Bill Ayers Pal First Female On FBI Terrorist List

From the New York Area Journal News:

FBI adds cop-killer Joanne Chesimard to most-wanted terrorist list

May 2, 2013

The FBI on Thursday added cop-killer Joanne Chesimard to its list of 10 most-wanted terrorists — on the 40th anniversary of her killing a New Jersey state trooper. She’s the list’s first woman, a radical tied to members of the Brinks gang that killed two Nyack police officers and an armored car guard on Oct. 20, 1981.

Perhaps the FBI want to add more diversity to their ‘Most Wanted Terrorists’ list. Since, as we noted just yesterday, prior to her addition the list contained 31 people: 30 Muslims and one eco-terrorists from Berkeley.

Authorities have known where to find her for years — in Cuba — but can’t get her.

Chesimard, living under the name Assata Shakur, was a prominent member of the Black Liberation Army in 1973 when she shot and killed New Jersey Trooper Werner Foerster during a traffic stop. A jury convicted her of first-degree murder and seven other felony counts in 1977. She escaped from a New Jersey prison in 1979, with the help of other self-professed revolutionaires, including Marilyn Jean Buck.

Buck was convicted of multiple murders in the killing of Nyack Sgt. Edward O’Grady and Officer Waverly “Chipper” Brown and Brinks guard Peter Paige on Oct. 20, 1981. She drove one of the getaway cars for the robbers — a combination of Black Liberation Army extremists and Weather Underground radicals from the 1960s.

Ms. Buck was a member of Bill Ayers’ Weather Underground. Buck and other members of the Weather Underground and the BLA were also involved in breaking Chesimard out of prison. During which police officers were taken hostage at gunpoint.

Chesimard has been living under the protection of Cuban President Fidel Castro’s communist government since 1984, when she received political asylum.

Since May 2, 2005, the FBI had classified her as a “domestic terrorist” and offered a $1 million reward for assistance in her capture. Attempts to extradite her have resulted in letters to the pope and a congressional resolution.

She is the step-aunt of the deceased hip-hop icon Tupac Shakur, the stepson of her brother, Mutulu Shakur, who is considered the organizer of the Brinks robberies, including the one in Nanuet that ended with a shootout in Nyack.

Anyone with information concerning Chesimard is asked to call the FBI’s tip line at 800-CALL-FBI. Information can also be provided to the nearest FBI field office, American Embassy or consulate. A tip can also be submitted electronically at https://tips.fbi.gov.

Chesimard’s most-wanted poster can be found online at www.fbi.gov/wanted.

The Journal News neglects to mention Chesimard’s other connection to a famous person.

From Discover The Networks:

Ayers and Bernardine Dorhn [have] raised three children. One is named Malik (the Muslim name of Malcolm X). Another is named Zayd (after Zayd Shakur, a Black Liberation Army revolutionary who was killed while driving the cop-killer JoAnne Chesimard — a.k.a. Assata Shakur — to a hideout)…

Isn’t that touching?

By the way, the third child has also quite a backstory:

The third, a boy named Chesa Boudin, was raised by Ayers and Dohrn after his natural parents, Kathy Boudin and David Gilbert, were sentenced to lengthy prison terms for their roles in the 1981 Brinks murders, a joint Weatherman and Black Liberation Army operation that resulted in the killing of two police officers and an armed guard.

Yes, the same Kathy Boudin who is now a professor at Columbia.
