‘Bitch’ Schumer To Hit GOP’s War On Women

From his admirers at the Politico:

New York Sen. Chuck Schumer schemes to hit GOP on more wedge issues

New York Sen. Chuck Schumer believes he has found a political weapon in the unlikeliest of places: the Violence Against Women Act.

Republicans have several objections to the legislation, but instead of making changes, Schumer wants to fast track the bill to the floor, let the GOP block it, then allow Democrats to accuse Republicans of waging a “war against women.”

Mind you, this is the same Chuck Schumer who has pronounced that Obama’s Super PAC doesn’t have to return Bill Maher’s $1 million contribution, despite his disgusting verbal attacks on Sarah Palin and Michele Bachmann and other conservative women.

Mr. Schumer is also the same gentleman who a couple of years called an airline attendant ‘a bitch’ because she made him turn off his cell phone. (See below.)

It’s fodder for a campaign ad, and it’s not the only potential 30-second spot ready to spring from Senate leadership these days.

From his perch as the Democrats’ chief policy and messaging guru, Schumer wants to raise taxes on people who earn more than $1 million, and many Democrats want to push the vote for April 15, a move designed to amp up the “income inequality” rhetoric just in time for Tax Day.

Is it really a good idea for the Democrats to remind people about April 15th?

Schumer has a plan for painting Republicans as anti-immigrant as well. He’s called the author of the Arizona immigration law to testify before his Judiciary subcommittee, bringing Capitol Hill attention to an issue that’s still front and center for Hispanic voters.

None of these campaign-style attacks allow for the policy nuances or reasoning behind the GOP’s opposition, and some of the bills stand no chance of becoming law. But that’s not really the point

No, the point is for Mr. Schumer to play politics with the issues of the day, while the country goes to hell.

By the way, when was the last time Mr. Schumer and his Congressional Democrat colleagues presented a budget, as they are required by law to do? Or are they too busy to do anything like that?

The real push behind this effort is to give Democrats reasons to portray Republicans as anti-women, anti-Latino and anti-middle class

Which is rich coming from a man and a party that is anti-American. And where are all the calls for civility and compromise?

Anyway, lest we forget, here is the aforementioned episode as reported back in December 2009 by the New York Post:

Schumer calls flight attendant who told him to turn off cell phone ‘bitch’

December 16, 2009

WASHINGTON — Sen. Chuck Schumer apologized today after word got out that he called a flight attendant a “bitch” for ordering him to follow the rules and turn off his cellphone before takeoff. And his political protégé, Sen. Kirsten Gillibrand, initially provided him with public cover.

Schumer’s outburst was overheard aboard a US Airways flight from LaGuardia Airport to Washington on Sunday. Schumer and his seatmate, Gillibrand, were chatting on their cellphones when the plane’s captain told passengers to turn them off.

But the two Democratic senators ignored the order and kept talking — prompting a flight attendant to ask them to follow Federal Aviation Administration rules, according to a House Republican aide who was seated nearby.

Schumer asked if he could finish his call. The attendant said “no” because the plane was waiting for him to finish so it could take off. The state’s senior senator ended his call, but then launched into an argument with her, claiming he was entitled to continue his chat until the cabin door was closed. “She said she doesn’t make the rules, she just followed them,” the aide said, according to Politco.com [sic].

“Bitch!” Schumer remarked to Gillibrand after the attendant walked away.

Gillibrand’s office initially gave Schumer cover, telling Politico.com that the senior senator was “polite” and that “he turned off his phone when asked to.”

That is, Schumer was forced to apologize after his ‘protégé’ lied to cover for him.

The Politico further reported:

[M]oments after the flight attendant had told Schumer to shut it off, the phone rang again.

Which is to say, Mr. Schumer still had not turned off his phone.

“It’s Harry Reid calling,” the source quoted Schumer as saying. “I guess health care will have to wait until we land.”

What a self-important [fill in the blank], Mr. Schumer is.
