Biden: US To Appeal Blackwater Case

From a cheering Associated Press:

Biden: US to appeal dismissal of Blackwater case

By Matt Apuzzo, Associated Press Writer

January 22, 2010

BAGHDAD – The U.S. will appeal a court decision dismissing manslaughter charges against five Blackwater Worldwide security contractors involved in a deadly 2007 Baghdad shooting, U.S. Vice President Joe Biden said Saturday.

Biden’s announcement after a meeting with Iraqi President Jalal Talabani shows just how diplomatically sensitive the incident remains nearly three years later.

Blackwater security contractors were guarding U.S. diplomats when the guards opened fire in a crowded Baghdad intersection. Seventeen people were killed, including women and children, in a shooting that inflamed anti-American sentiment in Iraqi.

According to Blackwater and several witnesses, the guards only opened fire after being fired upon.

But somehow the Associated Press neglects to mention that detail – at least in the part of the article that people are likely to actually read.

Biden expressed his "personal regret" for the shooting and said the Obama administration was disappointed by the dismissal. "A dismissal is not an acquittal," he said…

How can American citizens get a fair trial when the President and Vice President have stated that they are guilty?

The U.S. rebuffed Iraqi demands that the U.S. contractors face trial in Iraqi courts. After a lengthy investigation, U.S. prosecutors charged five of the contractors with manslaughter and took a guilty plea from a sixth.

But the case fell apart in December after a judge found that the Justice Department mishandled evidence and violated the guards’ constitutional rights. Prosecutors now face difficult odds getting an appeals court to reinstate the case.

Luckily, under Mr. Obama’s regime, constitutional rights are only for foreign terrorists. Not American citizens who are risking their lives for our national security.

And, lo and behold, we find buried at the bottom of this AP story:

Court documents paint a murky picture of a case rife with conflicting evidence. Some witnesses say the Blackwater convoy was under fire; others say it wasn’t. Some said the entire convoy fired into the intersection; others said only a few men opened fire.

Even the government’s key witnesses, three members of the Blackwater convoy, at times seemed to undercut the government’s case…

It’s painfully clear that Mr. Obama and his Justice Department will do anything within their powers to prosecute the people on our side who are fighting the War On Terror.

Just as it equally clear that they will do whatever they can, exploit every technicality, to let the terrorists go free. And, failing that, they will give them a megaphone for them to air their grievances.

Has a war ever been fought where the leadership is doing everything at every turn to betray its own soldiers?

This country’s greatest enemy is the man in the white house and his cabal.

Since it now seems we will overcome him (knock on wood), it would be interesting to see what observors in 50 years will say about the mass hypnosis that siezed this country in 2008.

And it will be interesting to see what becomes of the hypnotists who called themselves journalists for the last 30 years.

You mean Kid Zero finally let Joe O’Biden say something for a change. This is very typical of Obama and Eric Holder of continueing to pursue this Blackwater thing. It is created as a “deflection” of the Obama progressive agenda going forward while at the same time they are “belittling” the Bush adminstration and conserevatism. Kid Zero is so far “left” he stinks. It sure would tell us alot about him if we all could get ahold of his Thesis in college and what was in his inner thoughts of life. Communism???

  3. tranquil.night says:

A chance to further internationally tar and feather the labels “private” “military” “contractor” “American” and “constitutional rights.” This appeal is a no brainer for the cabal, but given their incensed unpopularity recently it would make sense that they’d walk ‘Plugs’ Biden out on a leash for the shameless plug.

Biden is a Knucklehead and needs to be “Scott Browned!”

  5. canary says:

The witnesses and video were enough it never should have gone to trial.
This is concrete evidence the Obamas hate American’s who defend her country. Obama only loves the real bad guys. Obama will never be a good guy.

  6. MinnesotaRush says:

The idiocy and misguided allegiance of this administration is absolutely stunning and appalling!

Yes .. by all means, Joe (and your boss), let’s fan the flames of every anti-American agenda we can find!

Go after Blackwater again (hopefully, some day they’ll get a chance to provide you, your boss, and your group of friends some “security”), try the SEALS, close Gitmo and denigrate the troops there (and all over the world), overlook and quelch the threat of jihad in/against our military, handcuff their activities around the globe, destroy missile defense, offend and insult every allie we have around the world .. good plan fella’s.

But make sure the panty bomber and his ilk get their Constitutional rights and day in Court. You astounding fools!

Hell .. maybe there’s time to get the cops involved in the King deal run thru another predetermined federal trial for something or other, you meatheads.

Good gawd, these people are despicable!

  7. Rip Cord says:

Hey Joe, while you are at it see if you can appeal the O J Simpson murder trial also. LOL

  8. puhiawa says:

Obama had to be the worst lawyer ever. Clearly he was an affirmative action hire at the law school, just like he is as President. The affirmative action President. You always hope the other guy gets the affirmative action guy. But with a President, we all suffer.

  9. cmblake6 says:

How do we hold them accountable? Our government, I mean. I believe the Blackwater story, and I believe the acquittal is the only real option. If the enemy hides behind women and children to fire at us, then it is THEIR fault when those “hostages” end up dead.
Also, read this. This is how ObaMao will get us disarmed. Not necessarily by “violating our rights”, but by removing our supply.

  10. yonason says:

Don’t forget, that idiot McAmnesty is on board WITH O’Bunko and O’Bidet.

McCain is no better than Obama!

If America can’t find a decent Republican, a REAL Conservative, to run in 2012, I fear the end of the Republic, or at least the closest call we’ve had since our inception.

  11. Liberals Demise says:

With Sheriff Joe leading the posse, the American public is in for yet another foot in mouth moment.

    “Barney Fife……..our Hero”

  12. BillK says:

This administration loves chiming in on legal cases for no apparent reason…

  13. NoNeoCommies says:

Joe is not too bright (no news there).
There were a lot of people working for or connected to Blackwater that know this was a raw deal.
Some of them will inevitably be on the security details for members of the administration when they visit places like Iraq and Afganistan.
