Assange Calls Rape Charges ‘Dirty Tricks’

From his fans at the UK’s Guardian:

Rape warrant against Wikileaks founder Julian Assange cancelled

Swedish authorities withdraw an arrest warrant for the founder of the whistleblowers’ website on suspicion of rape

Saturday 21 August 2010

Swedish authorities have withdrawn an arrest warrant for Wikileaks founder Julian Assange, stating that the accusation of rape against him was unfounded.

The move came just a day after a warrant was issued by Sweden’s prosecutors’ office in Stockholm in response to accusations of rape and molestation in two separate cases.

"I don’t think there is reason to suspect that he has committed rape," the chief prosecutor, Eva Finne, said.

She made no comment on the status of the molestation case, a less serious charge that would not lead to an arrest warrant.

Assange has denied both accusations, first reported by the Swedish tabloid Expressen, which were described as dirty tricks on the Wikileaks’ Twitter account.

He implied that they were linked to the release by the whistleblowers’ website of a huge cache of US military records on the Afghan war, which were published in collaboration with the Guardian and two other newspapers.

Assange wrote: "The charges are without basis and their issue at this moment is deeply disturbing."

Earlier postings on the Twitter account implied the accusations were part of a dirty tricks campaign against the Wikileaks founder, who has been strongly criticised by the Pentagon.

"Expressen is a tabloid; No one here has been contacted by Swedish police. Needless to say, this will prove hugely distracting.

"We were warned to expect ‘dirty tricks’. Now we have the first one."

Who knew that tabloids could get arrest warrants issued?

  Update!

It looks like Mr. Assange might not be entirely off the hook just yet. From his besotted fans at the Associated Press:

Sweden withdraws warrant for WikiLeaks founder

STOCKHOLM — Swedish authorities revoked a short-lived arrest warrant for the founder of WikiLeaks on Saturday, saying a rape accusation against him lacked substance.

Julian Assange, who was believed to be in Sweden, remained under suspicion of a lesser crime of molestation in a separate case, prosecutors said

A Stockholm prosecutor issued the arrest warrant on Friday, saying Assange was suspected of rape and molestation in two separate cases. But chief prosecutor Eva Finne withdrew the warrant within 24 hours.

"I don’t think there is reason to suspect that he has committed rape," Finne said in a brief statement.

Karin Rosander, a spokeswoman for the Swedish Prosecution Authority, said Assange remains suspected of molestation, a less serious charge that would not lead to an arrest warrant.

"The prosecutor hasn’t made a decision" on that count, Rosander told The Associated Press. "The investigation continues."

Molestation covers a wide of range of offenses under Swedish law, result in fines or up to one year in prison

A WikiLeaks spokesman, who says he goes by the name Daniel Schmitt in order to protect his identity, told AP in a telephone interview from Iceland that the "extremely serious allegations" came as a complete surprise…

Of course if there were any real justice in the world, Mr. Assange would be arrested as an accessory to murder

As surely many will die thanks to the information he has promulgated on the internet.

STOCKHOLM – Swedish prosecutors withdrew an arrest warrant for the founder of WikiLeaks on Saturday, saying less than a day after the document was issued that it was based on an unfounded accusation of rape.

They said that for the moment Julian Assange remains suspected of the lesser crime of molestation in a separate case.

Assange had dismissed the allegations in a statement on WikiLeaks’ Twitter page, saying “the charges are without basis and their issue at this moment is deeply disturbing.” …

Assange has no permanent address and travels frequently — jumping from one friend’s place to the next. He disappears from public view for months at a time, only to reappear in the full glare of the cameras at packed news conferences to discuss his site’s latest disclosure.

Assange declined to talk about his background at a news conference in Stockholm a week ago. Equally secretive is the small team behind WikiLeaks, reportedly just a half-dozen people and casual volunteers who offer their services as needed. …

Assange was in Sweden partly to apply for a publishing certificate to make sure the website, which has servers in Sweden, can take full advantage of Swedish laws protecting whistle-blowers. …
    report.

That in itself is very telling.

If anyone knew what dirty tricks are……….sausage boy should.

Having seen a picture of Assange, I wonder if the charge was filed by a guy or a girl?

  4. Hmm.

A rat fink, terd sucking basterd who makes his living from dirty tricks complaining about dirty tricks?

    Maestro. A lil schadenfreude, please.

I truly think that liberals are mentally ill – they have such a deep seated desire to scream Look At Me – while forgetting the crime, dirty trick or outright lies they just spewed – and then cry foul when they are exposed – after screaming for exposure.

It’s your fault Assange – you put yourself out there onto the World stage committing a dirty trick (possibly treason) and then when your past dirty ‘tricks’ catch up – you can’t handle it.

So typical of liberals dish it out and yet can’t take it.

Spawn of the sludgiest gutters of the internet itself. People say don’t judge a book by a cover, but this one wasn’t even a challenge.

As a matter of curiosity, Assange’s peroxide white hair and other features are strikingly in harmony with the “children” of Australia’s most notorious cult leader, Anne Hamilton-Byrne, with whom his step-father was a member (his mother left the sperm donor when he was 8).

And by “children,” well, according to Australian News:

Police later found 14 children had been brought up in almost complete isolation believing they were the offspring of Hamilton-Byrne and her late husband Bill.

In fact none of them was Hamilton-Byrnes’, but children of single mothers who had been pressured into giving them up for adoption [uh, what?] or cult members who did not want them.

But it was the way the children had been treated that really shocked the nation.

Hamilton-Byrne had ordered the children’s hair be dyed peroxide blonde and they be dressed in identical outfits. It was also alleged they had been half-starved, beaten and forced to take large quantities of tranquilisers to “calm them down” and even fed LSD when they became adults.

    Picture

Assange’s mother went into hiding for 5 years starting in 1982 after splitting from the cult and the step-father, putting Julian at 11-12, probably of age to have been preyed upon and heavily influenced.

Who knows if he’s in cahoots with the grand cabal, or just a nerdy useful idiot idealist with lots and lots of self-pity & rage boiling underneath a permafried moral compass.

Molestors first were usually victims, sadly.

I would say he’s expressing his rage by molesting a lot more than an occasional boy or girl.

Like Drooling Barney, he has found a way to get back at the world in a MAJOR way.

I’m telling ya, the anger that many of these libwits are infested with, as expressed through the pain they manage to inflict on millions, is way way beyond political ideology. For this creep, Franks and many others its real personal. They have harbored that hatred for decades by the time they reach a position where they can act on it. In that respect, they are as insane as Hitler was. And I think it’s a much bigger influence on politics than anybody will admit.

Obama may be another example. I’ve always thought that he is channeling enormous rage at being abandoned by his father and his mother, and because he is in between so many worlds: nationalities, religions, ethnicity, and sexualty. That’s a powerful mixture to create anger in a person. Once in a while you can see some seep out. And when you see the utter dispassion he has for trajedies like the Gulf oil spill, and the Tennessee flood, he just doesn’t seem like a normal human being.

Rape? Of a woman? I don’t think so. This guy is obviously…uh….like the president.

  8. TerryAnne says:

Everytime I see his picture, my gaydar (ability to tell a gay from a straight by sight alone) goes berserk. No way he molested or raped a woman/girl. Young boys or teenage boys, yes, but definitely not anything with a va-jay-jay.
