Biden Campaign Has To Re-Pay $219,000

From an amazingly forgiving Associated Press:

Biden’s 2008 campaign told: Pay $219K to Treasury

July 17, 2010

WASHINGTON — Election watchdogs have directed Joe Biden’s 2008 presidential campaign to pay the U.S Treasury more than $219,000 to resolve issues caused by sloppy bookkeeping and accepting excessive contributions, including a discounted flight on a private jet.

You see, it was just a matter of ‘sloppy bookkeeping.’ After all, for all his faults, Mr. Biden is still a Democrat.

The audit was released Friday by the Federal Election Commission.

It determined that the Biden campaign accepted an improper corporate contribution in the form of a round-trip flight between New Hampshire and Iowa in June 2007 for three people. The Biden campaign paid GEH Air Transportation $7,911 for the first-class airfare, but regulators say the campaign should have paid the charter rate of $34,800.

The FEC also found that the Biden campaign could not document repaying at least $106,000 in donations that were over the limit, and the campaign was ordered to pay the U.S. Treasury more than $85,000 for stale-dated checks.

The Biden campaign also failed to disclose more than $3.7 million in payments and roughly $870,000 in debts.

The audit was conducted in part as a condition of Biden’s accepting taxpayer funds for his campaign through the presidential public financing system.

Lest we forget, although he had solemnly promised otherwise, Mr. Obama – at the last minute – chose to reject using public financing for the final leg of his three year campaign, and so he alone of the candidates escaped any audit.

Why did he do that, do you think?

Biden, now the vice president, campaigned for president for nearly a year before dropping out in January 2008 after a poor showing in the Iowa caucuses.

Which is to say that Mr. Biden campaigned for a year before the first caucus. And yet he managed to run up an unreported $879,000 in debts and now this $219,000 in fines that has to be repaid.

Still, if it helped to keep him away from the Senate for a year, it was money well spent.

Sheriff Joe will never repay a copper penny of this.
    Mao-Tse-bama will see to this.
Just as he focused like a laser on Americas demise.
Mark my words and no one will see a day behind bars, either!

Is that the ice cream truck I hear ringing?

Looks like plugs has been practicing his stateman pose.

If he could only master the chin lift, he could be the next president.

    Sloppy bookkeeping isn’t a factor.

Yes. So true. It’s the pose of the perfect Liberal bagman. Not too old, not too smart. The empty mind in the empty suit. Just collecting the big bucks for showing up. His face a blank facade upon which life has etched no hint of experience. He has noticed nothing tangible. Feeling nothing deeply. Living a life of clichéd fixations; even his obsessions seem shallow.

  3. Petronius says:

Does it give you comfort to know that the masterminds behind the Biden campaign’s “sloppy bookkeeping” are some of the same guys who will be regulating the American financial industry and managing our spending on health care?

Why do I have a feeling that Sheriff Joe was not picked to supervise Obama’s stimulus slush fund because of his excellent accounting skills? They could funnel stimulus money directly into the campaign coffers of key democrats and Joe wouldn’t question a thing. Besides, he’s expendable, so he’s the perfect fall guy if any stimulus shenanigans come to light.

Even if anything DOES come to light, Holder won’t prosecute it. It will be ignored and shoved aside. The case will never come up. Every time any entity brings it up, it will be ignored. The MSM will also ignore it and therefore the vast majority of oxygen-breathers will not know a thing about it. For they believe the “news” from the MSM is accurate and factual. Still.

That is indeed where 90% of the problem lies. Own the media, and you own the people. This is why King George was so adamant against colonists having newspapers of their own. Only the news the crown wanted printed could legally be circulated.

They fought it then and we fight it now. And even if the internet gets censored and the “fairness” doctrine (just the name of it is suspect—I mean, come on “doctrine”?—what kind of term is that anyhow) comes to pass, we will print our own papers and circulate them in parking lots and in schools and in businesses, etc. Anywhere and everywhere.

But why I have to live in such a time as this really irks me no end. I wanted to become comfortable in my career, work towards retirement, and enjoy my retirement years peacefully. Not worrying about the proletariat bugging me and monitoring my house a la USSR style.
