AP: Yemeni On Flight Has No Terrorism Ties

From the always quick to reassure Associated Press:

Suspect on flight had no known ties to terrorism

May 9, 2011

SAN FRANCISCO – Police say a man who pounded on the cockpit door as an American Airlines flight approached San Francisco has no clear or known ties to terrorism.

San Francisco police Sgt. Michael Rodriguez tells the San Francisco Chronicle that authorities have not yet established a motive for why 28-year-old Rageit [sic] Almurisi got up from his seat and went toward the cockpit door 10 minutes before the flight was supposed to land Sunday evening…

‘Sudden jihad syndrome’?

Crew members and passengers wrestled a man to the cabin floor after he began pounding on the cockpit as an American Airlines flight approached San Francisco, the third security incident in a day on U.S. planes, authorities said Monday.

The man, who had a Yemeni passport, was yelling unintelligibly as he brushed past a flight attendant about 10 minutes before American Airlines Flight 1561 was due at San Francisco International Airport Sunday night, Sgt. Michael Rodriguez of the San Francisco police said.

A male flight attendant tackled the suspect, and other crew members and a couple of passengers aided as the suspect banged on the cockpit door.

"They were able to get him to ground and a flight attendant put him in plastic handcuffs," Rodriguez told The Associated Press.

It looks like we are saving money on federal air marshals again.

The Boeing 737 carrying 162 people landed safely at 9:10 p.m. and the man was taken into police custody… He was identified as Rageit Almurisi, 28. Though he carried a Yemen passport, it wasn’t clear if his nationality was also Yemeni, Rodriguez said.

Mr. Almurisi will probably not only be released without charges, but he will probably be made an American citizen for his troubles.

Almurisi was charged with interfering with a flight crew, a federal offense. No motive has been established and the officer said he had no information when asked if the disturbance was linked to terrorism.

During the scuffle, Almurisi sustained some bruises and was checked at a hospital before being transported to San Mateo County Jail, the officer said

Here come the lawsuits.

It was the third disturbance of the day in U.S. airspace.

A Continental Airlines flight from Houston to Chicago diverted in St. Louis after a 34-year-old man from Illinois tried to open a plane door during the flight, officials said…

FBI and airport police questioned the passenger. No charges have been filed.

Of course not.

Shortly before that, a Delta Air Lines flight from Detroit to San Diego was landed instead in Albuquerque, N.M., because of a security scare but authorities found "no suspicious devices" on the plane, an FBI spokesman said.

Agency spokesman Frank Fisher declined to clarify the nature of the "potential security threat" that caused Flight 1706 to land in New Mexico. He said agents searched the plane and interviewed the crew and 107 passengers before clearing the aircraft to fly again.

Albuquerque International Sunport spokesman Daniel Jiron also declined to say what the potential threat was. No one was arrested.

Of course not. After all, time and jet fuel is cheap. And people like an exciting plane ride.

By the way, aren’t all of these victories for terrorism? Aren’t we being terrorized?

The muslims behind this aren’t concerned with whether or not any charges will be filed. What they care about is the response and how quickly their willing lackey was taken down and how; Was he able to get to the cockpit door and how long he was able to stay there. This is a fact-finding event, engineered by terrorists to be able to assemble some sort of attack force to bring down more airliners and fly into more buildings.

That it happened on an SFO-bound flight tells me that the flaming supporters in “Let’s all get along” town have been ineffective in their message of peace and kindness (oh, and “tolerance”) to the muslim “community”. As has been said all along, they hate all of us…not just the bitter clingers but the earth-huggers too. Perhaps especially them since they don’t really seem to have anything to really believe in that isn’t crap. Hell, at least even a mentally deficient weekend jihadist has more chutzpah than a self-professed, hypocritical saver of gaia.

However, he needs to be held, waterboarded, found out where his operative base is, who his bosses are and then thrown in a cell for the rest of his life.

    Or…not.

That was my first thought too Rusty. He probably gleaned some useful information by this stunt. At the very least these incidents rattle the American public, maybe that is the point. Divert attention to the obvious scenarios while something else happens in less secured areas. By feigning insanity the man removes himself from the possibility of criminal prosecution. Yemen is the birth place of Osama Bin Laden’s fifth wife, whom he married when she was around 14/15 and he was in his 40s. It is a hot bed for terrorism.

There is also the possibility that the Yemeni man is just insane, that he took a flight just after Osama Bin Laden was killed and randomly went nuts after many months of normal flights. But not likely.

You’re all obviously reading too much into this. The poor man was obviously asleep and he awoke disoriented and thought he missed his stop so he was banging on the door to get the pilot’s attention. A simple enough explanation at least that’s probably what his lawyer will say. (sarcasm off now)

Rusty, you’re one hundred percent spot on. They are probing and something is going to happen probably in the not too distant future. The sand people are upset over OBL going to meet Satan and they want their revenge.

The red flag always goes up with me when the authorities say there are no ties to terrorism. Really? They know that immediately after the incident without any investigation. Yeah, sure, and I have some ocean front property in Arizona I’ll sell ya real cheap.

  3. oldpuppydixie says:

So the guy was “yelling unintelligibly??” I guess that means no one else on the plane spoke Arabic.

  4. canary says:

News reporting the man screamed allah akbarah repeatedly as he pounded cockpit door. Video shows glimpse of man who tried to open airplane door during flight. Both flights had Chicago connections.

who is the nutty lady saying there was not one bit of chaos?
The steward that tackled him asking passengers for help?
    why no stun guns

DailyMail.co.uk.: May 9 2011 Air steward tackles Yemeni passenger battering on cockpit as aeroplane comes in to land at San Francisco

A 34-year-old Illinois man went berserk aboard Continental Airlines Boeing 737 from Houston to Chicago and tried to open the door at 35,000ft, but Vietnam veteran and martial arts expert tackled him from behind.

He said: ‘He just pushed her right over, so he assaulted her. Well at that time I’m already in motion.

‘What I did was I just jumped on him,I wrapped my legs around him, I put my 210 pounds of weight on his neck and he still wouldn’t go down.’

Eventually Mr Harris managed to subdue the passenger using a choke-hold. He then sat next to him until the plane landed in St. Louis.

After he had got the situation under control the other passengers gave him a round of applause and offered to buy him a drink.

Mr Harris added: ‘I asked him, ‘What in the hell were you doing? What were you thinking?’ He said, ‘Well, it’s Mother’s Day’.

‘Well, it’s Christmas and this was the cheapest flight I could get to the U.S.’

  5. Chase says:

The same goes for the two nutjob clerics flying from Memphis the other day. Wearing their robes and non-assimilated clothing just to stick a finger in the eye of the airlines, to test the waters, and to batter down flight crews who might object intuitively, repress them with law suits, and generally try to create repressed outspokenness, indifference or complacency among those trained to be on the lookout.

  6. Not so fast says:

Did anyone “Touch” his private parts after the landing? TSA, ICE, FBI? Or do they just save sexual assault for the general population? Inquiring minds would like to know.

  7. canary says:

Well, now that airline can explain why they took those two muslims with poor and no English language skills.
Obama had a high-alert global travel order. Bet they were going to a convention to pray for OBL.
How the heck can a muslim who can’t speak English go to a convention meant to teach Americans to understand them.
