That is true but a lot of that comes from way back when he defeated Caleb Boggs back in the 1970′s and shortly after his wife and kids were killed in a very tragic car accident. Many in the state have had a soft spot for him since that time. That will fade, though, as the number of voters who weren’t even born when that happened because a larger percentage of the total. It is sort of like Al Gore when he was a Senator and his son was struck by a car and nearly killed at a Baltimore Orioles game (I was at that game that day and crossed the same street his son did only a few minutes earlier).

And a lot of that “love” is the same as the kind of “love” that Murtha enjoys. Biden brings home a LOT of bacon to a little state. Why do you think the banking laws are the way they are? Delaware is the state the got the largest benefit from the deregulation of the banks. Do you send your credit card payment to Wilmington, Delaware? A lot of people do.

I have the dubious honor of Senator Biden’s representation. People in this state freakin’ love the guy. I hope all these gaffes wake them up to the realization that they are voting in a knucklehead every 6 years.

I’m looking forward to how he opens the VP Debate: “Four-score and seven…er…walk softly and carry a…hmm…we have nothing to fear but…uh…ask not what you can…well…Mr. Gorbachev, tear down…um…watch my li-…ah…we will bury you!”

I’m slightly confused as to what “dirty coal” plants in China have to do with “clean coal” plants we want in the United States…

Here is an effort I would get behind and support money for:

Coal seam fires in the US, China, India, and Indonesia account for as much emissions as all the cars in the world combined. Rather than spending billions of dollars in CO2 mitigation, just put out the damned fires! Right now it costs more to put out the fires than the coal is worth so it is cheaper to let it burn. But if looked at in terms of how much CO2 emissions are planned to cost with various regulations, it might just be cheaper to put out the fires. Many countries of the world could pool money, resources, and manpower together to get those fires put out and it would provide jobs, eliminate the second largest source of CO2 and mercury emissions on the planet, and save coal resources for future generations. We would probably develop some good technology and procedures in fighting those kinds of fires, too.
