I've been watching a lot of the Tea Party videos. It's been inspiring and heartwarming. I'm struck by the reality that many Americans at the Tea Party probably haven't EVER been to a public protest but were compelled to do so for the good of America. They are deeply worried about losing the America we all know and love, that we are straying from the Constitution. You can hear the emotion in their voices. Here's a great example: (Warning: May contain terrorists. LOL) http://www.romenews-tribune.com/pages/full_story?article-Rome%20joins%20national%20tea%20party%20=&page_label=results_content&id=2321475-Rome+joins+national+tea+party&widget=push&open=&

One of the best Tea Party signs that I've seen today: "If you want to stop 1984, you need some 1776."

God bless America!

Imagine the numbers that would have shown up if rather than commentators and bloggers, we had the full force of the mainstream media to promote our events. Like they promoted Obama's campaign appearances and his Chicago victory party. Oh yeah, that wasn't "whipping up" support for Obama, that was just "reporting the news".

Our local rag called the group protesting at our State House a "motley crew", which pretty well summed up their attitude towards the tea parties in general. They had to share space with the pro-gay marriage protest group, which naturally got more sympathetic (and more extensive) coverage. However, they did also get a tour of the State House's brand new bathroom, expensively redone, much to the dismay of some of the Democrat representatives, who probably ordered it disinfected after everyone left.

"The group I traveled with had NEVER been involved in any protests. They are fed up and will note that when it comes time to vote."

-- So which crook are you going to vote for? The one with the R or D in front of their name?

"Further.. I will stop short of advocating any violence."

-- Power will NOT be given up without violence. Call me a right wing radical all you want. I will not start the fight but I wont back down. Remember Jefferson:

"God forbid we should ever be twenty years without such a rebellion.
The people cannot be all, and always, well informed. The part which is
wrong will be discontented, in proportion to the importance of the facts
they misconceive. If they remain quiet under such misconceptions,
it is lethargy, the forerunner of death to the public liberty. ...
And what country can preserve its liberties, if it's rulers are not
warned from time to time, that this people preserve the spirit of
resistance? Let them take arms. The remedy is to set them right as
to the facts, pardon and pacify them. What signify a few lives lost
in a century or two? The tree of liberty must be refreshed from
time to time, with the blood of patriots and tyrants.
It is its natural manure."

Tea Parties are a step short of being run over by a tank in Tienanmen Square. Our government is just using the tax burden to squash us and not tanks.....yet. Either way they are not and will not listen to us. Unless you are a big time lobbyist!

I must respectfully disagree. (to bigbad)

The group I traveled with had NEVER been involved in any protests. They are fed up and will note that when it comes time to vote.

Further.. I will stop short of advocating any violence. If there comes a time where I EVER have to defend myself I am truly ready you can be sure, but I don't believe it will be necessary in my lifetime. Also, Obey the law, even if you disagree, be vocally against, but do NOT put yourself in a position to be singled out as a "criminal."

"I will obey their laws, but will not give them the benevolence of my endorsement for them"

gotta start somewhere BigBad.

Traditionally, representatives have responded to protests in this country.

I agree with your sceptism that assembly alone will work this time, given the criminality and blood-lust for power of the people in power, but starting with calm and mildly humorous protests is probably better than rushing the ramparts on day 1. That way, people who aren't yet aware of the extremism we face are more likely to listen and join the movement.

In my view, the Tea Parties are a good first step, but leaders now have to adamently point out that it is about far more than protesting taxes. See this for how I think the issue would be better framed

Im sorry but these Tea Parties are a joke. Peaceful protests are not going to do ANYHING anymore. The government is WAY too large and powerful at this point. The only thing that would reverse any of this is blood, a real revolution. Buying(LOL) some tea and throwing it is just retarded. The real Boston Tea Party had actual destruction of property. You know a REAL protest.

On tax day a real protest would be hundreds of thousands NOT FILING taxes. The best thing the U.S. government did to maintain power was to enact with holding. If that didn't exist we could all tell the government to kiss our azz on the 15th of April every year when we don't approve of their spending.

I chartered a BUS to the Lansing event and dished out the $1200 to do so.

When I did this, I didnt have ONE SINGLE PASSENGER guaranteed. (other than myself.)

I easily found 30 people to dish out $30 for he ride from Traverse City to Lansing and those who came were genuinely concerned I did not have enough to cover it all, and volunteered to help with any shortfall.

Yeah... Right... greedy self centered capitalists were this bunch....

That bus took us to a rally of some great people 5000 strong. All merely concerned that their rights are being sorely abridged by an over reaching overly aggressive government. ..and that folks, earned them a label of "terrorists;" something even the "terrorists" aren't being called by the government any longer.

Irony, can sometimes be bitter indeed.

I was at the rally in Atlanta last night... absolutely amazing! And yes, there were probably closer to 20,000 people there (trying to get home was certainly proof of that!). John Rich said something rather interesting. Obama promised to "unite" this country and reach across every divide to bring the people together for a common cause... and it worked yesterday - just not quite the way he intended

I just finished reading the U.S. Department of Homeland Security - Assessment - Rightwing Extremism: Current Economic and Political Climate Fueling Resurgence in Radicalization and Recruitment.

Boy is the Obama administration scared. Let's see, during the Bush administration if you spoke out against George Bush or the Iraq war or torture or on and on and on with any of the positions that were taken...your disent was deemed, ready for this, PATRIOTIC. But, now, if you speak out against the Obama administration and bloated federal government you are, (cue sinister music soundbite) a TERRORIST. Yes ladies and gentleman the chasm between the country is widening. While some pundits say this report is only for the KKK and Arians of the world the language is such that anyone who disagrees with Obama policy is a Rightwing Extremist.

Yesterdays peacefull protest falls in sharp contrast to anti war demonstrations of the last few years. Not just in the way the people behaved or the numbers of attendees but the way the media portray them. Had this been a Code Pink ralley or an anti war ralley the MM would have been soooo sympathetic and coverage would have been over the top. Trouble is the "anti-everything american" crowd are hard pressed to pull together anything of that magnitude. There are just not that many people passionate about there cause. They themselves aren't even that passionate about their cause because the war is still being waged. Proof of this is; when was the last time you saw an anti-war protest ralley. You haven't, because they were really just Anti-Bush ralleys wrapped up in the war for effect. A protest now would put their Messiah in a bad light and then they would be considered extreme by Homeland Security. Gasp!

So your writer, here, is labled a TERRORIST by his government because he has more than no guns and more than no bullets to put in them. He is also a TERRORIST because of his belief that Illegal entry into this country should be, Illegal. Imagine that. He is also a TERRORIST because he believes a baby should be born without scissors being jammed into the back of it's head. How radical of me. He is a TERRORIST because he believes the real terrorists of the world are Islamic. He is a TERRORIST because he believes that federal government had overstepped it's authority. (I thought this during the Bush and Clinton administrations as well.) All of these positions are pointed out in the DHS document as Rightwing and Extreme.

So I am a TERRORIST? But an Iranian who shoots and kills one of our military men or women in Iraq is a FREEDOM FIGHTER or at the most an INSURGENT. Well folks get ready for what I believe is going to be a massive civil revolt. I say this because I and a lot of other people who are willing to peaceably have their voice heard, as was seen yestersday, in opposition to Socialism/Marxism taking over our country are not going to sit idley by while renegade politicians erode what made our country great. I am sure that the sissy left will be more than willing to have the military use the guns they themselves won't own used on those of us who think our country does not need to be CHANGED. After more than two hundred years of this countries greatness, history is about to repeat itself with the populace standing up to the people that want to govern outside of our Constitution and change this country into something else.

The Democrat party, who is in total power in Washington, believe that anyone that is not in agreement with their agenda are TERRORISTS better wise up. They don't run the country. The last time I looked, this country was founded by, for and of the people. Not by, for and of the politicians. These power grabbers are completley out of control, in size, scope and power. They have interpreted their position of service to our country as something other than it really is and it is time for the people to take back control of our country from these usurpers of power.

So, come 2010 I expect that the lame who voted for Obama and all his followers will not even show up because they won't have any more of a clue then as they did when the cast a vote for a slogan. They didn't in 2008 and they certainly won't have a clue in 2010. The dunces that left their Conservative roots and voted for the One already have had their eyes opened. And I doubt the media will be allowed to pick the candidate again. Make no mistake. I do not any longer consider myself a Republican. In my eyes that party has corrupted itself and the politicians in that party are equally to blame as their twin brothers in the Democrat party. I am proud to be a Conservative. But that does not make me a TERRORIST as the DHS wants the foolish to believe.

So Janet, call me what you want. I call myself an AMERICAN CITIZEN. One who is willing to fight for my country...the one we have had and has served us quite well for over 200 years.

Had this been a Code Pink ralley or an anti war ralley the MM would have been soooo sympathetic and coverage would have been over the top. Trouble is the “anti-everything american” crowd are hard pressed to pull together anything of that magnitude. There are just not that many people passionate about there cause. They themselves aren’t even that passionate about their cause because the war is still being waged. Proof of this is; when was the last time you saw an anti-war protest ralley. You haven’t, because they were really just Anti-Bush ralleys wrapped up in the war for effect.

He is also a TERRORIST because he believes a baby should be born without scissors being jammed into the back of it’s head. How radical of me. He is a TERRORIST because he believes the real terrorists of the world are Islamic. He is a TERRORIST because he believes that federal government had overstepped it’s authority.

I am sure that the sissy left will be more than willing to have the military use the guns they themselves won’t own used on those of us who think our country does not need to be CHANGED.

They don’t run the country. The last time I looked, this country was founded by, for and of the people. Not by, for and of the politicians. These power grabbers are completley out of control, in size, scope and power. They have interpreted their position of service to our country as something other than it really is and it is time for the people to take back control of our country from these usurpers of power.

So, come 2010 I expect that the lame who voted for Obama and all his followers will not even show up because they won’t have any more of a clue then as they did when the cast a vote for a slogan. They didn’t in 2008 and they certainly won’t have a clue in 2010.

One who is willing to fight for my country…the one we have had and has served us quite well for over 200 years.

Many reports of thousands of attendees at rallies around the country. 10-20K in Atlanta alone. Many other big rallies with attendance over 5K. Rallies in every state.

Total attendance was probably 500,000 to 1 million.

That's not a minor event. That's not a small movement. That's not a few disguntled far-right radicals.

That's America..........waking up from the nightmare.
