Reading, writing and . . . global warming?
A Silicon Valley lawmaker is gaining momentum with a bill that would require “climate change” to be among the science topics that all California public school students are taught.
The measure, by state Sen. Joe Simitian, D-Palo Alto, also would mandate that future science textbooks approved for California public schools include climate change.
“You can’t have a science curriculum that is relevant and current if it doesn’t deal with the science behind climate change,” Simitian said. “This is a phenomenon of global importance and our kids ought to understand the science behind that phenomenon.”
The state Senate approved the bill, SB 908, Jan. 30 by a 26-13 vote. It heads now to the state Assembly. Gov. Arnold Schwarzenegger has taken numerous actions to reduce global warming, but he has yet to weigh in on Simitian’s bill. Other Republicans in the Capitol, however, are not happy about the proposal…
Simitian noted that his bill wouldn’t dictate what to teach or in what grades, but rather would require the state Board of Education and state Department of Education to decide both.
Although global warming is mentioned in high school classes about weather, it is currently not required to be covered in all textbooks, said the head of the California Science Teachers Association.
“This is a great idea. I don’t think there’s any reason to talk about politics,” said Christine Bertrand, the group’s executive director. “There’s no argument that there is climate change. The argument is how much is caused by the activities of mankind.” …
Maybe they can work “climate change” into their teaching about evolution.
Except now, of course, the earth and its inhabitants are not supposed to change or adapt — ever.

Our science education no longer has anything to do with science. Anti-Christianity, anti-capitalism, anti-American… all more important goals to our education system than actual education.

I guarantee you that any type of global warming course will have a “slant” to the viewpoint and you don’t have to guess which direction that will be.
No objectivity here. I never thought when I was going to school that Science would have a “spin” to it.

Kids are coming out of the school systems barely able to read and write -not that that matters anymore because they all know they’re gonna drown next year anyway, unless they can convince everyone else to live in the stone age.

Ok Senator Simitian, just what is the science behind global climate change? Better yet, just what will the maximum temperature and maximum relative humidity for Palo Alto be on Tuesday of next week? I thought so.

that website is exposing this nonsense for what it is - bad science. You should see the front page today, they have some official climate temperature station in Texas that shows bogus warming that is nearly off the scale. And then the NASA folks apply some sort of adjustment to it an make it worse.
If this makes it into schools as required teaching we are doomed.

Hey! Climate change is real! The political climate is going from abysmal to totally screwed. This will be a non issue as soon as the responsible morons cant wring any more money out of it….as it is, there are billions to be made selling snake oil, and millions of stupid vapid clueless idiots to buy it…..until they have to walk….or be very very cold. Then, all bets will be off. Global warming is pure horseshit.

Do I smell a ‘glowball warning’ version of the Scopes Trial in the making?!? This time we (right, truth, reality, true science, you know - the non-insane) must fight to the bitter end. Sometimes I wonder just how RoeV Wade, Murray v. Curlett and the darwinians - ever got a foothold much less a win in America. . .Bad law at best, absolute stupidity at worst and it seems to keep going.
We all beat back Shamnesty this summer - we can and must start standing up to this insane and America destroying garbage. If you take America’s consumption (granted very high and ‘wasteful’ [it all depends on your definition of wasteful]) against those countries where the majority of the population has no electricity and running water nor the over-the-top consumption, I’d bet that the reality is that the balance would be close to exact if not even balanced more to the have nots as opposed to the haves. It is why I truly believe that this is a way to tax and force America down to the 3rd World status rather than encourage the 3rd World to come up to our levels. BTW, most of the disease, pestilence and squalor is in the 3rd World countries - is this really what Al (3 homes, uber electrical consumption and private jet user) Gore wants?!? Until he goes FIRST, don’t bother me, tax me nor ever, even consider penalizing me (my home is neutral on ‘his’ chart and with the addition of two more people - probably plunging headlong into the negative regions).
If they make this crappola manditory for public schools - watch them empty out like rats fleeing a sinking ship.
