Cameron: UK Must Reverse ‘Moral Collapse’

From a bemused Associated Press:

Cameron: Riot-hit UK must reverse ‘moral collapse’

LONDON – Britain must confront a culture of laziness, irresponsibility and selfishness which fueled four days of riots that left five dead, thousands facing criminal charges and hundreds of millions of pounds (dollars) of damage, Prime Minister David Cameron acknowledged Monday.

Imagine such a sentence showing up in the lead of an AP story. The AP are normally the champions of "a culture of laziness, irresponsibility and selfishness." Aren’t these the very people who always get hit the hardest by any man-made crisis or natural disaster?

As rival political leaders staked out their response to England’s unrest, Cameron pledged to deliver a raft of new policies by October aimed at reversing the "slow-motion moral collapse" which he blames for fostering the disorder.

"This has been a wake-up call for our country. Social problems that have been festering for decades have exploded in our face," Cameron told an audience at a youth center in Witney, his Parliamentary district in southern England.

"Just as people last week wanted criminals robustly confronted on our street, so they want to see these social problems taken on and defeated."

You can tell that Mr. Cameron is still relatively new to political leadership. Modern governments have to grow "social problems" in order to justify their existence and expand their power.

Work and Pensions Secretary Iain Duncan Smith said Monday that he was already examining whether those involved in the riots should have their welfare payments cut

"Cut"?! How about ended?

[W]hile London mayor Boris Johnson said young people convicted over the disorder would lose their right to use public transport for free

That will show them! In fact, could it be that getting free transportation is part of the problem?

Cameron pledged to end a culture of timidity in discussing family breakdown or poor parenting, or in criticizing those who fail to set a good example to their children or community.

"We have been too unwilling for too long to talk about what is right and what is wrong," Cameron said. "We have too often avoided saying what needs to be said, about everything from marriage to welfare to common courtesy."

Well, what is he waiting for. Let’s have some non-timid criticism of the system.

Cameron insists that racial tensions, poverty and the government’s austerity program — much of which is yet to bite — were not the primary motivations for the riots across London and other major cities.

Yes, these youths stay right on top of all the latest political news. And they are all too aware that in ten years or so some of these social programs may have their spending increases reduced by a percentage point.

So naturally they took to the streets in fury. Naturally, they went out to grab all the flat screen TVs and iPhones they could get their hands on. Wouldn’t you?

Instead, Cameron pointed to gang-related crime, and a widespread failure from Britain’s leaders to address deep rooted social issues — including through the country’s generous welfare system.

"Children without fathers. Schools without discipline. Reward without effort. Crime without punishment. Rights without responsibilities. Communities without control. Some of the worst aspects of human nature tolerated, indulged — sometimes even incentivized — by a state and its agencies that in parts have become literally demoralized," Cameron said.

What kind of crazy talk is that? Our last two Democrat President came from households without a father around. And they haven’t gone in for looting.  – Wait, a minute…

He pledged that the government would intervene to help 120,000 of the country’s most troubled families before the 2015 national election.

Thank goodness he’s snapped back to his senses. For a moment there we thought he was actually going to try something that might work. Instead, he will find a way to give these "troubled families" some more of the taxpayers’ money.

Standing before a backdrop of graffiti, Cameron said Britain’s damaged society had for too long been one which "incites laziness, that excuses bad behavior, that erodes self-discipline, that discourages hard work."

Both he and [main opposition Labour Party leader Ed] Miliband agreed that, following recklessness by bankers, the lawmakers’ expense check scandal, and media phone hacking saga, all sectors of society had a share of the blame

Of course. That also explains why the youths attacked the ATMs and took all their money. That, and the fact that at least according to Mr. Obama, ATMs kill jobs.

"Moral decline and bad behavior is not limited to a few of the poorest parts of our society. In the highest offices, the plushest boardrooms, the most influential jobs, we need to think about the example we are setting," Cameron said

Luckily, the youth of today can have their morals uplifted by the arts, like music, and the theater. They don’t have to take all their behavioral cues from those evil boardroom members.

As police continued to hunt those involved in last week’s riots, detectives said they had uncovered a cache of weapons and hidden loot buried in flower beds in Camden. Knives, a hammer, metal bars and two cash registers from a looted cycle store were found after officers combed the area with metal detectors.

A-33-year-old man, Gordon Edward Thompson, was remanded into custody at Croydon Magistrates Court charged with setting fire to a department store that had been in business since 1867 and run by five generations of the same family

Obviously, Mr. Thompson is just another disenfranchised youth. And, given the universal lack of any further description, we suspect he is also a member of a protected minority.

Yes, the gloves are finally coming off, aren’t they?

Steve’s commentary on this article should go into the history books.

    There you have it.

Practically everyone in Britain wants to help rid these immigrant-enriched communities of their sociopathic attitudes and behavior … everyone, that is, except the enrichers themselves, who are quite content to grind up the country to suit themselves, just as they do everywhere else.

Of course for TV purposes they will come up with an occasional criminal, like this 33-year-old Gordon Edward Thompson, but all of them look criminal, so where would it end if they were serious?

Yes, nothing can stop the decline when the will-to-live is gone. Going, going, gone….

So let’s just chalk it up as another defeat for Western Civilization and another triumph for the Liberal Death Wish.

Move along folks, nothing to see here….

I don’t know if there is anything they can do to save the UK. The entitlement mentality is so deeply ingrained nothing short of a miracle can turn it around. Of course once the Mooselimbs take over it will all be a moot point since they’ll probably kill all the infidels anyway.

  4. Mithrandir says:

Every racial situation in which a minority is at fault ALWAYS resolves itself in this way:

    1. More social spending.
    2. Increased minorities (with jobs) in areas affected.
    3. No punishment for those involved.
    4. Media / politicians rush in to “muddy the waters” with senseless arguments: “we need more compassion, understanding, racial justice, $ocial program$….”
    5. Punishment is ALWAYS avoided. (we don’t want to exacerbate the issue! {we are going to create 10,000 more bin ladens if we react & punish!})
    6. Racism allegations fly faster than sh*t hitting a fan, if anyone dares to punish liberal voting blocks.

Expect nothing to happen. In your life, when have you ever witnessed anything different? Please add a reply.
