Bill Clinton Wants Agency To Combat Lies

Speaking of Bill Clinton, from Fox News:

Bill Clinton Muses About Creating Internet Agency to Combat Falsehoods

Published May 14, 2011 | FoxNews.com

If Bill Clinton had his way, there would be an Internet agency created by the U.S. government or United Nations to debunk malicious rumors that originate and spread online.

"I think it would be a legitimate thing to do," Clinton told CNBC in an interview that aired Friday. He was interviewed alongside Mati Kochavi, a cybersecurity entrepreneur.

So the US government and the United Nations would be able to knock down malicious rumors created by the vast rightwing conspiracy. Such as the rumor that Mr. Clinton had sex with that Lewinsky woman.

But Clinton added that if such an agency were ever created, it would have to be "totally transparent" about where its funding came from and would have to be independent.

Sort of like all of his foundation and Presidential library. Only different.

"Let’s just say the U.S. did it. It would have to be an independent federal agency that no president could countermand or anything else because people wouldn’t think you were just censoring the news and giving a different falsehood out," he said.

Sometimes it is just so revealing to here Democrats talk. The things they reveal about their thinking.

"That is, it would be like, I don’t know, National Public Radio or BBC or something like that, except it would have to be really independent and they would not express opinions, and their mandate would be narrowly confined to identifying relevant factual errors," he said.

Yes, something totally trustworthy like Soros-funded, Juan Williams-firing NPR and the admittedly biased BBC. What telling examples to cite as one’s ideal.

Clinton said the agency would have to have citations so it could be checked in case it made a mistake.

And they could be fact-checked by the Soros-funded Media Matters.

"Somebody needs to be doing it, and maybe it’s a worthy expenditure of taxpayer money," he said. "But if it’s a government agency in a traditional sense, it would have no credibility whatever, particularly with a lot of the people who are most active on the Internet."

So it would have to be run by the government, but without us knowing it.

Check.

    ++++++

Another Brass Nut Deadbeat steps up to the microphone and wants the “Government” to run another freedom down the toilet for our own good.
“A worthy expenditure of taxpayer money” is how he puts it.
Big Brother is coming after us, Even if they bring in the U.N. to quell the unwashed.

And yet another brick is taken from Liberty’s wall.
Why can’t Bubba pop a sock in the hole under that nose?

This is the great thing about being one of 6 billion human beings.

Some of them say things that a million william shakespeare’s could never dream up in a billion years.

    Irony is in its infancy.

  5. tranquil.night says:

Ahem, that agency would be the New Media.

  6. eaglewingz08 says:

So the ‘truth checker’ agency would have to be run like the two most socialist/communist propaganda machines in the US-BBC and NPR. Way to instill confidence in its ‘objectivity’, Mr. Clinton.
And I’m sure if such an agency was around in 1992-2000, the Monica files would be long dead and buried and you might still have some reputation left.

  7. Right of the People says:

Didn’t the Soviet Union have an agency like this? I believe it was called the KGB. Coming to think of it, didn’t some guy named Goebbels run a similar agency for Dolphy Hitler?

    Just sayin’.

  8. U NO HOO says:

If you don’t hear a rumor by 9 AM it is your duty to start one. I’ll go first, “Bill Clinton did not have sex with that woman, Ms Lewinsky…”

  9. bill says:

So everything a Democrat says gets deleted?

  10. canary says:

Clinton that viciously shook his finger at America that he did not have sex, and Bill anger at Hillary questioning him, convincing her it was a right wing conspiracy.

Oh for sure, the news has to stop reporting Hillary’s statement she and Chelsa dodged bullets, and Chelsea was jogging in Central Park near 9/11.

  11. yadayada says:

    oh, so much ammo here I don’t know where to begin. I’ll take just one small section, -so ripe for mining;

    (1) “Somebody needs to be doing it, and maybe it’s a (2)worthy expenditure of (3) taxpayer money,” he said. “But if it’s a government agency in a (4) traditional sense, it would have (5) no credibility whatever, particularly with a lot of (6) the people who are most active on the Internet.”

    1. “somebody needs to be doing it.” ??? yes, because those unwashed masses believed Monica!! they can’t possibly be trusted to research anything or discern truth!! after all – “Monica wouldn’t know the truth if it hit her in the face, and then dribbled onto her dress.”

    2. market can’t audit or monitor truth- gotta be gubmint

    3. does anyone (!?!?!) think he is a credible discerner of tax money worthiness?

    4. who traditions? Washington? Jefferson? Reagan? obomba?

    5. coming from one who is intimately and imminently responsible for current distrust of gubmint.

    6. like those who read and post on S&L who obviously need a heavy dose of gubmint reeducation.

  12. Papa Louie says:

What will they call this new agency? NPI (National Public Internet)? Sure, that’s what we need – another government funded and “unbiased” propaganda machine like NPR, run entirely by Democrats. It makes you wonder why they think they need all that extra help to get their message out. Do they lack confidence in their message or in their ability to convince the public to accept it?

  13. Enthalpy says:

“It would have to be “totally transparent” about where its funding came from and would have to be independent.” Don Quixote rides.
