Biden To Lead Effort To Reduce ‘Gun Violence’

From the Washington Post:

Obama directs Cabinet to launch plan for reducing gun violence

By Debbi Wilgoren, Scott Wilson and David A. Fahrenthold | December 17, 2012

President Obama on Monday began the first serious push of his administration to attempt to reduce gun violence, directing Cabinet members to begin formulating a set of proposals that could include an effort to reinstate a ban on assault rifles.

The effort will be led by Vice President Biden, according to two people outside government who have spoken to senior administration officials…

How serious of an effort could it be, if Joe ‘Bite Me’ has been put in charge? The man who was put in charge of making sure there was no waste in the ‘Stimulus.’ The man who was put in charge of protecting the middle class.

And where is the usual blue ribbon commission?

On Capitol Hill, there were signs Monday that such fear was abating among key Democrats, although leading Republicans remained largely silent on what steps might be necessary to curb gun violence.

Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid (D-Nev.), Joe Manchin (D-WV), and Mark Warner (D-Va.) made clear that Congress should consider a range of options to address the issue; all three have been strong supporters of gun rights.

Sen. Dianne Feinstein (D-Calif.) said she would introduce legislation that would reimpose the assault rifle ban that lapsed in 2004.

Someone should tell Ms. Feinstein that Connecticut already has an assault rifle ban that is identical to the one that lapsed in 2004. It didn’t stop anything.

“We need to accept the reality that we’re not doing enough to protect our citizens,’’ Reid said after a moment of silence on the Senate floor. “In the coming days and weeks we’ll engage in a meaningful conversation and proper debate about how to change laws and culture that allow this violence to continue to grow…And every idea should be on the table.’’ …

Is Harry Reid capable of having a meaningful conversation on anything?

“I’ve been a strong supporter of Second Amendment rights,” Warner said Monday outside the Virginia Capitol, where he was attending an unrelated meeting. “I’ve got an A rating from the NRA. But the status quo isn’t acceptable. I’ve got three daughters. They asked me on Friday evening, ‘Dad, what are you gonna do about this?’

This is not rational thinking. This is the kind of emotional knee-jerk reaction that ends in bad laws.

“I must have had a half-dozen people come up — Colin Powell, actually,” Warner said. “People were just coming up and saying, ‘Hey, we’ve got to [do something].’”

Has anyone ever approached him about abortion?

Now that he’s head of the newest governmental anti-gun propaganda commission, I bet Biden offers to personally shoot somebody before the end of the year.

Questions to make a liberal start yelling:
“If we had more laws and government oversight a tragedy like this could have been adverted.” Is this the current argument for gun control or the hated patriot act?

“Making ____ illegal only increases ______ related crime.” Fill in the blanks with either pot or guns, what is the difference?

    Biden on the case?

Whew. For a minute there I was worried something ineffective would be trotted out.

……..”They asked me on Friday evening, ‘Dad, what are you gonna do about this?’……..”

Ohhhhhh, shades of Jimmy Carter and his daughter Amy discussing nuclear proliferation.

The Democrats must feel so certain of victory they’ve trotted out their third-string liars for this round of play.

I’m a Benefactor Life member of the NRA, but when they backed Reid in his last election I wrote them a heated letter informing them they’d never see another penny of my money until they review their endorsement policy toward dweebs like him. I can add Manchin’s name to the list of reasons now.

To say nothing of the fact that no such conversation took place.

However, interesting to note that captain skidmark puts words in his kids’ mouths to indicate that “he’s in chawge” and “he must DO something”. After all, that’s what big daddy does, right?

Makes me sick, actually. All of it. The event itself is sickening. The actions and words of the people who think they know how to fix it is also sickening.

I guess what gets me the that for all the “creative” souls that embrace the left-minded ways, none of them seem to have an ounce of ability to ponder how things would work out if all guns were eliminated. They cannot extrapolate logically…only emotionally.

Therefore president dumbass’s statement is of one purpose and one purpose alone: To tug at the emotions. In my world, this is called the cheap shot. This is called stage-play. This is called bullsh*t.

“What are you going to do about this?”

      Oh gag. Oh….bile-filled gag.

Never let a crisis go to waste.

Perhaps we could begin with Reid’s comment from the Senate, ““We need to accept the reality that we’re not doing enough to protect our citizens,’’ Reid said after a moment of silence on the Senate floor. “In the coming days and weeks we’ll engage in a meaningful conversation and proper debate about how to change laws and culture that allow this violence to continue to grow…And every idea should be on the table.’’ …

Reid has done more than enough to change our laws and culture and all of it is for the worst. Their ideas stem from centralized planning because they know best, after all. They will ultimately discover that most of us who have been around for some time take directions very poorly.

I think I see the angle on this; if it blows up Biden gets the stick and Obama loses little, if it goes good Obama steps in for the credit.
