea Manning said in a blog post on Thursday the soldier is doing well as she goes through processing at the military prison at Fort Leavenworth.

David Coombs wrote that he spoke on Wednesday with Manning, previously known as Bradley Manning [sic], while she goes through the three-to-four-week period known as indoctrination at the Kansas prison…

Hasn’t ‘she’ been indoctrinated enough?

Coombs, who lives in Rhode Island, also said he plans to travel there in the coming weeks to meet with medical staff and the leadership in the quest to allow Manning to receive hormone therapy and other treatment for her gender dysphoria — the sense of being a woman trapped in a man’s body…

It is Army policy not to provide such treatment; soldiers diagnosed with gender dysphoria are administratively discharged.

How backward of them! This policy must be changed immediately. (And never mind how it will frustrate the ‘Sargent Klingers’ of the world.)

But Manning cannot be discharged until he completes his prison sentence and exhausts all appeals of his court-martial findings…

Which could account for her sudden discovery of ‘dysphoria’ right before she was to be sentenced.

Coombs wrote on his blog that he told Manning during their conversation Wednesday of the public’s response to the "Today" show announcement [last week that Chelsea wanted to live her life as a woman], and of the decision by several news organizations, including AP, to refer to her by her new name.

"Chelsea was very happy to hear of these developments. She requested that I relay how grateful that she is for everyone’s understanding and continued support," Coombs wrote.

She should have at least mentioned the AP and the NYT by name.

Coombs also said Manning has already made some new friends at the prison "who accept her for who she is."

We bet they do. In fact, we suspect some must be thanking their lucky stars.

In any case, apparently it is now a new ‘civil right’ to be whatever sex you feel like at any given moment. And to have everyone call you whatever you feel your name should be at any given time. After all, who are we to stand in the way of progress?

You don’t even have to legally change your name now for the left to call you whatever youwant?

If I am ever unfortunate enough to become nationally known, I will insist that the NYT and AP call me ‘HomoH8ter’.

    One question. Who cares?

The fact that Manning (I refuse to refer to Manning as she or as Chelsea because Manning still has a penis and has not gone through the legal process of making a name change legal) wasn’t taken out back and shot for treason was the end of this story for me. The only other news I want to hear about this waste of flesh would be to hear that treatment for alleged and last minute mental disorder will not be paid for at taxpayer expense. Somehow I doubt that news will ever happen.

A ‘transitioned’ acquaintance told me physical ‘therapy’ was held to be a matter of civil rights in Canada. Whatever the status is on that, the reasoning why holds up in Search : http://www.livescience.com/11208-high-suicide-risk-prejudice-plague-transgender-people.html

I would humbly suggest that the high rate of suicide and suicide attemps among these, ahem, gentlemen proves they are mentally ill and emotionally disturbed. They need mental health professionals not surgeons.
