Bin Laden Found In Luxury Pakistan Castle

From an unquestioning Reuters:

Bin Laden was found at luxury Pakistan compound

WASHINGTON (Reuters) – U.S. forces finally found al Qaeda leader Osama bin Laden not in a mountain cave on Afghanistan’s border, but with his youngest wife in a million-dollar compound in a summer resort just over an hour’s drive from Pakistan’s capital, U.S. officials said.

The people who are surprised by this news are the one who have been living in a cave. More than two thirds of the top leadership of Al Qaeda have been found in Pakistan, usually in major cities.

Meanwhile, we give more than $1.5 billion dollars a year to Pakistan in aid. Foreign policy experts, like Senator John Kerry, think we need to give them even more money.

A small U.S. team conducted a night-time helicopter raid on the compound early on Monday. After 40 minutes of fighting, bin Laden and an adult son, one unidentified woman and two men were dead, the officials said.

Notice the conspicuous absence of any reading of ‘Miranda rights.’ By the way, according to reports, the woman who was killed was used as a ‘human shield’ by these courageous freedom fighters, famous for their respect for women.

U.S. forces were led to the fortress-like three-story building after more than four years tracking one of bin Laden’s most trusted couriers, whom U.S. officials said was identified by men captured after the September 11, 2001 attacks.

"Detainees also identified this man as one of the few al Qaeda couriers trusted by bin Laden. They indicated he might be living with or protected by bin Laden," a senior administration official said in a briefing for reporters.

Other reports suggest this information about the courier may have come directly from Guantanamo "detainee" Khalid Sheik Mohammed himself. Apparently, the courier was a protégé of Mr. Mohammed’s.

If so, let’s hope it wasn’t extracted via waterboarding, or we will have to apologize to the world and re-animate Mr. Bin Laden.

Bin Laden was finally found — more than 9-1/2 years after the 2001 attacks on the United States — after authorities discovered in August 2010 that the courier lived with his brother and their families in an unusual and extremely high-security building, officials said.

Would it be too cynical to wonder why it took Obama administration eight months to do something about Osama? Were they hoping he would escape? Or did they want his death to be closer to the 2012 elections? Or was Mr. Obama just dithering?

After all, Mr. Obama has repeatedly said that killing Osama was his top priority. And that it was all we really needed to do in Afghanistan and the war on terrorism ‘man-caused disasters.’ So why the delay?

They said the courier and his brother were among those killed in the raid.

"When we saw the compound where the brothers lived, we were shocked by what we saw: an extraordinarily unique compound," a senior administration official said.

"The bottom line of our collection and our analysis was that we had high confidence that the compound harbored a high-value terrorist target. The experts who worked this issue for years assessed that there was a strong probability that the terrorist who was hiding there was Osama bin Laden," another administration official said.

The home is in Abbottabad, a town about 35 miles north of Islamabad, that is relatively affluent and home to many retired members of Pakistan’s military.

Well, in some ways that is fitting. One could say that Mr. Bin Laden was himself a semi-retired member of the military. Some would even say he was practically a member of the Pakistan military, given their support for the Taliban and other terrorist operations over the years.

(In fact, it can be argued that the Taliban was created by Pakistan’s Benazir Bhutto and its intelligence agency, the ISI.)

It was a far cry from the popular notion of bin Laden hiding in some mountain cave on the rugged and inaccessible Afghan-Pakistan border — an image often evoked by officials up to and including former President George W. Bush.

Er, we seem to recall Mr. Obama talked about Mr. Bin Laden living in a cave as much as anybody. Except maybe our watchdog news media.

The building, about eight times the size of other nearby houses, sat on a large plot of land that was relatively secluded when it was built in 2005. When it was constructed, it was on the outskirts of Abbottabad’s center, at the end of a dirt road, but some other homes have been built nearby in the six years since it went up, officials said.

Intense security measures included 12- to 18-foot outer walls topped with barbed wire and internal walls that sectioned off different parts of the compound, officials said. Two security gates restricted access, and residents burned their trash, rather than leaving it for collection as did their neighbors, officials said.

Few windows of the three-story home faced the outside of the compound, and a terrace had a seven-foot (2.1 meter) privacy wall, officials said.

"It is also noteworthy that the property is valued at approximately $1 million but has no telephone or Internet service connected to it," an administration official said. "The brothers had no explainable source of wealth."

In other words, it was a Muslim terrorist’s idea of a castle. Still, does anyone know if Mr. Bin Laden had an iPhone?

U.S. analysts realized that a third family lived there in addition to the two brothers, and the age and makeup of the third family matched those of the relatives — including his youngest wife — they believed would be living with bin Laden.

"Everything we saw, the extremely elaborate operational security, the brothers’ background and their behavior and the location of the compound itself was perfectly consistent with what our experts expected bin Laden’s hide-out to look like," another Obama administration official said.

But not any of the "experts" we ever heard from on TV or in the newspapers.

Abbottabad is a popular summer resort, located in a valley surrounded by green hills near Pakistani Kashmir. Islamist militants, particularly those fighting in Indian-controlled Kashmir, used to have training camps near the town.

This ‘compound’s’ market value has probably gone through the roof.

Already two stories are running around; one that he was killed by a bomb a week ago and the DNA test just came in; the other that he was killed in the aforementioned special forces raid by a bullet to the head, quickly identified, then buried at sea. ??????

I guess Obama feels the only people who dare question him are right wingers; but I’m sure a lot of the world is wondering where are the photos and documentation. When Saddam’s two son’s were killed there was considerable evidence presented that it was them, here it’s just what Obama says.

Randy Weaver and David Koresh also lived in “compounds”. And suffered the same fate. Apparently Washington DC hates compounds.

Wonder why they haven’t annihilated the asshat who lives in this real compound?

    That’s Calypso Louie, btw.

OBL’s castle looked like a dump to me.

That’s the way they live in this part of the world. Too busy fighting and jockeying for status in the tribe to really work the land or develop civilizing relationships and organizations, and so it has been a wasteland for centuries….the dust, dirt, garbage burning, rivers as cesspools….. All pointing to the famous Green Line in the Levant….where the land is worked by the descendants of the Israelites and Hebrews it is flourishing. Where the Arabs have lived and fought and rutted about it is brown and near worthless – certainly no place you would choose to live. Desolation and dirt doesn’t lift anyone to live much above the mess you on which you are commenting.

Saddam’s palaces in Baghdad, all constructed under socialist rule and an economy and culture rife with bribes and black marketing and lawlessness and terror? Falling apart within a couple years of being finished, and that decay had nothing to do with bombs and bullets. A severe lack of work ethic, general ethics, education, and reason to excel. There is nothing in Islam that brings the people up – they are living now, with a few Western amenties here and there, like they did at the peak of their enlightenment, around 800 a.d.

Chase…that lack of work ethic is a scary thing.

Think how many Doctors we have from the middle east. Ummm.
I’m sure most are fine and very professional…but one would wonder though wouldn’t we if that poor work ethic might include some doctors.

I have an arab doc as my GP who has been very good to me. But lately I feel more comfortable with his American partner who is even more careful. Thats just my opinion though. But I would see him if I had to,

I had to visit another Arab specialist doc who is highly thought of but his partner…who I had to see for a procedure left me cold. He acted like he had no interest at all…especially as I was a woman. I found another doctor.

I guess that can go for all docs though. Some good, some not so good.

I think BHO may be planting seeds of conspiracy to further distract from all the damage he wants to inflict. How can he supposedly direct such a well planned choreographed operation but completely butcher the specifics and details? Especially about verifying his identity? And the quick burial at sea sounds like a cover-up. They had 24 hrs to prove it within accepted Islamic requirements instead of doing it in like 14 hours. And how do you confirm DNA in 12 hours? Ten months of planning and no clear contingency on what to do with the body? This looks fishy… right before OBL was plunked into the sea!

As Jose Wales might have said, “bury those fellers? spit… “even the worms, (sharks) have got to have something to eat”

  5. Rusty Shackleford says:

“How can he supposedly direct such a well planned choreographed operation but completely butcher the specifics and details?

The answer, as applies to his entire life, is “cold detachment”. First, one must understand that he has no compassion at all for the families of the people who lost their lives on September 11, 2001. Partly due to his narcissism; Partly because he probably feels that it was caused by our “negligent feelings toward the sand-people”. In any case, the end result is the same. A president, almost above all else, must be able to understand the sentiment of the nation they lead. Many in the past have been accused of this same cold detachment, owing, perhaps to the nature of the type of person the office attracts.

That chairman Obie is dysfuntional is well-established. Even in our modern, insta-info age, he has no more feeling toward others than a piece of wood. That is, unless it can serve him to a profitable result. Thus, you get the kind of speeches he gives that advertise his emptiness. To be fair, it’s not his fault, but it is his responsibility. All of us are products of our background and experiences and until he was gifted with a collegiate life, most of his experiences probably pretty much sucked.

I’m not defending him; I’m simply saying that he’s a product of the worst side of our society. And, what makes it worse is the contradiction that he tries to live. Family man? Right. Responsible leader? He’s neither responsible nor a leader. Smart? Well, we’ve all seen the brilliance and deep-thinking that comes from this “man”. He may have been born in the US but he is an alien. He never had but one real job, scooping out ice cream for people he probably hated. So, he gravitated towards things that made him look powerful (community organizing) but that actually required very little effort on his part. What he calls “skill” and “talent” are probably more likely extensions of his anger and hatred toward others that has been honed to a fine point, but not the result of any real effort on his part.

And, looking at it from the perspective of the Average American who was horrified by the events that resulted in yesterday’s news, I’m pretty sure he felt none of the horror, none of the anger and none of the sadness that enveloped 90% of the nation. His reaction was, most likely, that of other muslims around the world in a “serves you right” kind of fashion.

This is a president who cannot be trusted. Actually, it’s that he can be trusted all too well. His view of the universe is so skewed, there are no physicists who could even come up with a viable theory as why it is so. He is tainted at the base of everything and his vision is skewed by simmering rage. The roots of which have never been addressed or corrected and at this point, it is doubtful that even if he was to go see a therapist, that he would believe them and try to make corrections. He is thus now permanently flawed, hopeless, a lost cause emotionally and we, the American People, are bearing the results of that disease.

Some day, perhaps, a movie will be made of this guy, much the way they have made movies of other megalomaniacs. Hitler is the obvious analogy but I want to avoid the obvious. Melville had his Captain Ahab, Heinlein, his Valentine Michael Smith, though not a megalomaniac, the victim of one or many. Of course, there’s the story of Napoleon, Mussolini, but we’ve never really seen the likes of someone like Obama in the capacity of leader of the free world. That is to say, someone who desperately wants to be a dictator, confined by the rules of a democratic republic, who was not able to issue diktats to a society that had to suffer manipulation by other means.

But just think if he had his way. Cars would be banned. Right now. Or, at the very least, in one year’s time. Oil and gas production would cease to be available in the US, or, if they were, used only for the government. Thus, the nation would come to a screeching stop. One can debate whether this would be the result of trying to instantly “go green” or just to punish the nation he hates so much. Perhaps only blacks would be able to get gas. I dunno. But it’s an interesting thought experiment to wonder just how bad it could get and at what speed it would happen if chairman Obie was given free reign to do as he pleased.

In my mind, the end result is obvious; He would gut this nation, the military would be out of a job; In fact there would be no jobs at all. Money would be scarce, or worse, the Fed would be printing it so fast a loaf of bread would cost $1,000 or more, etc. In other words, Germany, 1933. His lack of understanding about capitalism and hatred of same would combine to create a sort of financial “singularity” where money would just disappear. The barter system would make a comeback, People who had any means would farm the land they live on, but there would be a huge financial collapse.

Industry would essentially stop. We wouldn’t be able to get anything, even if there was the money to do so. In his mind, any and all who work and make a living are evil and he doesn’t particularly care for or about them. In other words, the “racist” middle class.

I could go on but it’s clear that when he told a bunch of school kids that he’d like to be a dictator, but that we have “this thing” called the Constitution that prevents him from just issuing a supreme order. The frustration he gets from that, and it’s not the first time he’s used this touchstone, is palpable. I’m sure that he believes a national leader should be able to do what he wants, and that much is evident in the 100 times greater use of AF1, the time off, the golf, the parties, the lack of wanting to do most of what every American president has done as regards state functions for, oh, 230 years now. He’s antisocial.

He focuses his attention on only a couple of things, neither of which is driven by the desires of the people. He holds them in contempt so therefore, he dismisses them and their (our) desires are unimportant. He focuses on those things that might interest him and which match his uptake on his narrow-minded views. Anything muslim. Anything black or sometimes both at the same time. And, now, anything that makes him look good in order to be re-elected.

At this point, I’m not ruling out a manufactured crisis so he can postpone elections indefinitely. By creating a cauldron and turning up the heat of festering hatred for the US in the middle east, that crisis may come but it would also, probably backfire on the dear boy. Knowing this, he has also set the stage for trying to collapse our oil industry by manipulating it so that other nations get US dollars to search for and extract oil, probably with the proviso that it get sold to China and the USSR. And, with more than complicit operatives in our own government, something we came dangerously close to in the 1950’s, we may see all this happen and the US brought to its knees.

And that fits with the overall mentality of the socialist mind, that the people are merely tools to be used in the great struggle for power and to maintain it with those who subscribe to it. Useful idiots comes to mind.

It’s all been done. Nothing new here. Nation after nation has had their “revolutions” but the US was the only one that was so successful and perhaps that’s why every other nation on Earth hates us. It’s human nature and the rationalization to justify the argument flies well into the absurd.
