Burris’ Deadbeat Son Got Job From Blago

Some more honest to goodness investigative reporting from the Chicago Sun-Times:

Sen. Roland Burris’ son, Roland II (inset) is an income-tax deadbeat who got a state job under former Gov. Rod Blagojevich.

The son of embattled Sen. Roland Burris is a federal tax deadbeat who landed a $75,000-a-year state job under former Gov. Rod Blagojevich five months ago, the Chicago Sun-Times has learned.

Blagojevich’s administration hired Roland W. Burris II as a senior counsel for the state’s housing authority Sept. 10 — about six weeks after the Internal Revenue Service slapped a $34,163 tax lien on Burris II and three weeks after a mortgage company filed a foreclosure suit on his South Side house.

A spokeswoman for the Illinois Housing Development Authority indicated Wednesday there was nothing improper about Burris II’s employment by the agency, whose mission includes overseeing mortgage programs for low-income home buyers and anti-foreclosure initiatives

"Roland Burris II was hired by the Illinois Housing Development Authority’s Legal Department based on his qualifications in response to a published job posting," Boykin stated. "As an employer, it is not IHDA’s practice to request financial information from applicants." …

Burris II, 42, once worked at the same law firm as his father: Burris, Wright, Slaughter & Tom. That firm merged with another in the fall.

Burris II had resolved two federal tax liens in 2005 before being hit with the $34,163 lien in July. That lien against his property seeks unpaid taxes for 2004, 2005 and 2007.

A month after the IRS filed the lien, Burris II’s lender filed its foreclosure suit. Since Burris II and his wife got the $372,000 mortgage on July 18, 2006, they’ve paid less than $3,000 on it, the suit alleges. The balance due is $406,685, including interest and penalties.

The fact that Burris II faces foreclosure but is working at a housing-related state agency "reeks of hypocrisy," said state Rep. Jim Durkin (R-Western Springs), who was the first to call on Sen. Burris to testify before the impeachment panel.

"It’s probably not the area where he [Burris II] should be counseling Illinois citizens on how to stave off foreclosure," Durkin said. "I guess it just begs the question: Why was he placed there, and to what extent did Sen. Burris have conversations regarding the placement?"

Burris II built his home in the booming Bronzeville neighborhood on land he bought from the City of Chicago in 2000. City records show he paid $1 for the lot as part of an effort to clean up his once-blighted block.

Of course these minor transgressions might be viewed as resume enhancers by the Democrats in the Senate.

After all, which of them can throw the first stone?

Still, we have to admit we have come to love Mr. Burris. We would hate to see him leave Congress.

He is so wonderfully shameless.

Even by Democrat standards.

I am seriously concerned that people who read these articles simply don’t understand what they mean. The take home pay from the job at the Illinois Housing Development Authority is not 75k, it is more like 750k – or maybe even 7.5 million.

Ever wonder why someone paid a $50,000 bribe for a non-paid position on the Illinois Health Care Facilities Planning Board? The thrill of meeting ‘A List’ Hollywood celebrities? Naw, its the millions in bribes they collected from huge hospitals seeking permission to build in Illinois.

As a lawyer for the Illinois Housing Development Authority, Burris will approve, or at least have input on, projects of big developers – you’ve all heard of Tony Rezko, haven’t you?

That apple didn’t fall far from the manure wagon.

Well that is funny. I’m sure just like Jr. Biden, Jr. Burris will be taking his daddy’s seat as well. The House of Lords indeed.

I think they need to go way back and figure out what the heck has been going on in Illinoise. Check every ballot machine while their at it. All this should call for a Congressional investigation. No foxes. Illinoise deserves it. The country deserves it.

There’s so much for that creep Michael Moore to make a comedy using Obama the new adminstration, and all his new staff like Acorn, and Waters, etc.

There is only so much outrage the public can tolerate. After a while, we become immune to it, and accept it as the way it is, and that all politicians are corrupt, and we just have to live with it. No doubt, Burris will just be replaced with someone just as corrupt as him, so why bother?

Really, the only reason politicians get away with this stuff, is because other politicians let them. There should be a way to forcibly remove these clowns, but the system is designed to protect itself.

Another reason politicians get away with this is the press. They are no longer the watchdogs. Politicians, democrats that is, are accountable to no one.

I know this has been mentioned at S&L before, but I couldn’t find it. When I googled Burris tomb this is what I got:

Flickr Photo Download: 20080509 25 Roland Burris Future Grave

But this photo is a couple months old now, and I’m sure he keeps it current. Has anyone in Chicago updated the available photos of the tomb-in-waiting to Roland the Magnificent? Father of Roland and Rolanda? Surely it’s been added to since then. He’s accomplished so much in such a short time. My favorite part is the listing of Major Accomplishments on the right, and then Other Major Accomplishments on the left. And he must have designed the thing himself, it’s so clumsy. It’s in Wood Cemetery if anyone’s near there.

    I am simply amazed.
Although The Anointed One came from the same slimy, seedy part of the country as Capone, Burris, Rezko, Blago, and countless other crooks, he remains untainted.
Talk about a virgin birth, this is better!
Christ was only able to walk on water, The Anointed One not only walks above great heaping piles of dung without a trace on his shoes, he doesn’t even carry the scent of the dung.
It’s been over a month since he came to save our souls and we still haven’t disbanded the congress, why?
