Axelrod: Fox News Is Not Really News

From the Politico:

Axelrod: Fox ‘not really news’

By: Mike Allen
October 18, 2009

White House senior adviser David Axelrod said Sunday that the Fox News Channel is "not really a news station" and that much of the programming is "not really news."

"I’m not concerned," Axelrod said on ABC’s "This Week" when George Stephanopoulos asked about the back-and-forth between the White House and Fox News.

"Mr. [Rupert] Murdoch has a talent for making money, and I understand that their programming is geared toward making money. The only argument [White House communications director] Anita [Dunn] was making is that they’re not really a news station if you watch even — it’s not just their commentators, but a lot of their news programming.

"It’s really not news — it’s pushing a point of view. And the bigger thing is that other news organizations like yours ought not to treat them that way, and we’re not going to treat them that way. We’re going to appear on their shows. We’re going to participate but understanding that they represent a point of view.” …

Well, to be fair, this is not really an ‘administration,’ at least not in the traditional sense of the term.

That is, it does not represent the nation, as administrations are supposed to do.

Instead, it is a collection of community agitators and thugs, like Mr. Axelrod, who are trying to ram through a radical leftwing political agenda.

But, man alive, how the Obama-ites hate people who make money.

(Except of course their master, Mr. Soros.)

If only Mr. Murdoch would bring his business savvy to the DC clown posse.
These bozos don’t know how to rub two coins together but they sure as hell know how to rob the citizens of personal wealth and Freedom of Choice w/o a gun …… for now!

  2. pianogirl88 says:

And Zippy is just pretending to be the potus, too.
Looking forward to November 2010, followed by November 2012!

  3. VMAN says:

That is rich Axlerod making that statement on an opinion show.

  4. ptat says:

And, of course, the rest of the media have no interest in making money, David. As evidenced by the way they suck up to your corrupt, unrepresentative administration. they are losing viewers daily…..especially by ignoring the truth.

  5. canary says:

Such as the liberals childish news, aside footage of Anita Dunn telling high schoolars she consistantly looks to her idol mass murderer & communist Mao Tse Tung news,

CNN NEWS: What the Obama’s wear fashion, (using photo’s technology to see how she would look in something else. Larry King’s celebrities movie stars, Cooper’s shows focus on animals, and the choosing of one or two crimes saga’s they rehash for years. Coopers trips to visit animals.

  6. canary says:

Obama wrote that Hannity, Rush, etc. don’t get under his skin, his wife can testify to it. Hopefully, Obama’s admits his “party” tends to be
more “smug, detached, dogmatic,…”. I’m just not sure what “party” he means. The Democrats or the Socialist Marxist Party. Either fits the bill.

  7. Ravenwood says:

Soon we will see new guidelines from the government stating what exactly can be considered a ‘news’ organization. All non-news organizations(read: non-leftist) will be subject to some onerous new regulations such as equal time for ‘other points of view’, or maybe a diversity czar will be appointed to okay what stories they can legally report on and how much reporting per story, etc.

And thus driving the real news media offshore or underground. Which won’t bother me in the least because it will prove the point to many that this administration is doing its level best to undermine our society.

I am seeing glimpses of hope, however, as evidenced by many postings in American Thinker.

Hopefully, the truth in this nation still has the chance to be heard clearly as opposed to the custom-made-to-order drivel that the MSM “provides”.

It gives me great pleasure to find that many newspapers are going broke and that the viewership of the MSM is diminishing.

Lets hope it continues. And, interestingly, the left’s latest bash on Rush has probably given him the biggest listener boost in his broadcast career because as many people who THINK they don’t like him, KNOW they really don’t like Jesse and Al even more.

      Funny thing about truth, that.

    • neocon mom says:

This is ominous–not “news” because they are critical.

Didn’t a Pew study confirm that Fox had the most balanced election coverage, while MSNBC had the most biased coverage? Of course a real political journalist, not an ex-Clinton hack might point that out and really “speak truth to power” as the libs were so fond of saying during W’s administration.

That Axelrod could get away with saying such a thing on a Sunday morning talkie, which are supposed to be where the most searing, sweat-inducing Q & As take place is precisely why I don’t bother watching anymore.

  8. proreason says:

    Fox is winning.

The criminal clowns are being exposed for what they are.

    Murdoch, Beck, Hannity, Breitbart…..heroes.

Rush, Laura, Levin, many more….the reincarnation of the Founding Fathers.

    O’Reilly….naked ego on steroids.

    God bless them all.

  9. jrmcdonald says:

If he had been on Fox, someone may have heard him!

  10. Laree says:

Where are the jobs Mr Axelrod? What is being done about the sinking dollar Mr Axelrod? What is the President going to do about Afghanistan Mr Axelrod? When can we expect private sector job growth? When is that stimulus you all had to have passed, going to show results? When are home and commercial foreclosures going to go down? When is the credit market going to loosen up? When will American prosperity return? When was the last time the President of the United States said anything positive to the American people about the American people? I mean I know AG Eric Holder, thinks we are a nation of cowards…how about it Mr President?

Fox News has no control over any of these issues all they can do is report on them….so why attack a news outlet?
Today Fox News has been going on and on with the Balloon Boy Coverage so has CNN. I see little difference between the two? Neither seem to care about reporting on actual issues – that personally effect AMERICANS, like out of work Americans -Taxpaying,Voting Americans. DHS hostility to The Sheriff of Maricopa, Arizona, who is trying to protect his citizens, and by extension all American Citizens by the expansion of Mexican Drug Cartels and their many violent practices. What happens to us when our dollar collapses?

But by all means Mr Axelrod whine about Fox News. You were simpering……

    • ptat says:

Yes, and where are the prosecutions and arrests for the collapse of the economy less than a year ago?

  11. Paul says:

Just as Chris Wallace said, this is the biggest bunch of crybabies we have ever seen. It’s sad to watch them whine and squirm about the “vast right wing conspiracy” that doesn’t exist while they sit on their hands and watch our economy be destroyed.

    • proreason says:

They aren’t sitting on their hands and watching.

They are actively destroying the economy.

      The evidence is manifest.
      – The entire “stimulus” is going to political payoffs.
      – They could create tons of jobs with tax cuts. This has been proven numerous times. They won’t do it.
      – The cap and tax bill will kill about a million more jobs, according to several analysts.
      – Drilling would create tens of thousands of high-paid jobs. They won’t do it.
      – Health Scare is also a job killer. Not just in the industry. It will spread through the entire economy.
      – Every government job kills of multiple public sector jobs. That is what they “create” because those people will vote Democratic.
      – Raising the minimum wage also is known to reduce jobs.
      – and more

They want the economy to do poorly so they can take more of it over.

They are power-mad “ists” fascists/communists/socialists/statists/monarchists. They only care about power, not a hoot about the people.

    • ptat says:

Madoff got busted, but where are the arrests of those responsible for the economic meltdown that “coincidentally” won Obama the presidency?

  12. In the last 10 days Obama was awarded the Nobel Peace Prize.

Congress’s CBO announced that Obamacare was going to be a 50 billion surplus.

Olympia Snowe voted with the Dems making the bill bipartisan.

    The NYSE went over 10,000.

There was positive growth in the third quarter – recession ended.

30,000 plus jobs were created by the Stimulus package.

Obama is personally sending each senior a $250 check.

John Kerry is over in Afghanistan rallying the troops.

FOX was attacked by an Obama’s communications director, Anita Dunn.

Tom Delay was made to look like a fool and dumped on Dancing with the Stars.

Rush was libeled and booted from the Ram’s buyers group.

    Balloon boy was found safe.

But Obama’s approval rating still dropped below 50% for the first time!

Dick Morris had predicted a 4 to 5 point bump.

Axelrod – keep up the good work!

  13. crosspatch says:

I think they misunderstood him when he said that the stuff reported on Fox wasn’t news to him.

  14. joeblough says:

    Axelrod: Fox ‘not really news’

    Nietzsche: ‘God doesn’t exist’

    God : ‘Nietzsche doesn’t exist’

And as for me, I say Axelrod is a transparent dipsh*t.

  15. BillK says:

Coming soon: Freedom of the Press will be found to apply only to the actual news media, as defined by the Government, of course.

    • Flession says:

Which basically means any news organization that is a owned by a company who gives campaign money to El Presidente.

So you are wrong, Steve: It’s not just Soros-money. It’s any money that benefits them :P

  16. Laree says:

The Cable News Wars, will be televised just not on any network anyone watches:)

This morning Lou Dobbs canceled on Imus In The Morning, because CNN would not let him appear. The Reporter Boycott of Fox News Networks. Video FBN below.

Here is the thing if CNN and MSNBC folks don’t show up on Fox Networks, I won’t be watching them at all. So how is this helping those network’s ratings? Oh I guess I will watch inferior DNC propaganda channel/sarc. The reason people are not watching now is because they know that CNN, and MSNBC are nothing more than Democrat Party Arms. I already don’t watch MSNBC ,the only thing I WAS watching was Lou Dobbs on CNN.

Imus has already beat CNBC’s in the ratings, and FBN is on half the carriage. MSNBC and CNN are worried about Imus’s ratings on FBN but it wasn’t their on air talent that drives his ratings….gonna miss you Lou but this is what happens when you work for the CommunistCollectiveNetwork.

    Video from FBN

Beck has more viewers at 5 pm than MSlsd has for all of prime time….and most of those viewers are administration officials.

  17. Laree says:

Okay Craig Crawford and Helen Thomas tell the Obama Administration What A Bad Idea This IS. VIDEO.
