Biden: Economy Is In Danger Of Tanking

We had a hard timing bringing ourselves to post the latest dangerously crazy talk from Mr. Joe Biden, via ABC News.

But we thought we had better document it – for the historical record:

Biden: U.S. Economy in Danger of ‘Absolutely Tanking’

December 19, 2008

Vice President-Elect Joe Biden said the U.S. economy is in danger of "absolutely tanking" and will need a second stimulus package in the $600-billion to $700-billion range.

"The economy is in much worse shape than we thought it was in," Biden told me during an exclusive interview — his first since becoming vice president-elect–  to air this Sunday on "This Week with George Stephanopoulos."

"There is no short run other than keeping the economy from absolutely tanking. That’s the only short run," Biden told me.

Biden said he has canvassed  Republican and Democratic members of Congress about a second "big" and "bold" stimulus package . He said the Obama team is focused on creating jobs and spending on energy and information technology infrastructure.

"Every single person I’ve spoken to agrees with every major economist. There is going to be real significant investment, whether  it’s $600 billion or more, or $700 billion, the clear notion is, it’s a number no one thought about a year ago," he said.

The future vice president said the struggling economy will be the number one priority for the Obama Administration next year.

"The single most important thing we have to do as a new administration, to have — to be able to have impact on all of the other  things we want to do, from foreign policy to domestic policy, is we’ve  got to begin to stem this bleeding here and begin to stop the loss of  jobs in the creation of jobs," he said…

Just remember, Caroline Kennedy’s only political act to date was helping to pick Joe Biden to be Obama’s VP.

Who can doubt the soundness of her judgment?

Where has PLUGS been all this time? Oh…I forgot, he is counting his pay raise. Thank for weighing in……finally. I feel SOOOOO much more confident now he’s checked in with us peons.

  2. GuppyNblue says:

Biden may be tactless but is he this stupid? If just printing new money could fix the economy then why not just print a million for every American and we’d all be rich? Because it wouldn’t change our actual purchasing power, at least not for the better.

If he’s not stupid then I believe his intentions are something diabolical.

    “Locked in the bar”

End of time people are already picking up on his comments. I just got a funny email about how Biden and some CEO received intelligence in the Pentagon that all money is about to become worthless and mobs will roam the streets. Seems like a fear baiting excuse to take away free speech rights.

  4. 64dodger says:

Yes Biden is that stupid. Just look at some of his statments he has made in the past and you have to come to that conclusion.

  5. JohnMG says:

If we were all like Biden we’d be dining on shoe leather most of the time.

This ding-fod has been in congress for thirty-something years now and only just today he realizes how tenuous is the economy he helped shape?

…..”The single most important thing we have to do as a new administration, to have — to be able to have impact on all of the other things we want to do, from foreign policy to domestic policy, is we’ve got to begin to stem this bleeding here and begin to stop the loss of jobs in the creation of jobs,”…..WTF?

Its no wonder we haven’t heard from him up til now. Somebody should have waited until the anesthesia had worn off before the let him speak publicly. If you analyze the above quote…..no, never mind, that’s not possible. Just fit that moron out in a new sport coat–one of those with the wrap-around sleeves that have tie-tapes on the ends. I just KNOW he’s been lobotomized.

    • GuppyNblue says:

The secret service assigned to him should be issued tranquilizer darts. “He’s talking economy – take him out!”

    • JohnMG says:

If they shot him with a dart every time he needed it, he’d look like a pin-cushion.

    • GuppyNblue says:

      His head already does.

    • JohnMG says:

Nah…he’s been sprayed once with Hair-B-Gone but he needs another application. I have the same problem in my yard every spring with the dandelions. Usually the second dose gets the job done.

    • BigOil says:

Joe needs an urgent appointment with his hair club for men surgeon. It is becoming quite clear some of the plugs were transplanted upside down.

  6. rocketman says:

It’s called “Obamba Speak”. Say lotza words that have no meaning.

  7. proreason says:

“$600 billion or more, or $700 billion”

700B is 70% of annual income tax revenues. That means the government is going to give other people 70% of what you pay in income taxes, which you will have to pay later.

Of course, that’s in addition to the 4.2 Trillion they have already committed you to.

Don’t you feel great about your government taking care of you like this?

    • JohnMG says:

700B is just “pocket-CHANGE” compared to what Obama’s got planned for spending.

Looks like we’re in it pretty deep right now.

  8. crosspatch says:

They could stop the plummet any time they want to. What lenders should be doing at this point is taking any repossessed home over, say, 10 years old and razing them and reselling the property as a building lot. The resulting resale would not depress “median home prices” in the region because it would not be a home sale, it would be a building lot sale. It would reduce the glut of older homes on the market and act to support prices. While I wouldn’t normally suggest this measure, we are currently in extraordinary times. Removal of these homes from the market would improve the condition of the lender, the other lenders in the region, all property owners in the region and the economy as a whole. It would also sow the seeds for additional home construction in the future.

There is an old saying that if you have to eat a crap sandwich … don’t nibble. Now is not the time to nibble.

    • proreason says:

“They could stop the plummet any time they want to”

They don’t want to. This is a socialists wet dream.

  9. cjokry says:

Liberals have been crushing the US economy’s spirit with their gloomy rantings and sad coverage and unwarranted talk of recession ever since Bush got into office. Now they’ve discovered they can use that kind of talk to steal our money. Expect them to keep laying it on thick while they gear up to sell you the next pile of nothing: “Give us all your money or you’ll lose your job for sure!”

Meanwhile, the money you’re doing your 9 -5 for is turning more and more worthless with each bailout. The dollar won’t be worth shit if we don’t stop this, and we aren’t going to stop for AT LEAST 4 YEARS!!! Franklin D. Obama is already offering states money for public works to create jobs. (that arrogant jack*ss really does believe his own press.) Whatever they want, just submit a list. That kind of pork usually has to be hidden in some bill it has no pertinence to. Who even wants to be employed if you’re being paid with bad debt?

Biden’s probly not even in on the big heist; he just likes to talk on the tv once in awhile. Now he’s got a position where he can do a little damage with just one or two well-cued talking points, so they send him in swinging at the economy like a wrecking ball. See, it’s hard to suppress a nation full of well-employed, literate people. Only when we’re all unemployed and directionless back in the soup line will we look to Obama not as the reincarnation of the left’s favorite socialist hero, but as hungry animals look to their masters: like he is a god who can give us everything we want and need with but a motion.

  10. LewWaters says:

With total Democrat control for the next four years, Biden is correct, our economy will most likely tank.

  11. mrfocus says:

    Gird your porkloins PEOPLE!

    • JohnMG says:

      ….”Gird your pork loins?….”

Actually, a good marinade works just as well.

      How about ‘Gag your VP’?

  12. 1republicanscientist says:

do biden and kennedy share the same plastic surgeon? biden looks like his face was hanging out of the window during a space shuttle launch.

  13. aze_216 says:

According to biden in a speech in seattle, he warned us of non-specific threats that America will face in the near future and test obama’s “mettle”.
We are facing a huge threat and it’s biden’s big mouth. “we have met the enemy… and he is us”?

  14. crosspatch says:

Probably mine. My apologies. I would edit it out but time has apparently expired. Feel free to delete that last sentence in my comment.

  15. AmericanIPA says:

Didn’t take long for the motto to go from “yes we can” to “don’t expect too much” did it? So which is it Joe, can you two Godsends solve all our problems or not?

  16. Chinnubie says:

No real surprise here, I think it was just a matter of when. We all saw this coming but we were being hopeful that maybe the Anointed One would leave well enough alone. If these stupid moronic dingbats would just let this economy heal we could all get moving in a positive direction but these retarded socialists absolutely love this shit. Now they can really screw this country up by keeping everybody dependent on the Federal government. As long as they can continue to create havoc they will because this kind of meddling keeps these people in power.

Every liberal in the country has got to be ecstatic and full of joy at the crumbling of our great country. The only thing we can hope for is that eventually people will wake up to the fact that this type of governance just does not work. Unless people are okay with living a socialist style life. What is bad about that is most people do not know what that means but I suppose that when all of those same people have got to do without what they were used to having they’ll start to understand what socialism really means!!!!

  17. VMAN says:

A billion here, a billion there and pretty soon your talking about real money

  18. proreason says:

From the esteemed Economist Thomas Sowell:

“Today, increasing numbers of scholars recognize that FDR’s own policies were a further extension of interventions begun under Hoover. Moreover, the temporary rise in unemployment after the stock market crash was nowhere near the massive and long-lasting unemployment after government interventions.

Barack Obama already has his Herbert Hoover to blame for any and all disasters that his policies create: George W. Bush. ”

    http://townhall.com/columnists/ThomasSowell/2008/12/23/another_great_depression?page=2

Government actions created the Great Depression, but FDR had his built-in scapegoat….Hoover, and with someone to blame everything on, the economy was FDR’s sandbox. The parallels to the last few months, so far, are eerie.
