Bill Clinton: We Have To Slow Down Economy
From the sometimes surprising ABC News:
Bill: “We Just Have to Slow Down Our Economy” to Fight Global Warming
January 31, 2008
Jake Tapper
Former President Bill Clinton was in Denver, Colorado, stumping for his wife yesterday.
In a long, and interesting speech, he characterized what the U.S. and other industrialized nations need to do to combat global warming this way: “We just have to slow down our economy and cut back our greenhouse gas emissions ’cause we have to save the planet for our grandchildren.”
At a time that the nation is worried about a recession is that really the characterization his wife would want him making? “Slow down our economy”?
I don’t really think there’s much debate that, at least initially, a full commitment to reduce greenhouse gases would slow down the economy….So was this a moment of candor?
He went on to say that his the U.S. — and those countries that have committed to reducing greenhouse gases — could ultimately increase jobs and raise wages with a good energy plan.
So there was something of a contradiction there.
Or perhaps he mis-spoke.
Or perhaps this characterization was a description of what would happen if there isn’t a worldwide effort…I’m not quite certain.
You can watch that one clip HERE or you can watch the whole speech at the website of ABC News’ great Denver affiliate KMGH by clicking HERE…
Say, maybe this is why Mrs. Clinton has been trying to talk us into a recession for so long?
(And so much for Hillary being able to control her husband.)

Well knock me over with a feather. I thot the article was our host’s commentary–instead its the words Clinton hagiographer (and Monica Lewinsky’s other boyfriend) Jake Tapper.
“those countries that have committed to reducing greenhouse gases — could ultimately increase jobs and raise wages with a good energy plan.”
I’d love to ask him how dat works. Hey Jake, ask wifey if she agrees!
BO plenty should run with this issue. The unions are all against him anyway
Shutting up now . . . don’t need to give the lefties any ideas.

Now by “our,” does he mean belonging to the whole human race, ie, the global economy?
If not this is like saying “Eat fewer beans so you’ll stop farting in the pig barn. It stinks in there.”
India and China will slow their economies for the sake of CO2 about the same time said pig barn includes a control tower and landing strip.

“We just have to slow down our economy and cut back our greenhouse gas emissions ’cause we have to save the planet for our grandchildren.”
First “the children”.
Now “the grandchildren”.
Whatever “we” do, he won’t change a damn thing he does.
Bill Clinton sucks and he wants the Lincoln bedroom again on your dime.

Man, they are creepy. What in the hell did the whole country just about keel over and die about? A slow economy! So I guess a slow economy is a good thing, as long as a liberal chuckle head says it is. Actually, what goat smellin’ Bill is trying to say is, a dem is probably going to be the next prez and that means the economy WILL slow down so we might as well act like they slowed it down on purpose.

Why are you laughing?
I fail to see the humor.

Well isn’t that just the quintessential liberal position?
Anything that slows America down, they like. Any excuse is adequate.
And of course that’s what the whole global warming scam is really about.
A reason to cut down on the civilized industrial world, most particularly America.

This strategy is brilliant!
This way when Hillary destroys the US economy with higher taxes, health care schemes and Lord knows what else, it will look like it was planned as a way to solve global warming.
I’m not kidding here. Should Hillary take power, that’s exactly how it will be spun, combined with public talk about how the corresponding unemployment is actually the result of “Bush’s recesssion.”

I don’t know about yall , but I am getting damned tired of seing that boney finger sticking up every frigging time that POS tells a other lie.
I wish he would try to do that face to face with me.
Yeah, I would go to jail, but he sure as hell would go to the hospital.

That was what I was going to say. If you want a slow economy, elect a Democrat. However, after seeing the spending frenzy in both the Capitol and the White House, I sometimes wonder if there is much difference between the two.
But given that both Democratic Presidential candidates have already said they are going to raise taxes, a slow economy is what we will get. However, we are quickly reaching a point that no matter who is in the White House or Congress, they will not be able to stop the corrective action that is coming.

Can’t we just slow the Clinton economy? Recall that Hillary turned $1000 into $100,000 in a day in Cattle Futures. They could lose a little money and not even notice it.

Same old same old. Global Warming, Education, Health Care, race relations, gun ownership–just what it is is only a detail.
It’s always a crisis. It’s always because of capitalism and/or Christianity. And more government is always the solution.

The claim that Bill Clinton wants to slow the economy to prevent global warming is intellectually dishonest, considering that the full context of his quote shows he was arguing exactly the opposite point:
“And maybe America, and Europe, and Japan, and Canada — the rich counties [sic] — would say, “OK, we just have to slow down our economy and cut back our greenhouse gas emissions ’cause we have to save the planet for our grandchildren.” We could do that. But if we did that, you know as well as I do, China and India and Indonesia and Vietnam and Mexico and Brazil and the Ukraine, and all the other countries will never agree to stay poor to save the planet for our grandchildren. The only way we can do this is if we get back in the world’s fight against global warming and prove it is good economics that we will create more jobs to build a sustainable economy that saves the planet for our children and grandchildren. It is the only way it will work.”

Actually, 1st, if he’s always pointing a finger everytime he lies, that could be a good barometer to indicate he’s lying. Another good way to know if Clinton is lying? Watch his mouth… if it’s moving, he’s lying.
Slow the economy to prevent global warning? First of all, you have to prove global warming. Second, you have to prove it’s a real danger and just not the earth going through natural changes.
My wife gets hot flashes. Does that mean she’s gonna die? I mean, like, real soon, and not many years from now. Will the hot flashes be the cause of her death?
Global warming, global cooling, you can prove either one. Does the Earths climate change. Yep. Has been for millenia.
Besides, if Al Gore believes in it, if liberals believe in it, then, well, I kinda doubt it. Just a scam for more tax and penaly money to enrich those already rich off of our tax bucks.
Big rocks, and especially this big rock, Earth, seem to have a rather long life expectancy.
