Broke CA Delays Tax Refunds 30 Days

From a conspicuously un-outraged Reuters:

California delays tax refunds as its cash dwindles

Fri Jan 16, 2009

SAN FRANCISCO, Jan 16 (Reuters) – California will not pay tax refunds for individuals and business that overpaid 2008 taxes, in order to conserve dwindling cash for priority payments including school spending and debt repayment required by state law, the state’s controller office said on Friday.

Other state checks to be postponed for 30 days include payments for vendors who provide services and products to the state government and state checks to a million aged, blind and disabled Californians to cover rent and utilities bills, State Controller John Chiang’s office said in a statement…

Yes, it’s always school spending that gets cut first.

You see, everyone has to have ‘some skin in the game.’ Even these poor ‘vendors.’

There is still no word on what sacrifices the countless illegal aliens who reside in the Golden State will be making.

Rest assured you Cali tax payers: just take comfort in knowing your tax dollars and overpayments will be going to a better cause: medical, food stamps, and housing for the illegal – doesn’t it just warm your heart?

This is why I claim the maximum allowable exemptions…I never wanted to give the government a free loan, so my income tax refunds are generally small.

You go grl!! We are having the samey same problem here in N.C. also! It’s ok if they “no habla”…… kissing ass is alive and thriving here for the “poor” border jumpers. One look at our Court system bears me out on this!!

  3. bill says:

It’s a wonder that no one speaks the words illegal aliens, just stealing the jobs and money that Californians used to have. Soon to go nationwide with their theft ring.

  4. proreason says:

If Hollywood ponied up 1/100th of their off-shore loot, this problem would be solved and the little children could continue with their communist indoctrination programs.

  5. Confucius says:

Can these vendors place liens on the state? It might be a cheap way to get some beachfront property.

  6. Gila Monster says:

Here’s an idea for all the working California residents out there currently getting reamed by the state. Stop paying your state withholding taxes. Go to your HR Dept. on Tuesday AM and claim exempt on your state income tax until your expected refund amount is reached.

Companies doing work for the state should also halt all subsequent state work and projects until they get paid.

If enough private citizens were to do this, maybe, just maybe, those idiots in Sacramento would get the clue they have to abandon these ridiculous stop-gap measures and truly cut their out of control state spending.
    Friggin’ morons, …..grumble, grumble…..

Right now I’m claiming 9 exemptions; that’s the most you can claim without providing some kind of proof that you’re entitled to that many. In order to claim “exempt” you have to have shown that you had no tax liability the previous year (unless they changed the law from when I was able to do this after my divorce in 1985). Great idea if you can get away with it, tho!

I dont understand, won’t KAHLIFORNIA be just as broke or even MORE so in 30 days?!?! Can any of you liberals fill me in on this logic?!? LMAO

    • caligirl9 says:

Sacramento is waiting for California’s piece of the bailout. Local print medias are gushing about how no doubt the chosen one (not capitalized on purpose!) is going to take better care of California versus previous presidential administrations.

If only Washington, D.C. made good on reimbursing this state for what it spends on illegals (because securing the border is something the federal government is responsible for!) we’d be in much better shape.

However, I am smart enough to know that isn’t happening.
