AP: Romney Tries To Steady Shaky Campaign

From the CREEPs (Committee To Re-Elect The President) at the Associated Press:

Romney looks to steady shaky campaign

By KASIE HUNT and STEVE PEOPLES | Tues September 18, 2012

WASHINGTON (AP) — Republican presidential nominee Mitt Romney is trying to steady a shaky campaign as President Barack Obama, enjoying a burst of momentum, heads to New York for a celebrity fundraiser with Beyoncé and Jay-Z and a star turn on David Letterman’s couch.

Wow! What a great Celebrity In Chief we have in Obama. He is doing fundraisers with Jay Z Beyoncé and star turns with David Letterman! Why would we want anyone else to be the ‘Preezy of the United Steezy’?

By the way, this is supposed to be a news report, not an editorial.

Romney is trying to contain the political fallout of an unauthorized video of him telling donors that almost half of all Americans "believe they are victims" entitled to extensive government support and adding that as a candidate for the White House, "my job is not to worry about those people."

The only people who are going to be offended by this are the people who have the entitlement mentality. And they are a lost cause anyway, at least in this election.

But telling the truth about entitlements is to Democrats what insulting Mohammed is to devout Muslims.

Romney was also trying to shake stories that his campaign was in disarray and looking for a change in direction seven weeks before Election Day.

Stories undoubtedly planted in the press just in time for this months old video to ‘surface.’

In a hastily arranged meeting with reporters late Monday, Romney said that while his comments were "not elegantly stated," he stood by his remarks about Americans who do not pay taxes.

"Those who are reliant on government are not as attracted to my message of slimming down the size of government," Romney said in Costa Mesa, Calif., doubling down on his statement…

Which is a plain fact.

The former Massachusetts governor did not have public events Tuesday…

Obama, meanwhile, was set to collect almost $4 million at a $40,000-a-ticket fundraiser at a Manhattan nightclub and another at the Waldorf Astoria hotel. He also planned to reach out to less-engaged voters on CBS’ "Late Show With David Letterman."

Obama was expected to welcome the WNBA champion Minnesota Lynx at the White House before flying to New York.

What a man!

Romney faced growing complaints that his campaign fumbled opportunities at the Republicans’ August convention, on foreign unrest and, most crucially, on the U.S. economy, which is seen as Obama’s weakest point.

And never mind that there have been no fumbles. The news media believe that if they repeat this lie often enough, it will become true.

The late-afternoon release of the secretly recorded video, posted on the magazine Mother Jones’ website, did little to calm jitters as Democrats quickly criticized Romney.

"Mitt Romney’s insulting comments during a closed-door meeting with a group of wealthy donors regarding half the people in the United States show just how out of touch he really is with middle-class families," said Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid, D-Nev. "The job of president is to fight for everybody, regardless of their wealth or social status."

Harry Reid, the pathological liar?

Still, has Mr. Reid ever commented on President Obama’s jihad against the so-called rich? You know, those millionaires and billionaires, who make over $200,000 a year?

When has Obama ever fought for them? He always seems to be fighting against them? In fact, his entire re-election campaign is based on running against the so-called rich.

In the video, Romney said 47 percent of Americans pay no income tax. About 46 percent of Americans owed no federal income tax in 2011, although many of them paid other forms of taxes. More than 16 million elderly Americans avoid federal income taxes solely because of tax breaks that apply only to seniors, according to the nonpartisan Tax Policy Center.

So the AP grudingly admits that what Romney said is completely true. 47% of the Americans don’t pay any income tax. (And Romney didn’t even mention that a good many of those people actually get money back, as part of the government’s various income redistribution schemes.)

And those "other forms of taxes" that the AP mentions are undoubtedly the payroll tax. Which is really only a payment towards Social Security ‘insurance’ and Medicare ‘insurance.’ They are not paying into to the general treasury. (And which Obama has cut for employees.)

To claim paying a small amount towards Social Security benefits is like paying income tax is like saying your contribution towards your employer provided healthcare insurance, means you are paying to support the company.

Other forms of taxes could also include alcohol, cigarettes, and a bag of chips.

Meanwhile, our imposer in chief is chumming with the likes of Jay Z. Here’s an excerpt from Jay Z’s book “Decoded”.

Jay-Z’s first arrest came at age 16. He was dealing in Trenton, because his friend “Hill” had a supplier there. Hill had enrolled in the local high school, and one day when Jay-Z went to meet him, he got caught with crack in his pockets on the campus. Since he had no prior arrests, the police let him go, but they confiscated his supply. In order to make up the cash to the supplier, Jay-Z had to go back to Marcy and deal crack 60 hours straight — three days in a row, he writes. He kept awake by “eating cookies and writing rhymes on the back of brown paper bags.” (New York Post)

If gang activity, violence, drive by’s, rape, and killing increases we can blame Obama for encouraging our youth to follow in his steps and hang out with Jay Z.

I always mention Obama having Jay-Z to the White House to African Americans and they are always shocked and can’t believe it. Whether they be moral or the gang type, they are truly stunned.

First time I checked his music was after that visit of Jay-Z, Beyonce, and friends, I was stunned.

What kind of example is setting for his little girls and their friends.

No wonder Obama said he wanted a shotgun when his girls start dating.

    Clearly means Romney is winning

BTW – where is all this money Romney has raised?

I see nothing but Obama ads. Never an ad for Romney.
