WikiLeaks founder Julian Assange arrested in Britain

LONDON (Reuters) – WikiLeaks founder Julian Assange handed himself in to British police on Tuesday after Sweden issued a warrant for his arrest over allegations of sex crimes, London’s Metropolitan Police said.

Assange, whose WikiLeaks website is at the center of a row over the release of secret U.S. diplomatic cables, was arrested under a European Arrest Warrant…

We have to wonder why Mr. Assange was allowed to be a liberty for so long, since the police supposedly knew exactly where he was during his entire stay in the UK.

Assange is due to appear before City of Westminster Magistrates’ Court in London later on Tuesday when a date for an extradition hearing is likely to be set. This must take place within 21 days of his arrest.

"He is accused by the Swedish authorities of one count of unlawful coercion, two counts of sexual molestation and one count of rape, all alleged to have been committed in August 2010," London police said in a statement…

Police said Assange was arrested by officers from its extradition unit at about 9.30 a.m. (0930 GMT) after he appeared by appointment at a London police station

If a judge is satisfied his extradition is warranted and will not breach his human rights, then he will order the WikiLeaks founder to be extradited, although Assange can appeal against that decision to higher courts.

Assange’s Swedish lawyer has said his client would fight any extradition and believed foreign powers were influencing Sweden

Because otherwise Sweden wouldn’t prosecute people for rape.

So it turns out Julian Assange’s warrant for “sexual assault” is actually for “consensual sex without a condom”.

    Wait, what?

    • Douglas says:

If she said “not without a condom” and he continued, then it is non-consensual and considered rape in many states in the US just like it is in Sweden.

    • GetBackJack says:

      Key word … consensual.

This actually strikes as to how far we’ve fallen when a sitting administration leans on another nation to do our bidding and this is the best charge we can pin on our target.

Good lord, this is limper than Dick Gephardt’s chances at the Oval Office.

    • proreason says:

She must be a prostitute. Who else would do it with the guy?

  2. BigOil says:

Looks a lot like arresting Al Capone for tax evasion.

    • hushpuppy says:

Yup, it does. But the important thing was that Capone was tossed into the slammer.

As for that limp-wristed fairy, Assange? As long as that treasonous little puke goes to jail and has Bubba for a bunkmate I don’t care if he gets done for rape or something specific under the espionage act 1917.

If it turns out that he did indeed molest some little boys, then I agree with a retired military blogger (on another site) that one round (of ammunition) to his head would solve the problem once and for all.

  3. Right of the People says:

With a condom, without a condom anyway you slice it, a woman would have to be drunk, blind, very hard up or being paid or any combination of to do it with this butt pirate.

Maybe while he’s in the nick, he can experience what sex without a condom is like with some big, hairy tosser. Bet he won’t walk straight for a week.

  4. Chuckk says:

I am shocked that Asssange had sex with women.
