AZ’s ‘Sherriff Joe’ Subpoenas ACORN

From Arizona’s East Valley Tribune:

Arpaio subpoenas ACORN, says funds misused

By Gary Grado
September 17, 2009

Maricopa County Sheriff Joe Arpaio alleged Thursday that a national community activist organization is using federal and state funds to fight his efforts to enforce immigration law.

Arpaio sent subpoenas to the local chapter and national headquarters of the Association of Community Organizations for Reform Now, or ACORN, asking for a wide array of records he says will connect the organization to a racial profiling lawsuit he is challenging in federal court.

That lawsuit was filed by the immigrant advocacy group Somos America and five Latinos, all of whom are U.S. citizens or are in the country legally, according to the suit.

They allege that Arpaio’s deputies singled them out because of their skin color and that the agency has a policy, pattern and practice of racially profiling Latinos, especially during “crime suppression sweeps.”

ACORN has been under fire recently after secret video revealed employees advising a pair posing as a pimp and prostitute to break tax laws and open a brothel for under-aged girls.

The left-leaning group is also under scrutiny for several voter-fraud cases.

ACORN’s local office did not immediately return a call seeking comment.

Yet another reason to love ‘Sherriff Joe.’

  1. Confucius

    Arpaio for President!

  2. The sheriff should be considered as the next Attorney General of the United States, as soon as the present administration is voted out in 3 years of course. Then again, I wonder if Barack Obama would consider hiring Sheriff Joe as a replacement for Eric Holder? LOL !

One of the pleasures of working in the sewer called the legal system is the authority to sit peoples’ fat butts down in a chair and then ask annoying, intrusive, and embarrassing personal questions.

One of the joys is that they have to answer those questions or go to jail.

    Way to go, sheriff pitbull!

    Ah Ha! Hedley Lemare’s next!

ACORN should just skip any pretense of ‘Reform’ and change their acronym to:

    A-CON

Can we get pictures of future ACORN convicts wearong Maricopa County’s pink jumpsuit jail clothes?

    Joe Rules!

I agree, Confucius. Has anyone asked Joe if he is busy in 2012?

And he is nature friendly. He saves on energy, and has the prisoners to environment and human friendly work, growing food, contributing to society, and giving inmates the chance to work with their hands and learn skills, to make their lives better when they get back to Mexico.

    God bless Sheriff Joe.

This is great news, but it’s like water boarding; don’t let them up til the bubbles stop.

He was even willing to take Gitmo prisoners. He had some famous athlete, and was treated well. But, you see Obama is in a league where they are proud of breaking the law, and being rebellious, and wishing they’d done more damage, as in Rodney King riot, when rioters went after innocent people, smashing their heads, and busting and looting stores. Obama just takes after his father’s side of the family. Mean Bullies.
