Bill Clinton To Coach Dems On O-care

From an awestruck Associated Press:

Bill Clinton meets with Senate Dems on health care

By Ricardo Alonso-zaldivar, Associated Press Writer

WASHINGTON – Former President Bill Clinton knows just how high the political stakes are in the fight to overhaul America’s health care system.

His failed attempt to revamp the delivery of medical care contributed to the Republican takeover of the House and Senate in 1994.

Fast forward to 2009, where health care’s white-hot spotlight now shines on the Senate. Clinton is still in the picture, and he’s expected to speak to Senate Democrats about health care legislation during their weekly caucus Tuesday, officials said. They spoke on condition of anonymity because they were not authorized to discuss his schedule…

Notice how the Associated Press makes it sound like it was the Democrats failure to nationalize healthcare in 1994 that cost them the mid-term elections.

Whereas, the truth is that it was their attempt to socialize medicine that caused the citizenry to rise up and throw them out.

But we have to wonder: is this the same Bill Clinton who said that Mr. Obama would have to kiss his ass before he would ever support him?

Still, if Mr. Clinton really wants to help Mr. Obama – or better yet, help our country – he might tell him what he told the reporter and author, Joe Klein.

As we noted back in September, according to Klein’s 2003 book about the Clinton presidency, The Natural, pp 121-2, Mr. Clinton admitted that Hillary-care was the wrong approach to healthcare reform:

The President [Clinton] later admitted, during one of our conversations, that a more elegant, Third Way solution would have been to simply give health care tax credits (or vouchers, in effect) to those who needed them, mostly the working poor (the very poorest receive health care coverage through Medicaid).

This was, essentially, the proposal first made by Stuart Butler of the Heritage Foundation and resurrected, in modified form, by former senator Bill Bradley in the 2000 Democratic presidential primary campaign.

"That’s what you’re going to have to do eventually," the President conceded, "and if I could do it now, that’s what I would offer. The problem was, I couldn’t do it in ‘94, with the deficits the way they were, without a tax increase."

So even Bill Clinton conceded that tax credits and vouchers would have been better healthcare reform than what he was pushing with Hillary-care. (And Hillary-care was far less intrusive and costly than Obama-care will be.)

Indeed, it’s hard to imagine any approach causing more of what Clinton feared – a higher deficit and/or more tax increases — than the bill that is currently being ramrodded through Congress.

But tax credits and vouchers don’t give the federal government the kind of total control over people’s lives that Mr. Obama and the Democrats seek.

And that is ultimately what ‘healthcare reform’ is all about.

Will there be a “Intern” sacrifice before the ass kissing starts?

The problem with reading about anything Bill Clinton says is that finding the truth in it is like finding a specific electron in the Universe.

Wow, the Demorats are really going all in to support Barry. He doesn’t care how many people on his side of the isle he has to throw under the bus to get his Venezuelan-style country set up.

I guess Bill figures this gesture will help keep from getting him thrown under the bus for the time being.

They already know they will lose in 2010. That bell rang clearly in the elections last week.

Everybody voting yes for the Health CramDown has been promised wealth for life, whether they lose the next election or not. Clinton has probably been guaranteed an exalted lifetime position in the oligarchy for Chelsea to win his cooperation.

This is the fascists best and LAST chance to takeover the country.

They will do anything to get it.

Immediately after the election, I said the danger is at it’s peak right now.

      Now you know why.

Uuhhh, did Bill Clinton forget that they did pass something, a huge retroactive tax increase?

But we voted Republican because there was no health care?

If Clinton believes what he says he is missing a good laugh.

    Clinton, are you reading this?

    Someone please show him this.

“Clinton Global Initiative” name plate? CZAR? I thought he was UN ambassador to that little Haiti Island he and Hillary vacation at after his term.
Those photos of Bill with the flower necklaces, grassed skirted women pawing him, and holding cocktails with pineapple.

Time to pass out the cigars and listen to Bill. Remember when turning the tables on an intern was, “the scandal”?
My how things have changed. What Bill did to one/many in private, “O” is trying to do to the whole Nation in public.
Bring us to our knees. I almost miss those old days…almost. Funny Bill’s hindsight won’t keep him from doing the right thing, and speak up. Oops! I hear a piper playing.
