Cao Only GOP At WH Super Bowl Party

From The Hill:

Cao will be sole GOPer to attend White House Super Bowl party

By Ian Swanson – 02/05/10

Rep. Joseph Cao (La.), the only House Republican who voted for healthcare reform, is also the only GOPer going to the Super Bowl party at the White House.

The White House released a list of lawmakers expected to attend that included seven Democrats and Cao, the Republican who won the New Orleans seat held by Rep. Willliam [sic] Jefferson (D-La.)…

Sen. Arlen Specter (D-Pa.) attended last year’s Super Bowl party at Obama’s new house. He rooted for the Pittsburgh Steelers, who won their sixth Super Bowl that year. A few months later, the Republican switched parties and became a Democrat…

Cao is the only Louisiana lawmaker attending the White House party

Here’s the full list of attendees, according to a White House release:

Members of Congress:

Rep. Xavier Becerra (D-CA)

Rep. Rick Boucher (D-VA)

Rep. Joseph Cao (R-LA)

Rep. Andre Carson (D-IN)

Rep. Brad Ellsworth (D-IN)

Rep. Baron Hill (D-IN)

Rep. Barbara Lee (D-CA)

Senator Chris Dodd (D-CT)

Cabinet Members:

Secretary Shaun Donovan

Secretary Arne Duncan

Attorney General Eric Holder

Administrator Lisa Jackson

Secretary Janet Napolitano

Ambassador Susan Rice

Secretary Kathleen Sebelius

Secretary Eric Shinseki

Secretary Tom Vilsack

Further evidence of Mr. Obama’s ‘new tone’ of reaching across the aisle.

For the record, the only person on the list who seems like a natural football fan is Janet Napolitano. (We suspect she may have even played.)

In any case, we hope the chips and dip, and of course the Kobe beef, make losing your House seat worthwhile, Mr. Cao.

There’s an old gay saying, “It’s a short hop over, but a long walk back.” Same here I suppose.

  2. proreason says:

aaaah, Obamy is kissing Mr. Cao on the cheek.

    Who got the contract?

  3. Rip Cord says:

What no Scott Brown? The new kid in town for a bi-partisan welcome? LMAO

What .. no foul mouth Rahm-bo Emmanuel??? Word is, he’s the life of any party!?!?

And gosh .. they could only find 17 butt kissers to spend 3 plus hours with the o-blah-blah’s?

Reminds me of the Doctor who told his patient after an exam that he only had 24 hours to live. The good Doctor wondered what the patient thought he’d like to do with his final 24 hours?

His patient thought for a moment and said, “Well .. I think I’ll spend it with my ex. When I’m with her (or him – you pick) it seems like an eternity!”

I gotta believe spending 3 plus hours with the o-blah-blah’s would seem like an eternity (in hell), too.

Invitations and instructions for SuperBowl Sunday at the White House:

Welcome to the White House Super Bowl XLIV party for special invited guests only.

    Please observe the following:

The doors will be locked promptly at 1:55 PM. No potty breaks during the pre-game show or during the game. No comments on “What a great job FOX does” or similar references to FOX in any way. All guests will root for New Orleans. There will be no visible signs of protest to the extreme amounts of cigarette smoke in the room. The president prefers the windows to be closed and the temperature a comfortable 83.7 degrees F. We recommend you bring a short-sleeve shirt. The president’s opinions on what the team should’ve done will be met with enthusiastic approval. When New Orleans loses, it will all be Bush’s fault.

    Please enjoy your visit.

Janet Napolitano is playing hookie. These high profile crowded events are when she is suppose to be on alert, not partying. How did she not see the signs of Ft. Hood murdering Dr. Hasan working on her Homeland Security team since Jan. The FBI had to have notified Napolitano, still, she profiled American soldiers as home-grown terrorists.

  8. 4USA says:

I’d be disgusted if any true Republican WOULD attend. I suspect Lindsay Graham is crying in his lonely bedroom having had to decline the offer to attend. No real republican would agree to spend any non-official time with this Marxist.

“I suspect Lindsay Graham is crying in his lonely bedroom having had to decline the offer to attend.”

You are absolutely correct. He is one of the main reasons I say NO incumbents in 2012. Graham is nothing more than a progressive, or is it populist, republican.

(We suspect she may have even played.) Good one SG. Linebacker or center?

  10. AmericanIPA says:

Three of the eight representatives invited are from Indiana, and Indianapolis has a black head coach. Not that that has anything to do with anything. Like Chrissy Matthews informed us recently, Obama is the first post-racial president.

I wonder if they watched the John Edwards sex tape during half-time.

AP doubts injured service members invited to WH for football will make it do to snowmageddon. Guess they didn’t.

FOX19: President is ready for some Football!! Feb 07 2010
(AP) – President Barack Obama and the first lady are ready for some football.

The first couple will host a Super Bowl party Sunday for….service members who were injured in Iraq and Afghanistan, and their families. That’s if their guests can make it through the aftermath of a storm system Obama dubbed “snowmageddon.”

  13. Mithrandir says:

Ah the token Republican. The payoffs paybacks back-scratching pay-to-play….whatever you want to call it, is alive and well in our new “changed” government.

People are so frustrated with this nonsense, I am totally suprised people haven’t given up and just “wasted” their vote on the Constitutional Party, and given up on the two-party (really one-party) system. . .
